In Islam, strong family ties are seen as a cornerstone of faith. Maintaining these bonds, known as "Silat al-Rahm," is considered an act of worship itself. The Quran and hadiths, sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, both emphasize the importance of treating relatives with kindness and respect. Severing these connections, on the other hand, is a major sin. Muslims believe keeping good relations with family brings blessings in this life and the hereafter, including increased provision, a longer lifespan, and Allah's favor. The good news is that even small gestures of care and kindness towards family members, like simply asking after their well-being, fulfill this important Islamic duty.
