Lyrics:
It was a test we could all hope to pass
But none of us would want to take
Faced with the choice to deny God and live
For her there was one choice to make
This was her time
This was her dance
She lived every moment
Left nothing to chance
She swam in the sea
Drank of the deep
Embraced the mystery
Of all she could be
This was her time
Twenty Years ago Rachel Scott and Cassie and 9 other Students went Home to Heaven!! This Song is A Wonderful Tribute!!
We don't go to the Kingdom when we die. We sleep as is written in the Scriptures.
@@ginagagliastre9837 Luke 23:43 And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise."
Some people see the today you will be with me in paradise as Jesus saying he’s telling them that today, but that it happens later. As in “I tell you today, you will be with me in paradise” - because the original text didn’t have punctuation. It seems like a bit of a stretch to me, but there are other scriptures that seem to indicate a sleep period prior to the judgement. And paradise can’t be the same as eternal heaven because the judgement has not occurred yet so nobody is there now
The Quiet Kid ... The scriptures states to be absent in the body is to be present with the lord!
It would be strange indeed for people to already be in Heaven when the Final Judgement has not even occurred yet.
There must be an intermediary place. Paradise can't be the same as the final Heaven.
She died for what she believed.... most of us can’t even live for what we believe...
She wasn't the one that was asked the question tho
They asked Rachel also
Respectfully, she died because two troubled kids shot-up a high school. Cassie's mom published the book four months after the shooting. The police reports and a number of people present in the library support that Mom had the facts wrong. Cassie was never asked if she believes in God. As a father of four my heart breaks for everyone who has lost a child to any kind of death. Now it is time for Christians to break the strangle-hold that the republican party has on opposing sensible gun laws.
It’s 2024! This is speaking to me! Thank you, Michael W.!
Me too. 2025 here
Who is listening/watching 10 years later? 2019! Any takers?
yip :)
I am all 13 angels should be remembered!!!

My daughter passed away at 4 months and this song has given me strength and hope that my baby is being loved and welcomed into heaven.
Bless you and your family. So sorry for your Loss. And yes .. I am Sure your Sweet Baby is Being Loved and Cared for .... Again ... GOD Bless you
So sorry. It still hurts even in the knowing they're w the father. One day heaven
Omg, QWow, I visited this video 4 months ago and hadn't remembered (having a lot of seiziures from head inuries when I had seere reactions to my covid vaccines and memory loss) anyway, I always come back to this beautiful song and that beautiful young girl who was murdered, and for what...we need to start having real gun control and then real love taught to our childre like this wonderful young teenager...I used to play this around my 3 sons non stop Didn't he write this after the Columbine murders, and that girl had stood by her faith in God to the murderer? Beautiful song..gonna' send it to my 3 now adult sons (eldest just turned 40! yikes) and they've blessed me with 5 beautiful grandchildren....they know this song well, as Mom (me,, lol) constantly had music playing...beautiful
13 years and I'm just hearing this, I'm crying my eyes out. Sweet precious child.
😊he is gaer and I love 💗 song 🎶 😊😊

I'm 57. It's still hard 25 years later not to cry every time I hear this. I loved school. I became a teacher. I'd gladly give my life for a student. I still can't imagine how hard it was to be there as it occured
I always get so choked up and fearful at this song. 25 years next month. The world has gotten so much much worse!!! Come soon Jesus. EDIT. I MEANT TEARFUL NOT FEARFUL. NO REASON TO FEAR WITH JESUS IN OUR HEART AND LIFE RIGHT!!!!!!
Yes! Be baptized in Jesus' Holy Spirit, and know He lived, died & rose again for us All ✝️🧬♾️
It doesn't matter the time, it doesn't matter the season, because whenever I hear this song, I cry.
“Live every moment, leave nothing to chance”
This is your time - still.. As a 1st responder then, as I continue to watch violence take our kids - faith can be hard. Yet, I have watched the lessons of Columbine - of faith - of sacrifice carry on in the work we do today.
For those who have watched this video who have not been saved, I have good news for you. You can start a relationship with God and then know that you have Heaven to look forward to someday. It starts with repentance. You tell God that you are sorry for your sin and mean it. Then you ask God to live in you. You have a time where you are then forgiven and then you begin to know God. Nobody is perfect getting informed that you have sin for Jesus to cleanse is not a reason to feel singled out.
If I'm faced with the question if I believe in God
I'm going to say YES. I believe in God
Same here
I’m going to as well.
I will too
We are to live and die for Him as He did for us.
That’s a test we all faced every day it’s easy to say it with the right people but the real test when the this unprepared event happens to us even me if it was our last day on earth would you say yes? Or no? And think about it some people that go to church few worship god some use it as a Hell insurance don’t care bout god and it’s sad to see people in this state because some do coward and say no there few people like Cassie say yes
Today is the 20 year anniversary of the tragic day may the victims never be forgotten
and they never will we hold them in our hearts Praise the LORD
Can you believe it is shortly going to be 25 years?. How sad that the 2 killers won in the long term. Much like 9/11 hijackers, our world JOINS them in spreading hate. Jesus is coming soon... please hurry Lord, please
God said "Youre Not Dying, The World Is"
Amen to that I see what is happening in this world 🌍 very disheartening and sad 😭
I took that test 99 and I've had struggles and fallen, but he took the nails for me
10 years ago, this song comforted my wife and I as our daughter was going through some "bumps" in life. Dec. 13, 2019 she is getting married and I'm going to walk her down the isle. "Thanks be to God."
Congratulations to all! The Lord can turn any situation into a blessing!
Praise The Lord, and Congratulations to you both.😃 And thank you so much for sharing this testimony with us, it has encouraged me to believe for my own daughters. 🤗
As Christens we all need to walk with Jesus and the Holy Spirit he’s guided me life with my family trund agents me because I life for Jesus Christ loves all and he’s coming back for all his children and his church good speed

I absolutely love this song and if one day my time come to go home with Tye Lord I want this song played for all who comes to celebrate my life !
I remember he made this song for the beautiful children that lost their lives years ago. It's Halloween I was 17 years old when that happened and when those 2 boys asked them if they believed in God and they said yes, I do. That's what I knew they were in heaven. At that moment before the bullet even hit him. Jesus is truly amazing, father. If we just give him praise and love every day and show it to others.
And if others would just open up their hearts, they didn't see what I just the amazing father Jesus is truly.
Hes our king and he will forever reign.
A😮he is gaer r any and I love 💕 song t
Absolutely one of the best Michael W Smith songs ever
Yes , it's unbelievably beautiful. Beyond belief. Precious.❤❤❤
"I rewrote the end of the song with bagpipes... kind of a last minute thing. I was laying in bed at 3 o'clock in the morning and I heard bagpipes. I played it for Cassie's Mom and Dad and Misty [Cassie's Mom] said, "You're not going to believe this but Cassie's favorite instrument was bagpipes."
~ Michael Smith in concert in Springfield, Mo on 10/3/19
I too love the bagpipes.
A last minute note from heaven to make the song complete. Her legacy lives on.
I love the bagpipes at the end
I heard him share that at a concert here in Texas. I've never heard of this artist or really liked bagpipes, but this song will forever stay in my heart. If people listen to the story behind this song, It really can change their perspective and purpose in life. Absolutely beautiful!
I heard M.W. Smith on an interview talking about how he first met Cassie's parents, how he wanted to be the strong support for them. Then, when he got there, he said he just bawled like a baby and they had to console him. But then, he told them this beautiful story how he came to have this interlude with bagpipes and wanted to know how they felt. When her mother said it was Cassie's favorite instrument, it was really a powerful moment.
Thank you, Michael W. Smith, for blessing us with a song that gives us a chance to strengthen our faith as well as to pray for those who lost loved ones. God bless you.
So very sad. Can't wait to meet her in heaven.
O I love d song 🎵 😮a

I feel the same way. I hope 25 years later that her family and everyone else still affected by the Columbine massacre are doing ok. They are still in my prayers.
Rachel and Cassie are some of my biggest inspirations ❤️
Both are really great people to look up to
My heroes
Rachel was the one in the movie Not Ashamed where they showed her being asked to deny God and when she didn't they shot her in the head.
@katie pham "they never even said anything"
In the movie? Or in real life on that day?
@@debsydogsfleming8983 Rachel was outside and shot across the yard where she was having lunch. And it wasn’t Cassie who was asked that question about denying God? It’s been refuted many times.
My daughter, Shannon, sang this song the year following in front of the entire 4H summer camp up in a Southern California camp. She was twelve years old. There wasn't a dry eye in the camp. She wore a t-shirt that said YES I BELIEVE IN GOD. Yes, I was proud of her.
Thank you, she is.
You should be. Praise God! Give her a hug for me.
2024 Remembers the victims of this horrible tragedy. May every Year remember. We love you and will never forget you. Thank you Michael for a great song.
I think the problem with the school shootings that took after is that there's too much focus on the perpetrators and not enough on the victims. Do you agree?
My 5th grade teacher (private Christian school) played this for us and told us her story. I think about it regularly when my faith is challenged
"Just passing by
Just coming through
Not staying long
I always knew
This home I have
Will never last. " Rachel Joy Scott.
Thank u Michael. ❤
she was an amazing example of strength and loyalty to the Lord. we will see her in heaven soon.
Wasn't this written after Columbine? And she was one of the tragically murdered students? uggg I loved this song....

Although we may ask for it. God doesnt use us. God helps us become who we need to be.

When all your treasures are here, it’s very difficult to die, but when you everyday build up in God’s kingdom and most of your treasures are there, it’s not difficult to leave.

So true as St Paul said to die is gain
Tonight during worship, praying alot because so much was coming to the forefront...and if you knew how has used me and really it has just continued...this is the time for the CHURCH to arise in unprecedented but scriptural WAYS...HIS WAYS. I am so excited because I have struggled for years with grieving over the condition it was in. At the same time I want to stay alert and not miss anything the LORD has appointed..."for such a time as this. You can see it on everyone's face...we are ALL so especially touched...we will never get over it...I know that! So poignant a TIME we are experiencing together...
What a legacy to leave behind. Thank you, Cassie!!!
AMEN
Lord Jesus, I want to be able to do anything for you. To give everything up for you. I pray for that faithfulness, that boldness, that strength that only you can give me.
16 years later, Cassie's memory and impact live on. One of the first people I want to meet in Heaven.
+Rodney Agape how do you know you'll go there
***** how does that prove youll go there still
In these times, Christians (myself included) really need to prepare to be able to answer the question...to give a reason for the Hope Who is in them.
We need to empty ourselves of ourselves. And let God fill us!
Her story is wonderful. A great encouragement for those of us who sometimes struggle in our day to day walk with God
According to survivors and the FBI investigation, this woman and these victims were sadly exploited. This song and the books that followed tell a reimagined version of the story that fits their narrative, but it's not what actually happened. Surviving victims claim to have heard the shooters ask the "famous question" one time to one person, Val Schnurr, who said yes - and survived the shooting. The other victims were mocked with comments like "peekaboo" or "found you."
In the aftermath, storylines blurred together and certain people claimed they asked that question to every student and ran with the martyrdom story of this one victim. It was a horrific event with a tragic outcome and truly heartbreaking, but people need to start telling the true story and not perpetuate these false narratives.
I love song 🎧

@@kevinmcdonald951 Kevin what they are saying is true... and I'm a Christian. But we do need to be honest about the facts.
It's amazing how people who weren't even there say that she was never asked that. Some people will do anything to bash christians even use this to do it. Trolls have nothing better to do which is disturbing they would sink low enough to use this in such a way. I only pray that if I was faced with a similar situation I would have the same strength she did. God bless her and she's more of an inspiration to more people that we can ever know.
We struggle against principalities, powers and the spirit rulers of this present darkness.

The little girl in the video speaks to me this now is God's time 🙏
I just love this song, it makes me feel so full of the Holy Spirit and close to Heavenly Father!
Glory to God!
Faced with the question, what would YOU say?
I am a child of the most high God. Would I die for Him. Absolutely! He died for me! HE IS MY LOVE.
I remember Columbine. This is a very healing song. Thank you!!!
I hope that all of the families are doing ok they needed healing and one day they will meet their children in heaven in the near future
Today in my homeschool with my children we learned about martyrdom and Roman times. I was able to share this story with them today and how Cassie stood up for God at the cost of her life. She should have been my age, raising her own kids- but she stood strong to testify God's love. And what a testimony of faithfulness. One day I will let her know the example she provided for me when I was younger, and now to my children.
This song and the 11 students inspired courage in me to tell my classmates "I am a Christian." when I was 16.
I love song 🎧
Here in 2024. Praying for whoever reads this.
I am learning the song 'Friends' on piano, because my friends at 'All Peoples Church', which used to be in Diamond Bar, CA, all joined forces to pray me OUT of a coma caused by a brain aneurism. My mom initially called both of my brothers and told them to hurry down to California if they wanted to say "goodbye" to me beFORE I die. "He's currently at Torrance Memorial, in Torrance, CA, where the neurologist said her mentor, Dr. Vespa, the neurologist at UCLA Medical Center could perform a NEW procedure that could save his life, but you have to HURRY!"
Another neurosurgeon somehow found OUT about this conversation, calls my wife and says, "I've been practicing medicine for 25 years, so I know what works, and what does NOT work, and that procedure by Dr. Vespa will NEVER work!"
My poor wife responded, "I'm CERTAIN you know more about this than I do, but we don't seem to have much of a choice!"
Well, obviously, it DID work, because the person entering this information right NOW is that man. But for the rest of my life, I'm going to be quoted for what I said when the medical staff saw me open my eyes after 4 weeks in my coma, take a look at the weeping woman at my bedside, my wife of 17 years, and every medical person yelling out, "Wa-HOO!", and ask me if I recognize the woman. I said, "I'm not sure who she is, but I think I like her a lot."
(Of course, I had to be TOLD that I said this, because I don't remember ever SAYING this!!!)
To hear my story, search UA-cam for "Charles Frank Kurtz", then spread word that miracles still happen to this very DAY! MY being alive to even SAY 'Miracles HAPPEN!!!' is miraculous!!!
(BTW, I now remember who my wife IS, just FYI!😆😅🤣😂)

What an amazing tribute.
I love that Micheal dedicated this song to cassie as Jeremy Camp did for Rachel. Both songs honor the true spirit of adversity and the testing of one's faith in the midst of hardship. Both songs echo not being ashamed to proclaim the name of Jesus.
Cape Town live performance. Almost cried when he told the background of the song. Was just breathtaking🙏
What an amazing young woman Cassie was ... an inspiration to all! I can't wait to meet her in Heaven!
Not many songs can cause my eyes to leak, this was one of them.
That put tears down my face. I lived close to that school when this happened, and very vividly remember almost all of that day. And then learning about what she did for Christ and the other girl doing the same for Him. It just breaks my heart still and I am still so proud of them both. Will not ever forget it! Hope I teach my girls to be strong like that.
*sigh* Better to die for Christ than live without Him, am I right?
MWS 4ever.
A little piece of Heaven in your music 🌹
It's hard to believe this video does not have millions and millions of views.
Michael was so moved by the events of Columbine in April 1999 he wrote this song in a day. It was about a teenage martyr for Christ, it was Cassie's story. This is the anthem for those who have paid the ultimate price to follow their Lord and Savior.

1st time I heard this song live was at the Franklin Graham crusade at the United spirit arena 1 year after columnbine, that song makes you think how dedicated am I to God
HES A FALSE TEACHER SADLY.
I just love this song because I sang it as a solo and as a tribute to my dad's mom who died in 1998. I am getting married next year and I will have my mom's memory ( our favorite song,Friends, which is also a favorite of mine too) put into the wedding ceremony as my special music and as the bride's entrance in the sanctuary of my church in Belleville, Illinois.

Place in this World made Michael W. Smith famous. But this song is a brilliant but sad masterpiece that solidified his importance in the Christian music industry.
I think of the message of this and it moves me deeply...appreciate your life and make sure you are right with God today...today is the only day we have, we don't know what tomorrow will bring. LIVE TODAY FOR GOD!
always makes me cry!! We need to every moment for Jesus Christ!
I cried when I heard this song, I can't stop listening to it, the poor kids and teacher that were shot!
I have a feeling that we'll see these girl in heaven when we all get there!
Even though I am an atheist, I have always thought this was a wonderful song. It's written very well, it conveighs a message, an idea that even though I don't subscribe to it, over a billion people do. Even without it's religious nature, there is still real meaning here, it speaks to the human experience. The vocals are simply amazing and the insturmentals are also very well done.
The one who encourages michael to sing ,that isn't religion ,religion is usually dead ideas !to control the fact that men say no to jhvh
The whole song is about a love for God so strong that a young woman was willing to die for it. If God is subtracted, (the 'religious nature') she simply threw her life away for nothing and is worm food.
I was recently at a concert Michael did at my church. He told the story of Cassie and now watching this video; there aren't enough words in existence to describe it. Yes, I believe. I would like to think I could say that in the face of death, we all would. Cassie, I never knew you, but you are an inspiration of someone who walked a life led by God. You are Christlike. Thank you Michael for sharing her story in such a beautiful way. God bless you and this girl's family.
One of Michael's best...Glory to God
REAL MARTYR RIGHT THERE
Love the bagpipes.....makes my heart beat stronger in this Irish Girl. Beautiful song and video.
Cassie was Irish? I thought she just liked the bagpipes. I didn't know she was Irish.
It was in Honor of Rich Mullins. He died the same time Michael made this album. In tribute to Rich this song included his old band "The Ragamuffin Band"
+cornerstone Tech, that is wrong, Rich Mullins died 2 years before this song was written, where on earth did you get your info from???
The bagpipes where added as a dedication to cassie because they were her faviorte instrument he contacted her mother and asked if he could add them to this song because he felt like something was missing her mom had said " believe it or not thats cassies favorite instumemt and thus cassies bagpipes was included
as Christians following Jesus , this is our time and we are privilege to know that even when we leave here, the next life will be our time as well...
so live every moment *here* as preparation for a greater time *there*! Glory to God forever!
God bless and keep you all! i love you MSW!
This song hits me hard thinking of all the lives lost in recent years but the good news is God remains the same and he will see all that have accepted him in heaven one day we will see our loved ones again and what more could we ask for such an amazing promise ❤ 💙 💜 🙏 his love is unfailing its not goodbye its see u later

It's so hard not to shed a tear to this beautiful song and sad story. God Bless You Cassie and I pray that God is always with your friends and family. You are safe now. You are with our Awesome God in Heaven.
My pastor sermon today was about there is 3 types of eyes. 1)seeing through our physical eyes, 2nd eyes of heart , 3rd eyes of our soul. Most of us rely our eyes on 1 and 2.God allows hardship for better blessing so, don't harm our body in smoke, alcohol, drugs and suicide because God truly will protect us. He allows hardship so we can see god through our soul that he will never leave us if we only have faith. I truly realized that he truly exist because he helped me see what is unbelievable

She is dancing and enjoying the presence of God right now... She will return with Jesus and all His Holy ones...
I have grown up with this song, and God has spoken through it to me many times, yet I was 21 before I realised that the phrase he sings at the end is 'won't you save me', I always heard 'won't you send me'
It's not what's outside, it's what's inside being expressed on the outside.
M W S . What a talented and inspirational man he is.
Michael told his experience of this incident at a concert I attended on 9/23/12. Then he sang the song, just like 9-11, it will never be forgotten. Somber and tearful, this man stands strong in his belief and faith in God. He gives so much to others. What an honor to be in the presence of someone who will forever pay homage to this beautiful child that was lost in such a tragedy as this. We should all walk with God as Michael does. RIP Cassie, so true is gone, but never forgotten.
I'm currently in my uni study room listening to this and I actually had to stop writing my essay, hoping no one notice I''m in tears. The story behind it makes me so emotional.
Exactly. I've never seen the wind. I've seen the effects of the wind, but I've never seen the wind.
God is all around us all the time, all you have to do is look for him to find him.

Its been years since this song first came out, but for some reason I was thinking about it the other day and it made me cry. I thought, as a christian, I don't want to live my life so that her's and other peoples lives that were taken because of their faith was not in vain.
