I just started collecting Hot Toys 4 months ago, i already have 4 figures and my wife is not Happy... not 1 bit.

@@cbthecollector my girlfriend is pissed too. Will I stop ? No, no I won't. I told my girl that they appreciate in value so if I ever decide to sell them I'll actually profit money. Although I never intended to sell them, just keep buying more 😂
Thank you for making this. Just last night my wife and I decided to start selling some of our action figures in order to move on to something more 'advanced'. Since statues will make a person find a third job to afford them, your tips just confirm that we are making the right decision. I especially like the tip on buying figures that are in stock with a lower price. Thanks again!

Man, great advice! Good reminders. I’m a year in to Hot Toys now, own 5, and have 9 paid off PO’s. Totally right one or two of them I feel like I don’t even need now. It’s great to see these videos!

I agree with sticking to one line at first, but if you're interested in other characters and you stumble upon one for a good price, go for it, but still keep your main focus on your main line.

Been collecting 1/6 scale figures 2006 (Kenner Stars Wars figures). I’ve done everything you mentioned not to do especially when Hot Toys came to prominence. FOMO is real y’all. Mixed many kooaids (SW, Marvel, and many other IPs) so my collection is pretty eclectic.
FOMO is very real, but if you are at least aware of it, it makes falling back in a little better 😝
I just got myself endgame Thanos and hulk and gotta say they are big figures, love them.
Shop around and you'll get them at a good price.

I started collecting sixth scale back in 2008. When it was a small group of us! This hobby has grown substantially over the last couple of years. And with that growth, came toxicity!

I really wish I would have found a UA-cam creator like you when I first started out collecting six years ago. I've made a lot of poor decisions and I really regret some of them! After all those years can collecting, I still have a rather small collection compared to most collectors but I have a small amount of space my wife has allowed me to have. Lol. I now collect only the figures I love from some of my most favorite lines.

Yeah, that’s the truth. However I’m not sure if I would have heeded all the advice. Still foolishly pursuing older releases but more patient about it (read that as not getting fleeced as badly).

Great advice. I just started my 6th scale collection with a Hot Toys Beskar Mandalorian and Child deluxe set. I decided to focus on this line after watching yours and a few other experienced collectors videos. I've ordered and pre-ordered a few more from this line in order to jump-start my collection.

Solid tips! I only started collecting this this year and I have a pretty modest collection of 3 figures (Endgame Cap, Bro Thor and Mark 85) but in my search to build my collection, I'll definitely have to try to resist the urge to collect backwards. Sticking to the Marvel line for the foreseeable future although I'm also a Star Wars fan. Cheers!

From personal experience I would say, (1) Display them in a room where NO sunlight hits them (and preferably keep room lights off when not in the room), (2) Keep said room dry, and (3) Display them in a detolf. Additionally, use pleather wax (don't know the official term) if you want to go all the way!

I’m going to start my collection soon so this really helps I’m going to be sticking with one line for quite a while as my interests are going to be comfort characters which is the falcon and winter soldier The other Bucky, and one or two captain’ America’s (Steve rogers) as those 3 are my absolute favourites, I’m going to be most likely saving for another few months before I start buying them and something even better is I’m going to do monthly payments so that really helps
I’m actually going to be a teen collector so wish me luck haha

i had been collected hot toys have been 3 and half years ago, i was a super star war fan. In 2018 i was back to Hong Kong , my uncle bring me to look the hot toys figures, i was thinking i am being like to start to collected star war figures for single line and until now, i got 58 figures for hot toys star wars figures, and then half year ago, i started collected back to the future line, i can't wait my Delorean hover conversion. anyway thank for tip .

I'm not sure if I agree with the" don't collect backwards" rule
For beginners, it's certainly a good rule of thumb. The longer you collect, the more it becomes a necessity.
I've just ordered my first ever hot toys figure (scarlet witch age of ultron). Luckily I know it won't go out of control as I'm only buying scarlet witch ones😏. However I do own a knock off civil war version of her as the price is 💀

I love the figures but the anxiety and guilt of overspending and the FOMO of current figures that will be priced out of range if I don’t BUY NOW is a daily stress. Wish I had seen this before my first order

Great video!! I personally don’t think collecting backwards is a bad thing as a new collector. I pre-ordered Bespin Luke and wanted to pair him with Empire Vader; therefore, I had to collect backwards. Vader is one of my all time favorite characters so I have no worries about collecting backwards. I think if you really love a specific character and or movie that you should go for it and purchase the figure, even if you have to collect backwards. I would say, if someone is going in blind to this hobby without any specific plan on what to get, definitely buy a new release. Thanks for the videos!

I started collecting Hot Toys just a couple months ago. I've been collecting mostly statues for five years now, never paid much attention to Hot Toys until I bought the Endgame Cap that came out recently. Fell in love immediately. I did sin and right after bought two older ones lol, thankfully I got the Infinity War Cap from a guy who sold it to me for the original retail price, and then got the Winter Soldier for a kinda higher price, but I saved for it, so it was fine. Now I have several other ones pre-ordered and just kinda passively keep an eye on a few collector groups in case someone is selling something older that I'd really want.

Thank you for the tips. I've done some backwards collecting and I'm telling you it's not worth it. Paying double or triple the retail price for an out of production or old figures is a big mistake because mainly HT always improves the new or upcoming releases and you don't want your old/outdated overpriced figures sitting on the rack and always reminds you how you've made mistake. LOL. So just collect what's in stock or upcoming releases.
There are always exceptions, but yeah... they can be painful reminders of impulse buying LOL
I just got my first Hot Toys yesterday, Clone Wars Anakin. Absolutely amazing piece. Any advice on display options as far as display cases go if it’s only for one figure?
There are some nice acrylic cases you can get off Amazon I believe. Or if you want fancier, there are some lighted displays on Sideshow.

Ive always wanted a hot toys Batman but never pulled the trigger. I mostly collect dbz sh figuarts. But I saw they had for pre order the Batman Forever,Batman and Robin and I did it. I know people hate those movies but I always wanted to have those cool suits. I’m very excited. It’s definitely pricey for me as someone in there mid 20s. But the fact this is what made me do it I know I’m gonna be happy. I also want Robert Pattinson suit. I am nervous from all the things I’ve heard about the rubber suits though.
The suit could be restrictive for sure, but that shelf presence will be great!
I wanna get into Hottoys but I'm a 1/12th scale type of guy. Idk how I'll like the 1/6th scale but I'm wanting to get the MoonKnight hottoys figure, I MIGHTT have to try it..

Yeah, this video was made a while back and strategy has changed with businesses it looks like. If a predator figure becomes available for preorder, I'd 100% pre order it

Do you know where to find the best cheapest hot toys, I buy mine from Facebook marketplace. I don’t know if there is any better place?
Probably buy, sell, trade threads. I'm doing a video on that next. Just need to make sure they are legit sellers and you don't walk into a scam
I can’t offer you a better place, but thanks to your mention of Facebook marketplace, I just picked up a figure that I wouldn’t have been able to get otherwise. Ebay offered only $300-$400. I am so glad now that I lost a $325 auction on Friday.
I think the "collecting bakwards" is not a good tip. What if a collector, like me, who only wants to collect DC figures? We have no choice but to go backwards because hot toys doesnt flood the market with dc figures. Its a good tip if you only collect Disney IPs.
