Always amazed at how many hate Nami. Alternate win conditions and decks that have really unique ways of interacting are really healthy for a TCG. I'm kinda amazed at how balanced Nami feels. A deck like hers could so easily be completely useless or insanely stupidly overpowered.
I AGREE!!! Slight bias because it’s my favorite deck, but it’s really punishing but can equally be bailed out like any other deck. I do understand people saying it’s not fun to play against though, it is pretty polarizing
I think it’s because the way it often plays out. There is no incentive for Nami to attack since their goal to just deck out. It’s like playing a boxing match but your opponent won’t fight you and is just looking to win through points.
I also am not a big fan of Nami, but I do think it's interesting watching the other decks trying to figure out how their deck can most optimally kill a Nami
Terrible matchup for the shanks to be fair, but what little chance he had he immediately threw on 9-10 don. Nami has 1 don active and 2 blockers, you always play dragon here and swing 7-7-9 - does that guarantee the win? Hell no. Is it a better position to be in than just giving the nami 2 free turns by not even attacking for 2 turns straight and just spedning all your don to remove 1 blocker per turn? Hell yeah. This play either guarantees atleast 1 blocker removed, or 1 damage, realistically both blockers removed - if a blocker stays you can still remove it next turn with either ray or beck, but you already have a 9k body established which is bigger than the 8k ray.
Pudding would be amazing to use against Nami haha "put all them cards back, you don't need them" hahaha. I don't like the Nami Win condition. Although i do like the blackbeard deck to be able to counter it and shut it down
@@tomjohnston6382 pudding is a very good card against nami 100%! & yeah, Blackbeard gives it a tough time, there’s a matchup video on the channel from a previous tournament!
@@tomjohnston6382 blue is easily Nami's worst matchup. Especially if someone is building an anti Nami deck. Along with pudding, both Arlongs and Gion tech Nami really bad
I´m new, but i dont understand the benefit of not attacking if you have the chance? Isnt it better to burn some counters instead of not attacking at all?
Heya!! It depends. You want to aim for life when you swing at leader. If Nami looks like they can easily get out of it, all you’re doing on swinging is letting Nami mill more cards from their deck! It’s a balance game.
One of my main issues with Nami is that theres no good way to play into her, cause weather you go Wide or Tall with your deck she just manages to counter out of everything which is annoying. I also have never liked the fact that she just wins *when* she hits 0 cards, I do think it should have been if you hit 0 cards on your turn that you win. It would have made her more bearable
I do agree that the "hitting 0 whenever" gives her an upper edge in a lot of situations. But I also think there's a lot of matchups where it's just not good, you know? Like Nami struggles against the swarm in Doffy / Pluffy, but really excels on decks like Shanks where it's a much slower tempo and allows Nami to work. I think in a wider meta like this it's just a matchup that you sometimes have to take an L to, especially if it's not popular.
@@AkagamiTcg Nami has so many bad matchups though. It's a reason they haven't won many regionals. The color everyone should be complaining about is black. Black just constantly keeps getting more and more broken for some reason. The gamemakers will ban something from black and then replace it with something more broken. Like black has upping cost ability just to protect itself from black and green(worst color), they have the only cards that says these characters cannot be ko'd by effects, they are the most aggressive color for popping opps characters by doing very little, they have the best trash cycling, they have the best blockers and have the most options for protecting your board. It's a reason black wins the most while also getting the most stuff banned.
I’ve never liked nami and tbh I kinda wish it would die off like idk Zephyr it spits in the face of how One Piece plays and allows you to play defensive solitaire and that’s not only no fun to play against it makes it so that if this deck ever became SUPER meta we’d have to tech so gawd damn hard for it that other matchups would feel terrible cause we’re running cards JUST for nami and that imo isn’t good for the game. She doesn’t swing and her deck always has 40 cards which imo makes the game even easier for that deck I have to do a ritual before every set PRAYING that deck doesn’t get ANY support cause it ruins what makes the One Piece game the One piece game. If there were like 2-3 decks with MULTIPLE win conditions then sure I’d be more fine with it but it’s just the ONE and it’s imo toxic. You’re not playing One Piece imo at this point.
@ I play Shanks on the Sim and I’ve played against BB with Lucci and Shanks, the mirror and Bonney, P luffy, BP Luffy, and Sanji. The only deck that feels impossible is Bonney and Sanji and that’s cause Sanji doesn’t have enough support and the other deck is Bonney lol but for the most part BB doesn’t feel like I’m not playing One Piece cause the BB player still has to be smart and KNOW the matchup and how to play against it and know what to pitch to stop On Plays so while it may be a good deck it isn’t unstoppable and it definitely doesn’t feel as bad as Saka, or Law, or Whitebeard when Boat was still live. I’ve been playing this game since before the game released when they announced decklists for the starters cause I proxied every starter deck. So trust Nami IMO is the deck I hate playing against the most because it doesn’t feel like One Piece the card game it feels like defensive Solitaire.
