Congratulations on scoring a bottle of this amazing juice. As an American that has only been able to try this in a whiskey bar, I can confirm that out of the hundreds of different whiskeys and bourbons that I've had this one is one of my favorites. Cheers.
Glad to see you got a bottle of this! I’m kinda hot and cold on Buffalo Trace product but Stagg (Jr) is the real deal. Rich and dense and delicious. At retail MSRP ($70!!) if you can get it, it’s unimpeachable. Even at massive aftermarket prices it‘s pretty special.
Really glad you’re enjoying this one. Without a doubt one of my absolute favourites, such a shame it’s so hard to get now. I remember picking a bottle up from Amazon for £75. Nickolas and Perks have just released a Stagg Barrel Pick which I’d of loved to get hold of 😢 I normally get Oak, Leather and a lovely Cherry Cola note….it’s definitely Cowboy Bourbon on Steroids 🤩🥃🥃 I’d gladly pay £100 Not sure if you’ve got anything from Bardstown but I can highly recommend them….Beautiful juice
Stagg at £75 sounds like insanity right now! Really did love it though. I haven't had a Bardstown yet but it keeps popping up as a recommendation so I guess it's going to happen at some point soon!
I used to drink. GT Stagg $125 a bottle, Pappy $150 -$250 depending on year, Elijah Craig 18yr $50, Blantons $45. Now I collect them and gift many. I am blown away by the demand. Took me a year to get a Stagg jr.
The idea that at some point in recent history I could've got a GT Stagg or Pappy for such a low amount makes me feel rather unwell tbh! If only I'd been as adventurous with my whiskey when I was younger!
I have two bottles of it. The first one is spent 60 dollars and I live about an hour from louisville. The second one i picked up for 90 dollars. Here is how I look at it. I will pay what I think it's worth and to me at 150 I will buy it. I love it and I have spent more or the same on much worse whiskey. So to me if I pay 150 I will buy it and be happy about it. Again I have spent more and got less quite a few times. I know this is probably not a popular take but just being honest
Everyone has their own "worth it" level when it comes to these things, certainly by UK pricing standards that sounds like a very reasonable take! Cheers!
You opened it! What an awesome moment man for real. Glad you liked it. Stagg for me has a sweetness bite like no other. Love that stuff
Yeahhhh! It's crazy sweet in such a good way, really looking forward to see how this progresses!
It’s such an amazing bottle it beats any other allocated liquor

Sounds magic.

I most certainly had to pay aftermarket, even EH Taylor SB at MSRP is a lot more than $70 for us sadly! But yeah, this is a real treat!
Great first review of the stagg
Looking forward to seeing how it develops in future reviews
Cheers! I certainly am as well, looking in to the future on this one already!

Delicious and enjoyed video. That’s allocated and secondary prices are 250+ in USA
Secondary has dropped to 120-150 in most places unless it's an older batch (usually 12-17).
Well I paid a less than that after currency conversion so maybe I didn't do too bad after all!

I have the 22b, got it for $59. Haven't seen another anywhere near that price. The 22b batch is very good.
That's insane value! Eagle Rare often costs that here! Looking forward to trying more of this batch, it is very nice indeed!
Nice one! Very interesting, thanks for sharing.

@TheCrumbyBeard oh I am sure getting it over there is almost impossible!
Does it have the same mashbill as McAfee Number 8? (aka Benchmark, also by Buffalo Trace)
Yes, Benchmark is part of the same set (Mash Bill 1: Low Rye)
Aren’t you not supposed to shake the liquor you have in your glencaren because you just smell alcohol
To me it doesn’t live up to the hype. Also not worth secondary prices. I would rather have ECBP or Jack Daniel BP select
I've had a JD BP and a regular Select, and I totally get it. Would be a very interesting head-to-head!
