I've watched this many times but can't help being emotional
Guangming was a very filial and simple person. He's filial to his parents as well as mother-in-law to the extent of being not able to see through li mengzhu's scheming. He never loved her but agreed to marry because of pleasing his mother who couldn't see through mengzhu's bad intentions.
Whilst dingxue was filial but she wouldn't allow herself to be bullied because she's an upright person but with a bad temper and a little too arrogant for her own good. She's also a bit spoilt because of her arrogance. Anyway if she's treated well, she would never hurt a "fly" let alone a person. She'd never stab you in the back to quote what Guangming said to mengzhu. And all dingxue's actions proved that. She couldn't be bought.
That's why she and Guangming would get back together. This separation was good for both of them. They found their true self and grew up to be better persons.

I agree with you. But you can't be filial to your parents and your in-laws and do what they ask you to do is immoral and criminal as well as hurting other people just because of filial piety. That's called stupidity and blindness. You can still stand up for doing the right and moral thing and yet be filial and help them see that what they're asking you to do for them is wrong ... Don't be bullied into immoral and criminal deeds just because filial piety. It's one thing to be morally filial to your elders and another to be blindly filial just to please them ..
