Respiration The respiratory system is used in both normal breathing and speech production. The organs involved in respiration are the lungs, the muscles of the chest, and the windpipe or trachea. During speech, inhalation is short and exhalation is longer. The walls of the lungs contract to push air out of the lungs, which is then used to produce speech sounds. Phonation The larynx, also known as the Adam's apple, is located above the windpipe. The vocal cords or vocal folds are located inside the larynx. The vocal cords vibrate to produce voiced sounds, and they move wide apart to produce voiceless sounds. The arytenoid cartilage gives each person a unique voice. Articulation The articulatory system includes the pharynx, lips, teeth, and tongue. The tongue can be divided into the tip, blade, front, back, and root. The lips can also play a role in sound production. There are active articulators, which move during speech, and passive articulators, which do not move. The soft palate can be raised to block the passage to the nose, producing oral sounds, or lowered to allow air to escape through the nose, producing nasal sounds.
Ma'am yu taught in the first phase there are three organs involved, like kings windpipe and chest muscle but in the respiration there is no any use or chest muscles ?
