Wonderful playing and Very nice review as usual. I have the Kawai MP7 and my only problem with it it’s it’s weight. It plays beautifully and has the most realistic feel of any digital piano I’ve ever played and is very well constructed. I only wish Kawai would make the 73 key version just to cut some weight for gigging.
Hi David, I agree..., did you prefer Kawai MP7 key action over Roland RD2000, Yamaha CP4/88/P515 and the new SE version?...

Great demo by a great player. Well explained and then demonstrated. I never have seen Kawai until a used 6 showed up at a local store. I was blown away. I'm getting that or might just go with 7e.
this is my main keyboard. there is also internal recording with midi up to 10 songs. it also has backing rhythms. is very good controlling another device via midi and storing that into complex setups. the triple pedal makes it feel pro. feel of the keys is perfect not too heavy but very good for piano players. its getting a bit dated. wish it had 8 drawbars. other than that its brilliant and very high quality build.
I love its sounds. I don't remember i heard such good sounds from a stage keyboard aside of nord stage 3. Impressed.
I owned some stage pianos and bought last week (2021) the Kawai mp7se and I fell in love on the 2nd look. I am so happy with it. Thx a lot for your hints!

Triple sensor key detection is very important too. Very realistic response.

I hope Kawai joins 9 other well known brands which offer a digital or stage piano with 73 keys (Yamaha, Casio, Roland, Korg, Kurzweil, Nord, Dexibell, StudioLogic and Crumar) and offers this instrument in a 73 key version. I have never needed the notes at the extreme ends of the keyboard.
Kawaii joined Nord 2 years ago. Check out the Nord Grand with Kawai action.

Very nice review ! This MP7SE is also a recent discovery, I trief it out and it was an instant connection ! I particularily enjoyed the breathy choir patch. Is it a Kawai kind of popular patch, or can it be found as well elsewhere ?
they should do a software update so that you can use the 2 left drawbars (volume + linein) to the 4 giving you 6. move vol control to mod wheel.

Tried the MP7SE at your piano centre. The thing that put me off was the bounce as the key was released. Is that something you ignore, or is there a technique? The Nord Grand did not show that behaviour, so I guess Nord modified the Kawai keyboard. I ended up buying the MP11SE, which is fantastic to play, but heavy to lug around. MP7SE with the Nord Grand mods would have been my ideal gigging piano for the money.
The MP11SE really has lush wooden keybed and hammer mechanism that won't result on that bounce upon release right? Would love your input.
@@miguelesteves9740 I bought an MP11SE and it is fantastic. It weighs a lot so would move it only occasionally. I think it is too heavy and big for solo gigging. Really a 2 person lift Bought a lovely Ritter bag for it. If I am very careful and feeling mighty, I can load it into and out of a hatchback car. The in built sounds are good quality I think. Made it work well with Pianoteq 6 demo too. Have one technical problem with it, a small DC offset (about 30 microvolts) on one channel that messes up MP3 recordings. I record using wav format and remove offset on my PC before encoding to MP3, but it's a faff.

There are good things about the MP7SE that are not on the more expensive MP11SE such as lots of extra sounds, synths, strings, brass and more keyboards.

Kawai gives the best key action (and sound imo) for the cheapest prices roland seems to come second, you need a lot more money to get good action on yamaha.
Hi, I agree, the Kawai Kawai MP7 is the best join the SE version, they are almost the same, but i prefer the classical MP7, cause IMHO this key action has a more natural key return like a grand, the new SE version is heavier but has a more artificial faster key return, unnatural in many ways and not to my like at all, well, is my feelings, is your feeling too?, please share your feelings and opinions...! Thanks!...

I love it. Pity that it doesn't have even little speakers like the Roland RD-88. It would be definitely my pick, I'll keep looking for a while longer. Are there any active speakers that aren't too big or expensive that would sound on par with speakers in the better digital pianos I could connect to the MP7se?
Great review.. The question remains wich one is better overall? MP7SE vs the Yamaha P-515 - they have the same price/specs range..I can`t find any video comparisson wich is weird!?

My plan is target mainly to Piano, but MP11SE is quite expensive more than 50% more than MP7SE. Does the long link and wood keys really make much difference?
I've hurd MP7SE has a too much light keyboard and that isn't good for pianists oriented players. Any advice, opinion? Thank you very much
How would you compare the key action on the MP7SE vs the Yamaha MODX8?
I just purchased this piano. The first piano SK doesnt sound like it does in this video. It sounds muddy no clarity like in this video. I can only assume, the sound has been altered either via the mix or on the keyboard itself. I have a good set of headphones and speakers and I find the onboard piano sounds a little dissapointing and not sounding like this video.
If you employed some external processing or adjusted something on the keyboard itself, I would really like to know.

Hi, what sustain pedal would you recommend? Also what chair and piano stand?
What speaker do you recomend? I have a roland kc550 but it doesnt sound that great through it but it sounds amazing through the headphones was wondering if theres a good speaker that could capture the warm piano sounds
6:30 It’s kind of sad they didn’t just include 8+1 faders, it’s not like there’s not enough room to do it. And this kind of faders are cheap to produce, even if it would cost $50 more on the final price, it would have been good to also use this MP7SE in a (home) studio as controller... I’m just sayin’
Would be a cool DIY project for rainy days to build a 9 fader MIDI controller that you just put on top of it. Assuming you can control the drawbars over MIDI that is.

So… the MP7SE, I know it has a few more sounds on it and that the MP11SE has the superior Keybed, but are the actual piano sounds identical on the MP7SE as the MP11SE? or are there more piano sounds on the MP11SE and are they higher quality??

How is this recorded? What are you using for the audio section? Are you recording directly from the line-out? How closely is the piano section of this instrument related to the ES8? thank you Harry Lewin (california)

What is the essential difference between the Kawai MP7SE and an ES8?
Hi, MP7SE is a stage piano, ES8 - portable or personal piano keyboard. Basically that means, ES8 comes with integrated speakers, MP7SE - no. MP7SE has a lot off options for tweaking sound live with various controls, ES8 instead offers somewhat more classy, unobstructed design. Also, MP7SE has more integrated sounds (something 250+ vs 30+ on ES8). In short, both keyboards are quiet different.

1. yes, either via midi cable or usb.
How would you compare the Kawai with the Dexibell Vivo pianos?
David, I currently own a Dexibell vivo S9 and it is not worth the money. The TP400 W Fatar action is terribly calibrated ... Honestly it feels like a synthesizer. The S9 has amazing organs but i bought it as a stage piano,and the Platnium sounds are only competitive with whats on the market. KAWAI with their MP7se has actually tuned the market upside down. (Amazing bang for the buck, nobody comes close literally) Their Schgeru piano is way better than RD2000 or vivo especially in combination with their "keybed" . I have owned 19 "DP's"... including the MP11se which was spectacular, but to scary to carry around at 88 lbs for gigs.
I know this is an old thread but can anyone tell me how to assign four sounds at once?
I own this keyboard and can only assign two sounds, the other two show up as having to be midi sounds

Great presentation! What do you think is the better piano? the yamaha p-515 or the kawai mp7se?
Should really compare the P515 to Kawai ES8 as it has built in speakers. Kawai makes the best actions, the absolute best being the Grand feel but it weights 75 pounds in the MP11SE. This unit has the RH 3 which is second to no others and which Nord now uses in their Grand Piano. Sound wise, Kawai is more realistic BUT Yamaha does have a unique sound that is enjoyable.

Ivan, that's unlikely in a full stage piano. Too much extra weight. The Roland RD-88 has token speakers, but it lacks a few other features.
are wood keys better more then plastic? what wuld u recomand tony mp11se or 7 se
It’s about 10lbs too heavy. Dear Kawai, magnesium, titanium, and aluminum are your friends.
So i played it for an hour at the store today. A very piano like keybed, satisfying end press. The sounds are great, looks unique. Unfortunately the straight chasis shape above the keys hits my middle finger when i play so this is a major construction flaw if you have very long hands like i do. Fortunately most keyboards are flat shaped, unlike kawai's. Good bye kawai... I would buy you if you had flat design, you almost had my money. It was nice, but you need to get rid of this piano like shape and adopt a flat shape, think like kurzweil 2600x shape for example.
Amir Amran there is no construction flaw. The keys are as long as on any other stage piano. The flaw is in your technique. There is absolutely no reason to position your hands as close up to the construction to hit your finger.
@@ahojahojish Your words are funny. I'm classically trained pianist for 31 years now. My technique is totally fine. The keys are not the problem, the keys are actually great, some of the best i played. The straight chassis construction is the problem. For me as a tall man with very long fingers this keyboard is simply UNPLAYABLE. You hear that Kawai? Make the construction flat like most other keyboards. Think kurzweil k2600x, Yamaha motif xf8, korg kronos, etc. Maybe i'm a minority, but i am a minority that i think Kawai should not ignore because its only a matter of constructing a flat shape keyboard like most other keyboards are.
@@amirprog With great respect, and I mean that sincerely, I'm a bit confused. If you are classically trained for so long, haven't you been playing an acoustic piano that has a fallboard? Wouldn't that be even more imposing to your playing than Kawai's chassis shape you describe? Maybe I don't understand what you mean by "straight chassis".
Are the keys actually shorter than those on my Baldwin Grand? I am seriously considering ordering this keyboard and I may not be able to play it in advance, as my local dealers don't have it on display! Fortunately my hands aren't of the Rachmaninoff size of yours, unfortunately neither is my ability!

The MP7SE's design resembles that of an acoustic piano's. If the higher button panel gets in the way of your middle finger, do you have the same problem with an acoustic piano as well?

Both are not really compareable … - the MP7 (SE) is compareable to the CP4 (CP40).
Or - the other way - the P515 is compareable to the Kawai ES-8.
This beats the ,p515 in effects , tweakability of sounds( 256 of them) , organ drawbars control, and lots more buttons and pbend and mod wheel. The Yamaha has wooden keys and that nice Smart Pianist app compatibility. Both boards are fine value for the money. I'd like to have both for about $3300. ,
