Yemoja has taught me that without self-care and self-love, life will be hard. I am painting a mural of this beautiful goddess in the backyard of a Brazilian restaurant. I already feel myself subtly changed by the encounter with her. The woman I'm making the mural for told me in Brazil, during the festival of Yemenjá, the energy at her altar is so powerful that it often brings people to tears. Even knowing about her I feel moved. Salute Goddess. I hv been watching many of your videos lately n it has been very helpful. This video is my favorite. Devotion is so important. I am cultivating devotion in my life now. I have been devoted to mediocracy for a long time but now that I am almost 40 n a mother of a 4 month old I must do the work to grow stronger in spirit n heart as she does everyday. This is so refreshing. I was a Christian then a Hebrew Israelite. After a reading with someone who’s crowned and very well respected priestess told me I was a mama Wata. Seeking innerstanding led me to yemaya . The synchronicities were too often to be deception. She led me out of relegion and into real awakening and self realization. The messages she gave me were in total alignment of everything you’ve said . And I’m in humbled and in awe that I know so much even though I wasn’t conscious of Yemaya. So one question I’m not sure about , is there any connections between mama wata and Yemaya? It seems to be some similarities but I feel u could led me into deeper insight! ASE’ sis’star 🧜🏾♀️
Khamsin, I do give thanks that the Orisha work with us though we may not be certain of their presence. To get the confirmation says a lot about how much you are actually listening. Mama Wata and Yemoja are exactly alike though if you talk to people who are initiated into Mama Wata, they may not express the same sentiment. At the end of the day each Orisha represents a universal principle and they just so happen to be called "Yemoja" or "Sango" in Yorubaland. Other call her Mama Wata, some may describe her as Cancer on the astrological wheel or the numer 6 in Numerology. The problem is humans get a little narrow in focus and try to make these principles and energies out to be something different if it doesn't fit in their paradigm. Sooooo….they are the exact same energy though in Ifa we may have different practices to connect with her energy and the same is true for Mama Wata. I hope this makes sense and helps! It took 18 months and most of what my godparents did was help us to prepare our bodies, minds, emotions and spirits for the final rites.
