Hi mate, my name is Ryan and me from Papua New Guinea. I recently have been watching your videos and I'm enjoying watching them. I'm studying a Bachelor of Aviation here at Brisbane, Australia (at Griffith University Aviation). I am a Christian and my hopes one day is to come and work with the missionary pilots back at home. I've been motivated by your epic videos not only promoting PNG's beautiful geographic landscape but promoting God's work. I commend you for that. Thanks and regards, Ryan...
Ryan&Josh, you have done it again, brought back the memories of when we used to fly our coffee & gold out of Simbai back to Hagen in the 80,s in Islanders & 206,s. I think the strip was a bit rough and had a couple of drains across it, the pilots called them speed bumps, they helped them get airborne on takeoff. I did quite a bit of trail riding around Simbai (KLX 250 Kawasaki) it fit nicely into an Islander.Fun day's.
Good job guys , Simbai hasn’t changed at all since the 80,s when we used to fly Islanders , Twin otters, C402 s and C206’s in there as part of the milk run up to Mt Hagen from Madang and back .
Hi Ryan and Josh, Another beautiful day in paradise for flying into Simbai though cloud cover was interesting at times and I noticed that you kept "Betty" on this time. Glad you guys are able to get some flight time in and keep current . My wife commented very favourably on your teaching skills in this Vlog Ryan. A flight like this shows the importance for a second pair of eyes and a second point of view as well. Take care ,carry on the good work and keep the Vlogs coming. Michael Sales
Hi, I am Stefan I am a son of Andy Bijkerk, a missionary in Suriname, and I love you're videos because I lobe flying and my dad is pilot and instructor
Nice flight. Almost edge of your seat flying with all those clouds all around ya. Nice smooth landing also. Great view from the ground of your landing. Great editing in your video also. I enjoyed the flight.
I am amazed how you and your co pilot are problem solving the whole way in. Navigating, check lists, air speeds, flap setting, terrain avoidance, cloud maneuvering, aviating, and a slick grass shirt field landing. Wow. I’m learning a lot watching the videos. Thank you for your effort to make good content.
Are you guys MAF? And was that Mt Hagen you departed from? Nice flying - VFR (because there's no IFR available?) in that weather is amazing. Great courage and skill. Thanks for posting!
Quite a challenge finding your VFR ways and places where you can safely descent to below the layers. Really engaging video's, make sure that the filming/commetary does not become too much of a distraction. I do greatly enjoy these videos as you clearly verbalise what is going on, which is not all that obvious for the casual viewer. Is the flying mostly reduced due to the COVID-19 restrictions?
Hi Ryan (and Josh). Thanks so much for putting this online. We feel like we're home again!! Great video footage of the country and terrain. Praying for you guys as you fly around PNG. We miss the fellowship we had with you all.
MBP, hello, ‘lovely day’ for bush flying Great landing, GOD BLESS YOU ALL, IN PNG , I once saw a DH 6TWIN OTTER really SQUISHY GRASS FIELD Enough to see the water fly from the wheels , & started to slide sideways, & the grass needed to have cutting , Cheers From NJ, USA🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Amazing flight Gents and Air speed that You guys can maintain on the Kodiak is incredible. Even in my Commander the approach Speed is 85 on final. Keep flying Low and Slow and Thanks for sharing.
Do those checklist switches serve any mechanical purpose, or are they just a visual tool that keeps you from looking down at a printed checklist? Also, maybe sometime you could give us a detailed tour of the cockpit. I'd be interested in seeing all the bells and whistles up close. Thanks for another great video!
The checklist is not connected to the aircraft, it's just a flip checklist reminder for critical takeoff and landing items. I do make those type of videos on my patreon page if you want to check them out. www.patreon.com/missionarybushpilot
Excelent channel and high quality video, congrats. I flew up to the 727, but left aviation. And that was an aviation that doesnt exist anymore. We had much less instruments flying brazilian amazon, landing with Attidude indicator, HSI, RMI doing NDB IFR procedures... I would be happier flying your kind of flight then on an Airbus doing big airports flights... When VARIG went bankrupt on 2004 I quit aviation...
Hey, thanks for these great videos. It's awesome to finally see some great flying videos from Ethnos Aviation. Man...this Kodiak can really go slow...I stay above 66 KIAS on final in my 172. Many happy landings and God bless you. Greetings from Germany.
Dodging the clouds (one by one) is no sweat. But mentally planning a safe route through them, with escape options, is what needs a lot of brainpower, especially in the confines of mountaineous terrrain, even with synthetic terrain on the Garmin glass cockpit. 21:58 Josh calls up ATC that you guys arrived to the circuit area and will call after landing (so SAR remains active until your call) 24:20 You ask Josh "have you got SAR yet?" I bet you didn't remember his call because of the workload of planning the manouvering between the clouds.
Excellent landing under near extreme conditions. I think if one can fly in and around such environments, the world is at your finger tip...Great videos. God less the bush pilots and missionaries up in PNG. I'm viewing them from QLD, Australia.
Thank you for sharing your reality with us! Praying God’s continued protection over your life. Did you hear about the MAF plane that went down?😢 so sad!
St Barths ? Pah, it is nothing! :-) After my first flight since the lockdown, it would be fair to say my aeroplane took me for a ride. To cap that, my Dynon EFIS / EMS went black screen. It's winging its way to WA as we speak but these films are injecting some much needed adrenalin into my life. Another great film, thanks, James. Ps, love the UK style weather.
Great video Ryan! Thanks for giving people insight into what it's like to fly bush in mountainous terrain.. The skill set and mental toughness required to fly in challenging conditions safely needs to be of the highest level, and you guys tick all the boxes.. Well done guys!
Great job keeping it real, scud running with a way out and an extra set of eyes, priceless! Shout out to the windy app too, I use it float flying the TN river, great app for fine tuning the wind gust. Love the videos!
Wow u call that supreme flying and all the technical stuff airspeed and being able to avoid all the bad weather and to make crucial decisions awesome jobs guys brilliant stuff two thumbs up
Thanks for the reply. I got to know a lot of them and they have since retired due to me being an Amateur Radio Operator and use do some relaying also for them. Again thank you for the reply and stay safe and good flying. Mike
If this video was recorded last week flying from Madang then I saw this flight while taking a timelapse of the sunrise. It was a beautiful sight. Anyways, great flying guys! Can't wait to see more!
Because I wanted to film a video and didn't want to have to blur them out. I prefer to fly favoring a more aft CG then centered CG. It makes rotate and touch down easier.
Love your videos, yours is fair dinkum becoming one of my favourite aviation channels . Although it makes instructing and charter work in Australia feel like child’s play.

Very cool. Good on you for working towards an aviation degree.
Wow. You're knowledge of PNG, audio filters and many other things have come a LONG ways in 2 years. Progression is a beautiful thing.
Kodiak is a beast, awesome job guys in flight narrative is much appreciated.
Another great video... Western Indonesia and Papua New Guinea possess the most diverse and challenging flying conditions on this planet..
definitely true
Jeez, your flying - terrain, weather, navigation - is not for the faint of heart. You guys really earn your money.
And we love what we do.

Thanks for watching Michael...& wife 🙂 Yes, it was nice to have a second pair of eyes on this flight.
the workload on this landing is immense. thanks god you had two pairs of eyes.
Yeah, the cameras dont ever show how close the clouds are, or how much room you have to manuever. Thanks for watching
Hi, I am Stefan I am a son of Andy Bijkerk, a missionary in Suriname, and I love you're videos because I lobe flying and my dad is pilot and instructor
Cool
Josh reminds me of Dan Aykroyd circa SNL years!
Super bit of maneuvering and flying. Thanks for the ride.
Nice flight. Almost edge of your seat flying with all those clouds all around ya. Nice smooth landing also. Great view from the ground of your landing. Great editing in your video also. I enjoyed the flight.
Thanks for sharing...great bad weather flying..enjoyed that from the armchair lol
I could tell by your voice that’s really when you need another pilot in the right seat.Great job and communication to both.
Yeah, it was nice to have another set of eyes on this flight
IDK I think our buddy sounds more annoyed with the co-pilot than anything! He's got this!
I am amazed how you and your co pilot are problem solving the whole way in. glad to hear you enjoyed the video.
As a VFR pilot that is edge of the seat flying for me!
Wow, great scenery and great flying skills. Thank you! I enjoyed the video!!

They was a really butter landing in this difficult conditions. I am very impressed! 😃
Thanks
wow that was intense , such rugged terrain , and those people live in the middle of nowhere
It's crazy where people still live here in PNG
very smooth landing.
Nice flying guys. The Highlands is probably one of the most challenging places to fly in the world. Enjoying every video. Cheers Ian
It really is!
I love how your copilot visor always trolls. 😂
That was a FUN Landing
Are you guys MAF? And was that Mt Hagen you departed from? Nice flying - VFR (because there's no IFR available?) in that weather is amazing. Great courage and skill. Thanks for posting!
No, we fly for Ethnos 360 Aviation. We departed from Goroka, and the reason we had to stay VFR was because we had passengers onboard.
Two heads better than one on that one. Great flight !
Awesome pilot 👍👍👍👍
Ya, nice landing

Yes, flying has been reduced for covid. It's picking back up again now.
"Go this way, then go that way"... Is that Bush Pilot navigational speak?... LOL! Love the vids... Keep them coming!
Yup, offical lingo
It's cool you respond to your comments and such!
I try to respond to all my comments. :)
I can feel the tension.
That's the tension we have nearly every day of flying.

Hey Ryan, Love all your videos. Keep it up. Enjoy showing off the G1000. Wish you had their autopilot. It’s great.
I really like your videos!! I feel like I'm sitting in the co pilots seat. Keep up the good work..
amazing and informative video as usual and mega surprised to see the outside of the landing, well done
Wow! Great job! Bravo! 👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi Ryan,
Another superb video.
Stay safe & safe flying.
Thanks for watching
Fascinating final approach. I was sweating on my couch just watching it. Good work by you and Josh.
Awesome! Thank you!
From my angle, that was a bit of nervous flying through them clouds... Nice work, just the same.
The best pilots!
Excellent....Josh needs to listen to this vlog so that he can appreciate cockpit over-talk from our point of view.
compliments
That was intense! That approach had me eating my nails. lol Fantastic job both of you!

Yes, SAR is active until you cancel it. Synthetic terrain is a cool idea, but practically, I don't use it at all.
Nice flight with two heads in the game.
Nice flight, you had great communication between you. I love how quiet it got just before the landing. Thanks!
