Great job Brian. I'm sure Bushwhacker owners are going to copy you. When I was considering a Bushwhacker I thought it was really cheap of them to put the Coleman cooler in there, and if I bought it, the cooler would become my beer cooler in the house.
Got the 30qt in after a little work (10hd). The tv amp connections were to the left of co2 det.. 120 ac to right as viewed from rear. I had to move the tv amp up about 6 inches. Covered the old hole with a blank cover to match the other brown trim panels. Got it done but these are all different

@@billflintoft6170 Should be fine, it's just very small. A panel that size does a good job keeping your battery topped off in storage, it will struggle to keep up while camping. It's also a start, much better than no solar. Does it have a change controller with it or just a panel?

LOL.I want to use a rv water pump connected to my rain barrel and plumb it to the garden . The only outstanding item is a 12 volt timer to turn pump on and off once a day. Thanks again for your time. Well, proof is in the pudding. I thought the length measurement of the cooler would not allow the the rear door to close (even without the slider). The very first frame of the video shows the cooler length at the silver metal curved frame. I keep thinking the thickness of the hatch door came down along side that curved metal frame of the trailer; thus would bang into the cooler. I'll have to build a cooler model to show my confused brain the 23 quart will fit; or put my phone inside the galley to film while I close the hatch to see where the hatch stops. Good work Brian. My confusion is not your fault. Dig'n the videos. Too bad gas is so ridiculous now, I was looking forward to a full camping season.
I am definitely gonna have to stay closer to home. Gas is tough on the budget. Sometimes stuff like this is good, it can make me do a deeper dive on the great resources that aren’t hours away. That 23 fits with no problems, reach out if you have any trouble.

Do you screw the base wood into the floor of the trailer? How thick is the floor? Lastly, will a 100 watt solar panel power the fridge if I don't have an electrical hook up? Thanks
Hi, thanks for watching! When you raise the refrigerator to clear the bottom lip, It will come in contact with the door. This is why we cut out the back panel to give the clearance. Give the video another watch, I go over this and explain why I cut out the back paneling. Once this is done, it fits like a glove. The floor is three-quarter inch OSB with a laminate on top, your fine to screw into it . Check out our videos on solar, it's hard to answer that question directly . In short, 100 W of solar is more than enough to keep this refrigerator going. The most important part of the equation however is your battery. You could put 1000 watts of solar and not be able to run the fridge if your battery doesn't keep up. Lots of content about that, with a playlist. Good luck with the project, keep me in the loop!
Great job as always Brian. Is the 30 the biggest size that can fit in the galley space? I see in your Video's that a-lot of people use the bigger Dual Zone Fridges? Where do they carry those? In the trailer! In their Vehicle?
The 23 is the largest that will fit without modifications, I did a video on that one. The 30 will fit if you cut the back wall out. Both require cutting the wall if you want to use a slider.

Would that back wall hold a counter/cutting board on hinges that could be flipped up? And would making it clear the lift arm of the hatch reduce the surface area more than would be desirable? Yes, the videos help me out, insomuch as they motivate me to save up for a camper that I can modify. I have the truck now; the camper is next.
I’m gonna go with a drop in countertop. The hinge complicates things with clearance in a few ways. Also, I like the idea of being able to pull the butcher block out and put it on a camp table for food prep wherever I want. Thanks for watching!

You should be fine, there’s quite a bit of space there. Start by cutting a small hole in the center and reach your arm back there. There’s a lack of consistency in how they build these trailers, a probe hole will help.
I rented a teardrop a few times before deciding to buy my own. The first one I rented had a cooler (not a fridge) on a slide out. After preparing my first meal, I added it to my list of essential teardrop trailer features! Are you considering an extension to the countertop now that the fridge slides out?
I like it and think this might be my next mod on the freesolo but, First is there any problem with heat made by the fridge while running with the hatch closed? I end up keeping it closed unless we are cooking. Second installing a 30 would just need bigger hardware and hole or am I missing something else it would need. Thanks for the videos they have helped out so much already.
I have had no problems with heat buildup, that’s one of the reasons I like it so much. I just spent a week in stifling temperatures, the galley door was shut most the time. Although I consumed more wattage, the fridge performed great. 30 is same dimensions but taller, just cut the hole taller and you’re good. Thanks for watching!

Hey Brian, would you be able to tell me the length (long ways) of the BougeRV fridge you have including the DC plug that sticks out? Looking at this one and it'll be tight in my space according to the dimensions on their site - and not sure if that includes the cable protruding.

The device is molded in a way that might help you out a bit. The product description says 22.3”, but you’re right to consider the plug, even though the bottom is tapered in slightly. I measure 23” as the longest measurement, giving space for the plug, if your space was slightly shorter, there would be several little tweaks to make it work. Do you have 23”?

Would you need to install a vent for heat coming off of the fridge, or does it not produce enough for that to be a problem?
Never had a problem, we even went camping where it was 100° for a week and it did fine, just lots of battery

How long and wide is the pan that the fridge sits on?
I’ll have to measure when I get out of the woods. I just measured the bottom of the fridge and made it that size.
Can I use a 43qt refrigerator
It won’t fit in the Bushwhacker but it’s really nice to carry with you in the tow vehicle.
