the recorder is excellent, with the right settings very good quality recording, useful to convert older media (reel / cassettes) to digital through the line in,
the original Vandlion shop does provide very good support, just talk to Sherry
you may be able to software upgrade and get monitor functionality,
the latest model has 32gig built in memory & software v1.4
just be aware the screen goes dark after a few seconds but the record/play keeps going, push the button twice to stop/pause (1.activate screen - 2. actual function)
mind sharing how you find out the firmware version and how to upgrade the firmware?
I found no test in real life
Interested to buy one to register my lessons at the school, but I remani insecure.
Is sound really stereo or mono?
@@ShoppingBored it is surprisingly stereo sound either if you record with the built-in mic or from a external source. I have just received it today.
Bought this. Dissapointed. Microphone does NOT record stereo sound. What's the use of having left and right mic when it doesn't record stereo.

Mine records stereo, but it won't let me set the recording-level, almost anything I record gets clipped.

as such i can now confirm the unit is excellent, i used it for allsorts of analog audio to digital conversion also record live shows on radio, the record quality you can set in choosing wave or mp3 plus the bitrate, i had some stability issues and Vandlion responded directly & allowed me to update in providing files, if the unit tends to freeze connect it to a laptop/computer & check the memory space for invisible files (e.g. @&%$a.mp3), you can recover what is playable then erase/format the vandlion memory as fat32 and reload the files that are ok, watch for chinese translation.....when its open then in english its switched on, to a remark: it does have a VU meter on the bottom of the screen you can see a moving bar if the recording is loud enough
I've just received one, and I cannot find a way to set the recording-level, and it's recording too high. If I put it on a table in a quiet place and just talk normally, I'll get clipping. Can you set the recording-level? and if so: How?
1. No external microphone input?
2. No limiter?
Is the recording sound clear and high please answer
i'm a user, the quality depends on the record settings/bit rate, you can select wave file & highest bit rate to get cd quality, but you may use the stereo line in jack on the rhs side
Suppose it depends on the use you want to use it.
I imagine that for music(using the line in must be good)
To register voices in a short distance, all work good
Negativ point seems to be that has no automatic rec system and no limiter and no mic imput.
I need one to register conferences or my lessons at school. At the moment I am using my phone and is working +/- , not really satisfy. thats why I am looking for a good one.
Plannig to buy the Olympus LS-P4, but we are talking of a higher price. (140 USD)

Can you PAUSE the recording? That is, hit record, then hit it again to pause, then hit it again to add to the same recording.
Might be a bit late but we just bought one for testing and can confirm that this recorder does indeed pause recording and once unpaused it is still within the same file
yes, use the play/pause for that, not the record button, just be aware when the screen goes dark you have to push the button 2times (1. activate screen - 2. actual function)
