THE BEST EXPLANATION on YT about the YouLoop! 😍👍
Seen dozens of vids on MLA-30, +, YouLoop, Wellbrook, and no one ever told, that the bottom box contains
    A BALUN! 🤭 Shame.
    Thank you!
(Been an SWL since 1996, when I was 20, with a Sangean ATS.)

Thanks for putting this up. I picked up a Tecsun PL-680 recently and have been looking to improve its shortwave reception. The Youloop was recommended to me so your video has been extremely helpful.

I wish I was smart enough to really make good decisions on a sw antenna but I am not so I am going to rely on you. Thanks for the video.

I recently acquired at a garage sale a vintage 1936 Slivertone radio with no antenna, but working.
It covers 500khz through 15mhz. Would this be a good antenna to get this beautiful beast back on the air?

Brad, I think I'd try the MLA 30 plus. It is an active antenna (small voltage applied) that covers those frequencies. Amazon affiliate link:

It's a bit cheaper on Ali Express. I did a review of the previous version here:

I've been playing around with the airspy youloop and rtl sdr but I also have a nooelec LANA LNA attached to the balun. It appears to make a big difference in the number of frequencies received indoors. I'm also able to get good VHF reception even without folding into dipole. I don't know if there will be a big difference if I test outdoors.

Thanks for watching and commenting. Good to hear about the LNA.

Thanks for watching and commenting. The print is signed by both the artist and the pilot. It depicts an actual event from WWII. "Fortress Alone" The pilot, William R Lawley, was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions that day. Col. Lawley passed away in 1999.

The waterfall and spectrum are not running smoothly suggesting that your sample rate is way too high for your computer to handle. Am I correct or is this a problem with your video capture software???

Probably a combination of both. My 'radio' computer is fairly old. Cheers
