can someone please explain to me why a top laner is good in the top lane but not equally good in the bot lane or mid. why is a mid laner not good up top? is it because of their jobs? is it because of the other champs they are vs? what if a team decided to send their top laner bot and their bot laners top??? can it be reversed? it seems to me that nobody understands this but they just roll with it
This reply is probably already too late but I will try to explain it to the best of my knowledge.
The reason why most of the top lanes champions aren't good in mid lane is because mid lane champions have more range, mobility or disengage tools that they can use to keep their distance from the top laners, another reason is that the mid lane is way shorter which helps the mid laners to avoid fighting and poke the top laner from a distance.
The reason why mid lane champions aren't good in top is also because the difference in the length of the lane, since they have to go further away from the tower to farm they become vulnerable to all wins from the top laner.
The reason why the marksmen and the support go bot instead of top is because the dragon spawns earlier and it can be done faster and in a safer way with three people (jungler, adc and support) than with only two (jungler and toplaner). If one team were to send the top laner bot and the other sent the adc and the support the second team would get the dragon for sure but after the first dragon is killed is not uncommon for teams to invert their top and bot to get the herald.
