Should’ve stayed in the background this time instead of trying to stay on the same level. 😅 The only one who’d put up with this knowing he’s just trying not to escalate and make things difficult for himself would’ve been Riddle. I think riddle still falls for it sometimes.

Like another comment said, it's honestly kinda sad that none of them really care about Yuu getting kidnapped. This event should be taking place after book 6, which is a long time Yuu has been in NRC. Even Malleus didn't have the reaction I wanted. Ig the only boys that would care would be Ace and Deuce. The rest of the boys are so cold-hearted, it's like TWST is trying so hard to not be an otome game that they went as far as making the boys uncaring towards our existence 😭
Although it was hilarious seeing Idia get carried on Sebek's back. And the way Trey is like a guy Malleus and Leona are fighting over. I'm like girls, you're both pretty

Would it take place after book 6? I mean, I guess that would make sense since Yuu knows everyone, but I figured that was just a suspension of disbelief situation. This is apparently Sebek’s first NRC Halloween, and book 4 takes place during winter break, which is a few months after Halloween. I was assuming it was after book 3 because of that. That being said, the events are hardly canon anyways so the timeline doesn’t really matter lol.
I do think the boys should be a little more concerned, but I also think that people were getting a little carried away with the Malleus thing. “I’M GOING TO DESTROY WHOEVER HURTS THAT HUMAN!”Is very much a fanon Malleus reaction. I think his in game reaction should’ve been like more like “hm. Well. That’s not good. Let’s get searching, I have a fool I need to beat up for taking my friend.”
Oh, also, if this does take place after book 6, they all might just be kinda used to this sort of thing by now. Two of the characters here have kidnapped Yuu before and they’ve escaped relatively fine, so why panic now?
@@ella_cupcake Things like Halloween and birthdays will never make sense chronologically in TWST. For example, in the JP server, there have already been like 5 birthdays. That would logically mean Yuu has been in NRC for 5 years, but that makes no actual sense to the story itself. NRC is only 4 years. That would mean Yuu would have graduated by now, and the third year boys wouldn't even have been able to stay for more than 1-2 birthdays. Same for Halloween, Yuu would have experienced 4 Halloweens (4 years) in NRC which again makes no sense.
It's the same logic in other anime, games, and manga where the characters technically never age. So, my main point is that there's no point in caring about that. Fans usually assume that newer events happen after the latest book (although some events are more ambiguous where it could happen from like book 4 onwards for example). Masquerade is one of the events that is canonically after book 6. And since Masquerade is a previous Halloween, we can assume NBC is in the future after that.
So, every Halloween event from now on will always be Sebek's "first halloween".
@@ella_cupcake Honestly from the way that Vil to Idia is like "You have A LOT of experience with kidnapping" in 27:29 already seems implying enough that this event takes place after Book 6 (because yk..Idia kidnapped the ob victims in Book 6) unless there was pre canon event that Idia kidnapped people (which I feel like is unlikely sigh)

I feel like part of the reason the guys aren't very concerned about Yuu being kidnapped is because they don't think Skully will actually hurt Yuu (or Jack for that matter). I bet if they thought Yuu was in immediate danger their reactions would be different.
I see people annoyed at the lack of care for Yuu. And while I agree with that, I think another point that they themselves brought up in the game and that they now seem to be disregarding (Azul, Riddle, and Jade at least) is the possibility that if they mess up and too much of Halloween is missed, they might be forced to stay in Halloween Town for another year to make up for this one being ruined. Regardless of how little Yuu seems to matter in this event (which is aggravating, they don't need to have the characters overly concerned for them, but it would be nice if their responses could at least be a little bit more... even if it's a common sense reaction. Yuu's dialogue during book 1 had more feeling to it than anything here) I would think they might take into consideration the horror of being stuck in a world where the sleeping/eating arrangements are so lacking before getting too carried away.
I know that these events are technically supposed to not really be related to canon events ? I guess ? so they don't take into consideration character development, but having Riddle freak out about a rule here/hinder the progress they might have made immediately after hearing from Lock - When the immediate follow up of his book and in book 2 was that he could relax on rules a little bit.... it's just stupid. Rule following is his thing, yea, but... Also funny to me Azul is concerned about getting sued for hurting a kid when it apparently never occurred to him any of the 200 some students he forced into servitude might get their parents to sue, but... Can't rely on logic too much, obviously, with a silly little mobile game. It's just a bit disappointing. And while Yuu is not the shining star for these students, it does seem a part of the storyline/interest for players is in the eventual return home for them being a Somewhat emotional goodbye, so relegating them to the same 3 word responses/NOT utilizing them when it would actually make sense to (Golden Masquerade) is like... strange to me. Again, I get the side events are not super super tied into the main plot, but man...
Agree, and also I think the reason they're not that worried about Yuu is because, firstly, they don't see Skully as a big threat (they see Jack's disappearance itself, the problem, rather than what Skully plans) and Secondly, it's because it's Yuu and Grim we're talking about, the others know very well that these two have already been through a lot of bad things and survived, it won't be a toxic fan that will end them. And honestly, I don't complain about this lack of concern, because on the other hand Yuu is receiving a lot of attention at this event.

I agree with the first, but disagree with the last two points.
Skully must seem like he's not too much of a threat, so I get that Jack is the focus, given their predicament. Yuu is talking to Skully a bit, but their responses are really nothing (they've never been groundbreaking displays of unique personality, obviously, but...).. and it doesn't really do anything imo that the newest character is giving fanservicey hand kisses to Yuu when the existing characters' interaction with Yuu offer mostly 'I'm doing my best' or 'I won't lose' answers
I was talking to my friend about it a little bit, and I think it can feel weird to players because, fanon characterization/mischaracterization aside, the game kind of has three different categories for MC interaction. There's the main storyline, that incorporates a bit more continuity because it is a linear timeline, the sidestories which are often considered not on a timeline/alternate universes that... have to be kind of arranged wherever players think works best or considered a timeloop ? if they want to try to make it match up with the main storyline, because otherwise it won't (which also makes me disagree with the idea that they would already know Yuu and Grim have been through a lot, because... maybe? But they're standalone events that don't reference anything that has happened so it's hard for me to say for sure.
But I won't insist on an assumptions the stressful events Yuu has already been through in other events/the main story have no effect here, because there's no canon answer either way. ) and then there's the voice lines/study buddy type dialogue/vignettes etc where the player is given more fanservice. So the three aren't always consistent with each other.
I think the biggest issue with me, with regards to Yuu, is when they make /very silly/ decisions in order to prioritize the NRC students are taking up every possible role, rather than give a role to what is treated as a self-insert common character with... little bits of characterization here and there (being able to play flute, the info about Yuu getting in trouble for wandering around the school etc) but has never been given a more distinct personality that makes them someone the fans really care about beyond like.. manga Yuus or Yuuya in the light novel. Which... I do understand the decision. I imagine it is a balancing act for game writers with games like this that are /not/ otome games, but get a lot of fans interested in the fanservicey aspect of self inserting (so making a cardboard cutout MC for projection) while also having to consider fans more interested in the character interactions over anything.
But it is sometimes frustrating to me when the result is characters making funny but nonsense decisions at odds with previous development or just... kind of baffling/sometimes requiring the player to try to make sense of.
And so to me, it /is/ annoying, but it isn't really unexpected to push Yuu to the side in favor of, for example.. taking the opportunity to show Silver and Sebek interaction etc.
But. I have mostly come out of this event feeling like 'I need to make sure I revise my fanfic characterization to make them a /bit/ stupider/prone to distraction, which is also kind of a relief because it means if anyone complains about logical inconsistencies, I can just point at the game itself. 🤷♂
But all that rambling short.
TLDR. I agree with you about not seeing Skully as a threat being the reason they are not really concerned about anyone's safety. Though, I do think time is of the essence here, so their inability to stay focused, while funny, is a part that is frustrating to me because ... it's just not really consistent ?
They make nonsense decisions in order to prioritize the NRC guys being center stage fairly often, though I understand why writers would make that decision/it's the selling point of the game...
I think there are different formats to interacting with Yuu/MC that don't really neatly match up with each other, so fans might expect characterization from the main storyline or home screen etc, but it's not necessarily going to be the case for a sidestory that doesn't incorporate character growth/fanservice dialogue lines. I don't care that much when it comes to whatever relationship progression with Yuu (I expect Yuu to be less of a priority), moreso feel annoyance at silly decisions at odds with main story character development..etc But I guess that is on me for expecting the characters to hold onto any character development outside the main storyline bc.. these side stories simply don't have to do that.
Overall, it just makes me feel like the characters are simply a bit stupid. Which is fine, they've never once been diabolical masterminds, but it still can feel a little weird when they're responding to events in absolutely the worst ways. Crowley simulator fr....
@@tabruc4186 I appreciate your comment, I also noticed that the characterization of Yuu's relationship with the boys changes depending on the story and I am actually fully aware that Yuu is a self-insert they don't have a defined personality and even though he is the player character, they are not the protagonist. But I wanted to raise some points, I've seen a lot of people care about Yuu in the game, even without inserting themselves, I think I see more people caring about them than Yuus from other media, that's why there are a lot of people who get upset that Yuu doesn't get attention, mainly because they don't realize that they aren't the protagonist. I really don't care that much about the lack of attention, but I know that there are a lot of people who are very bothered (especially those who have inserted themselves), because it's not cool to feel excluded in something you like, that's why I gave my point of view, I prefer to see things from a more positive side, rather than complaining about how the boys don't care about Yuu even though they have more pressing things to focus on.
@@tabruc4186 By the way, about how they lost focus in this part, I agree that it seemed forced in some parts, but it's not the first time that the boys showed no sense of urgency. In the ghost bride, the wedding that would kill Idia was midnight, and when they went to get ready, we saw in the vignettes that Riddle went to prune the roses and Epel wandered around before meeting Silver and getting a horse. In the mask event, if the flowers left the city it would no longer be possible to stop them from spreading throughout the world, and when the boys defeat Rollo the first time instead of ringing the bell they stop to listen to Azul's explanation of how he used the Deuce's unique magic to win. In chapter 7 itself, in addition to them watching a series for five hours in Rook's dream, they had to rehearse the choreography again to make him remember, so in the end they just needed to throw the truth in his face, and in the last part Jade made a whole plan to discover the location of the contracts, to end up in an obvious place, just because the plot needs an excuse for him to use his unique magic, like everyone else.
And as always, when a time of crisis arives, the boys' sense of urgency fails, like, really Riddle? Following the Queen of Hearts's rules is more important than rescuing the hostages?

I'll be honest, I don't think Oogie Boogie will appear in the next part, after all in the next part (which will be released on Monday) we will have the boys getting together, finding Skully, fighting him, defeating him, discovering his true story and his goals, celebrate Halloween, and return home, it seems there is no room to introduce a new villain into the event.

@@meloncholywitch9979 Well, the fact that Yuu and Grim are not present in this part doesn't surprise me, every hallowen event, when the things get tense, they're left aside, that's why I wasn't creating expectations for these two before the event started.
Actually, the fact that Yuu receive a lot of attention and was currently relevant to the plot surprised me a lot.

I'm really bothered , Skully said he just turned 16, did he lie about his age ? or He haven't graduated middle school yet? but everyone in twst said he is the same age as them.
??? I'm confused on what you're confused about. Freshmen are 16 in NRC. Or are you saying that he might be younger than that (and that's why he isn't in either NRC or RSA but for some questionable reason he is on Sage's Island?)
There are some cases like someone I know during our 1st year Highschool/ college because in my country during the time I went to school we dont have middle school year ,actually my batch is the last old corriculum, i think on 2016 or 2017 Our government change the school system so now we have now junior and senior year. During my school days Ist year of college / highschool most of my classmate are 15 but my friend is 16 because she was month older than the rest. Case something like that so have a theory either he lied his age or skully is month older than his classmate in middle. Maybe that the reason why he lied going to a magic school(not confirming yet). I also want to mention this they can have a unique magic before they enter a magic school like Riddle he has a unique magic i think he was 10, correct me if I'm wrong , And sebek already has a unique magic before enteting NRC due to the intense training he do. You know it would be amazing if he is end up going to NRC XD hahahha
