I know what book this was inspired by. It's called The Little match girl. It's about a poor little girl trying to sell matches just to survive. She sees people in warm houses in warm clothes and having great food. And she feels hungry. She is cold in the snow and uses her matches to try to stay warm. But this spells and she freezes to death. Only in heaven is she finally warm. And this was a children's illustration book. 😭

In principle, this is very reminiscent of the scorched girl from Lobotomy Corporation. There was a time when stories of anomalies excited the brain with their absolute mystery, like a distorting mirror.
