the counter to this is that now pump fakes are actually useful, since when you fake, the meter appears over the receiver you faked to for a split second. if you catch your defender being over aggressive, you can punish him easily
You could do this back when Madden was on Sega Genesis in the 90's nothing new they take stuff away bring it back as a feature,one-handed catches should be just a spectacular catch by elite receivers this just crazy.
You could choose which players to switch to mid play in the 90s? I find that hard to believe when you can’t do that in 2k football games or any other madden games.

This will allow you to switch to any player prior to the ball being thrown. You can start on a MLB and toggle to the FS when you see you are getting bombed prior to the QB throwing to better cover a route combination that you wouldnt be able to react to until the ball is in the air.
I’m pretty sure I read that when the ball is in the air it defaults to switch stick instead of hit stick, and after the ball is either in the hands of a receiver or defender, or has been touched, hit stick controls will resume.
To be honest, they balanced this out pretty well from what I have been playing. It is not too OP. It is kind of hard to get consistently. If I’m being honest, it doesn’t always switch to where I wanted to which is more on me than the game I’m just glad it’s not super crazy but it’s pretty useful
No, this allows you to switch onto any coverage defender anywhere on the field by flicking the stick that way. B will only allow you to switch to the closest defender as you mentioned.
I need this in madden I never played ncaa I preordered it but thinking of canceling but that’s what I struggle with in madden defense. I swear I feel like I have to be everywhere but only stuck on 1 person. My defense always seem caught in a daze and not aware of what’s going on and I can’t react.

To our understanding, it won't be the same going from a blitzing player to a coverage player. According to their blog notes, this is a different mechanic. The switch stick is only used for coverage to coverage players.

That's not true, you've never had access during a play to switch to any coverage defender you want. If your opponent was rolling out to the right, you could not switch your user to the LoS corner before the ball was thrown for example.
I'm pretty sure they said you can only use it before the qb throws the ball, after that right stick goes back to hit stick. A lot of people think they are going to be able to switch using this while the ball is in the air and that's not the case.
B/O switches to players closest to the ball. The switch stick will allow you to move your user to any coverage defender on the field before the ball is thrown. Much different mechanic.

I haven’t seen any confirmation of of that yet, but based on the way that I’ve heard that developers talk about it. I’m assuming that you could absolutely still press the old button. I could be wrong, but I doubt that they’re going to remove the option to press the old button. either way either way just one of those mechanics that might take a little bit to get used to similar to all the momentum stuff and madden and the passing controls they have

If so I don’t see that going too well… So I looked it up anyone wondering after the ball carrier passes the line of scrimmage or the qb passes the ball it goes back to hit stick and you can’t use it to switch anymore. I don’t know if I really like that for the passing part mostly. What if my cb gets beat and I try to use the right stick to quick switch right to safety? This mechanic is before the pass is thrown. You have always been able to switch to players with B when the ball was in the air.

There is a very minimal delay in Madden, so this shouldn't be a concern in CFB.
