We ditched the directors chairs as they took up too much garage space and replaced with Helinox Sunset chairs which we can store in the space behind passengers seats. The smaller bed “downstairs” is brilliant! This is your home and if someone isn’t feeling well 😢 they can sleep downstairs (close to the bathroom). You’re right-this checks ✅ a lot of boxes!
I live in Germany.. they maybe rare in UK.. but I see everyday this model here. Lots of van lifers have them. We have lots of van lifers in our area. As u can park anywhere. There are also motorhome parks everywhere with water and showers.. but no electricity hook ups. I think u made a good choice.

Good van, I basically live in my T6 LWB camper, and I highly recommend taking a look at Transporter HQ headlights they made night time driving so much safer for me. Hope your having fun and yours looks amazing.

Good choice for you, not too large, not too small. Not the best for stealth (like the Belingo, but then moreso than Morgan!), but a quiet back lane she’ll blend in! Ideal space for Janine’s editing, a loo, a shower and it’ll be really warm for Janine! Get a load or flat flexi panel solar panels on the top and you’re off!
I'm SO glad you got that and not a pop top. My dad had one that I thought was rather inconvenient bordering on downright stupid. I really love that when you're sleeping up there, you probably won't feel so vulnerable from people walking by and peeking in your windows! have fun carrying on, kids! You did a great job!
That is such a good choice for you guys !! - Plus an almost bullet proof engine - I have a 2008 T5 (1.9 PD - 160,000miles) & a 2008 Tig 170 sport (EA189 - common rail - 170,000miles), both never any issues, just changed oil every year, and drove daily on open roads - neither burn oil between changes. 👍👍👍
I need to reiterate: get your own insurance set up when you ship (Southampton to Newark?) the van. If you rely on the shipping line, their Terms & Conditions would pay you peanuts for any damage. Your freight forwarder should have an insurance policy you can buy that gives you real world protection.(50 years shipping experience.)
cool we used 200mm wheel size kick scooters which were ideal in the USA as we could carry them in once we got to a store. They fold up really small for your garage, the bigger wheels work well pn trails and don't get punctures from goat heads which are a sharp seed head that destroys bicycle tyres. Also theft of bicycles is rampant.

You might think it's a small space, but compared to your Berlingo, it's massive. It's amazing and so beautiful. Just enjoy every second of it on your travels. I remember when I first saw our new mitorhome Knaus, so exciting. German built are always amazing. Unfortunately, that part of my life has come to an end due to my husband's passing last year. So go fior it and enjoy every minute no matter where you go. Stay safe and drive carefully. Xx

Great choice guys we have one and love it too. Borrowed our daughters Cally Ocean pop top but felt it a bit restricting and we like to getaway in all weathers. We travel with our two spaniels and find there is enough room for us all. We also take our granddaughter away and use the butterfly bed and it all works beautifully. Wishing you many happy travels. What a cool van! I love how they've implemented all of the creature comforts in such a seamless way. The only thing I would caution against while you're in the U.S. is the fact that you need to be careful getting in and out of the vehicle, because not only are the roads on the opposite side, but so are the steering wheels, so you have to be mindful of traffic on the passenger side.
Congratulations on your purchase. Well done for realising every van will have compromises, and working out how you use your van and where your compromises are, for each of us that is different, which is why hey make so many different variations of campervans
Fantastic. Really good to see it has a towbar that means you have the option of a garage as big as you like if you want to. They also do a variety of boxes. As it’s your first awning get some awning straps asap. Never leave it up overnight and put it away if the wind begins to rise. It’s ok with the proper straps but even with those don’t risk it in bad weather. Once they break loose they can cause a lot of damage. We agree this is the right van for you now. Agile, economic, room to socialise. We wish you many happy miles of safe, fun travel 👍

The bathroom in such a small vehicle is a surprise, I thought you were going to say that not having one was going to be your compromise when I saw it from the outside. A smaller space than Morgan but much bigger than the micro camper so hopefully ideal for your needs. I’m looking forward to watching your future adventures in the new van and seeing how you find it for full time living.
No worries about reliability now, guys! It's small for van lifing, but you've shown with the car camper that you can adapt to what you have. I have a go-pod so I know what being in a small space with restricted headroom is like. You have tons of headroom there. I love that bed. I'm excited for you. Enjoy!
Hi guys, well, I'm so chuffed with your campervan, excellent choice. I felt Janine pain with the micro camper, no kitchen area, and no wardrobe. Dreams do come true!! We also have a blue Westfalia Nugget hard top, but on a Ford LHD, sadly, it's not an automatic (wel jel). We bought it in England 2016 and changed to Spanish plates. It's been great times, although unlike yours, no interior shower. We have seen the Bunkervan models made in Spain and fallen in love ...one day!! Enjoy your time away, and I hope that Janine gets her Irish passport soon. ¡Buen viaje!
As a kid my family did the vw hippy van trip around Europe and UK for nearly 2 years. I slept in the pop-up roof bit- even in winter in freezing countries. Just needed good thermals and sleeping bag. 1968-9 was a long time ago.
We do not have recent Westfalia here in the US. We wish we did. This is perfect for what you want. The only thing i think you are missing are thermal window covers. As there are not sold in the US you probably need to get the thermal covers in Europe. These will make a huge difference camping in the winter. Congratulations!
I was one of those who suggested not to get a pop top as I’ve had one for years and they can be a pain in bad weather. I saw one of these near Ben Nevis last winter, the German couple who owned it showed me round and I was blown away. I’d love one, great choice you’ll be cozy and safe in it , happy travels!

Wow this van looks great. Congratulations ❤🎊🚐. This is one of the best layouts I have seen. I like that it also has 4 sitting areas. I wish you guys many years of happy van living in it. On another note here are a few suggestions on a couple items you may want it invest in: 1. Unbreakable Window Film. (I watched a few video where some van folks had this and it saved their van from being broken in.) 2. Carbon Monoxide Detectors 3. Wireless Camera's for the van (So you can see what is going on around your van without opening the door or while you are away from the van.) I hope you find these suggestions helpful. Oh wow that's just fantastic!!! Bit of solar, diesel boiler rather than LPG (getting harder to find), loo, shower, easy setup bed (hurrah) & wind, rain, cold proof! If I were to live in a van that would be my my perfect pick too 😊👍 (I guess there was no option but I'd have deffo gone for a bigger solar panel though for shady pitch ups or can the diesel charge your leisure batteries?) Just so happy for you both 🥂😊

Just remember to keep that left foot away from that brake pedal😉 nothing like gravity stopping you dead in the middle of the road because you went to dip the non existent clutch! 😂
I noticed that you used your left foot on the brake. Never use your left foot when driving. You ONLY use your right foot in an automatic. Love you two.
Agreed. To begin with, tuck your left foot behind your right one. It sounds awkward, and is to begin with, but it is better than hitting that brake pedal with your left foot!
Awesome guys! It‘s pretty similar to the Ford Nugget and just like your‘s its huge on the inside. The base is a Ford custom in two wheel base sizes and it‘s really brilliant. The Nuggets do have a different kitchen setup (which I find surprisingly cool to have the kitchen at the back) and no shower. The Nugget as well as the Westphalia on a VW Bus are pretty common here in Germany. (And they blend it really well.) My colleague has one and he says the best bit is really that bed on top. He is a tall guy and sleeping there is a dream and really practical. You are gonna love your new van! Happy for you both!
Just to add I am worried about shipping it to America in case it gets damaged. It’s just that Tread the Globe shipped theirs and it was damaged. Maybe contact them

I would have gone for pop top for height reasons but I think you are both right with this option. Great van and perfect for adventure without being too big. Take a service kit with you to US as they may not have the sizes needed for the engine in states.

You’ll love the automatic. As a previous stick shifter for 30 years, had to change to automatic because of a disability. Now I wonder why I didn’t change sooner!
Be careful with your possessions when shipping to America. Tread the Globe UA-cam channel revealed major thefts on both journeys to and from the US. Apparently, the contents are not insured in transit. Good luck with your trip in your new and amazing camper van 😊

Beautiful van, I am jealous. I would suggest a tow bar box for your garage. One that swings out so you can open the back still.

Just remember that USA is 110v so you will need a big enough transformer (110v to 240v) to operate all your electrical needs inside the camper.

I noticed that you used your left foot on the brake. Never use your left foot when driving. You ONLY use your right foot in an automatic. Love you two.
Agreed. To begin with, tuck your left foot behind your right one. It sounds awkward, and is to begin with, but it is better than hitting that brake pedal with your left foot!
My Mrs does that too, I tell her it's weird but to be fair she is a safer driver than me.........

Awesome guys! It‘s pretty similar to the Ford Nugget and just like your‘s its huge on the inside. The base is a Ford custom in two wheel base sizes and it‘s really brilliant. The Nuggets do have a different kitchen setup (which I find surprisingly cool to have the kitchen at the back) and no shower. The Nugget as well as the Westphalia on a VW Bus are pretty common here in Germany. (And they blend it really well.) My colleague has one and he says the best bit is really that bed on top. He is a tall guy and sleeping there is a dream and really practical. You are gonna love your new van! Happy for you both!

I would have gone for pop top for height reasons but I think you are both right with this option. Great van and perfect for adventure without being too big. Take a service kit with you to US as they may not have the sizes needed for the engine in states.
