Link doesn't play sadly, but as an Aspie... who has some sound sensitivity... it's nice to be represented
The timing is also perfect since its actually world autism month! 💜🐰♾️
Maybe it was intentional?
That was on purpose
Wait I’m autistic nobody told me I had a month
I relate to twyla a lot because I’m also autistic,I like to stay in the shadows like twyla,I HATE loud noises, I fidget with a necklace that I always wear and I will always spill a lot of random information out of nowhere
My son has autism. He says his autism brain is why his horror costumes have to be perfect. As for random info... I have heard MOM DID YOU KNOW? Alot especially about dinosaurs when he was little. ❤
@@nicole4c475 please 😭 the amount of times my mom has had to listen to me spell random info about dolls
Hello! Another autistic person here! I've bored my dad and friends thousands of times just spilling random information like:"Hey, did you know that there's around 6 sheep per person in New Zealand? Or did you know that like every other Finn owns a sauna? Or do you know what the capital of Nauru is? Many of my friends have told me to shut up because I'm talking too much, or too loudly, I can't hear myself very well so sometimes my normal speaking voice sounds like yelling, and they've commented on that as well.
Yeah. Autism can have similar quirks in a lot of people. Loud noises.... Hoo boy. It's pain. It makes the inner ears ache.
Preferring to not have attention is another thing too. I mean being on the sides of a classroom or in the back is a lot of stress relief.
Stress. That leads to stemming as physically reacting and need to let it out in a quiet manner or start yelling.
Memory works only when we're interested. Otherwise, it's....mm uh... What was I talking about? I jest. But this'll be true for some.
I love how this gen isn't bothering to hide the representation, it's just like: NB,Gay,Autistic Like, you can't mistake it or missinterprate it for anything, it's just there.
who is gay in monster high g3 tho?
@@choco-dog7987 Cleo De Neil is crushing on Frankie and Vica/versa. Season 1 episode 18: Horoscare.
Also the fact we have an episode summary for later on clarifying that Frankie is going to ask Cleo out to the Monster Ball and the current evidence points to it being recipricated.
@@playererror4044 I dont think it was confirmed tho that Cleo has feelings for Frankie. Too early to tell. Ill wait for the future episodes. That episode just hinted on the possibilty.
@@choco-dog7987 idk, she seems shy at the end of the episode and the way they look at each pther 2
If anything Cleo would likely be bi. Just because Cleo might be crushing on Frankie doesn't mean Cleo is gay (again she could be bi) but also remember Frankie isn't a girl.
IM ACTUALLY CRYING RN THIS MEANS SO MUCH TO ME
frrrr i havent watched monster high yet but i saw a few clips and i was sobbing, she's really great representation 🥺
As and autistic person with specifically NVLD I'm happy to see representation in a character that I love and how much care they put into her design. If you look at her doll she has spiderwebs molded on her ears as ear plugs so that made me excited to buy her. Plus I suffer from hyperacusis (medical term for loud noises causing intense physical pain, like knives in your ears) so I'm happy they didn't treat it like she was crazy for it and didn't play up her autism which I have gotten made at other shows for doing. Love you videos, they calm me down after the over stimulation from work. 💓
I have autism and I am happy to know that there are people who care about our representation in the world... This means a lot to me...thanks monster high❤🎉
Thank you for putting the episode link there I love it when people don’t gatekeep
I feel like Twyla was in the episode before she actually got introduced but she was just like hiding in the shadows lol
10:23 Frankie does a ritual that effects every Undead student making them mad hungry even draculaura said "I want to suck your blood"(yes i know scary)
As someone who is autistic well I have a form of autism, asperges to be precise I'm kinda annoyed that she was so willing to accept them as her friends as ppl know autistic ppl well it might just be me but we struggle to make friends and struggle to keep them I only have 1 friend, I would've liked her to be a little more cautious of telling Draculaura and the gang because she hardly knows them and from experience telling ppl about your disability usually doesn't end well 😮💨 so I'm happy to be represented I just would've liked them to go about it differently instead of making them friends straight away let her get to know them more before telling them about her autism but that's just me
yea i kinda agree to i allsio have aspergers i try making friends but some have been verry mean when i tell them and say im just difficalt i would of liked her to of been a little more nevous bout it ☺apart from that its spot on 🥲
I haven’t watched the animation yet- but since I’m autistic myself I kinda struggle really having friends in the first place. Often times autistics stick to one friend in particular- and while I don’t have a problem with what she’s written- it would be nice to see.
it depends though, some people you just click with. Plus Frankie reads as being neuro-divergent too, makes it easier to see someone as a friend sometimes if you know they'll get it.
@@KestralKuthule Yeah but I mean she hardly knew Frankie and Clawdeen even Draculaura makes it known she doesn't know them but she was still willing to tell ppl she hardly knew that she was autistic that's my problem
@@Neo-Queenserenityt2l and I'm willing to tell anyone I meet I'm autistic. Again not getting the issue?
Ooh I wish creepover Frankie had those shorts
I wish we had characters like this when I was a kid
I haven’t watched the show, but she makes me so happy. I struggled to accept that I was autistic until I was in my mid teens (I was diagnosed at 3 years old) due to internalized ableism and bullying. Most of the representation I grew up with was heavily stereotyped. So seeing this is very comforting for me, it makes my inner child very happy!
You know, I’m an autistic woman, I love Twyla, I like many always got ND vibes from her in G1. (Hell, G3 Frankie was giving me the same vibes…) I should be happy, but… I don’t know, after all of G3’s fauxgression thus far, I’m just kinda numb. I think talking Ghoulia’s already showed us how they feel about disabilities you can’t see.
I’m an autistic guy myself, to me-the way they treated ghoulia just showed me their only okay with autistic people if they can pass as NT
Ik ghoulia wasn’t canonically autistic but it still comes off as them porposly taking out all of the “inconvient” parts of her disablity like her slouch and only interacting in zombie so she can look “normal”
If anything ghoulia honestly gave me the most autistic vibes, her bio stating she hates change , needs a routine and struggles to express herself all just screamed autistic to me yet they took all of that way and only focus on her being a gamer
I still hate the whole “she uses a skateboard to move around” yes Ik she’s a zombie but that’s still really unsafe she can lose balance and fall-just give her mobility aids a lot of fans often redesigned her with them
What’s ND?
Heya, also autistic. Regarding the talking Ghoulia thing I think that's kind of an unfair criticism of G3 (speaking on the topic of disability representation specifically) seeing Ghoulia has always spoke. As Lizzie touched on in the video Ghoulia was never canonically nonverbal it was just a really really popular headcanon. In the canon of G1 Monster High Ghoulia was speaking another language called Zombie. I understand hoping that G3 would acknowledge that headcanon, but it's also fair to mention a lot of autistic people found that headcanon offensive. I do agree that there's a serious lack of nonverbal and semi verbal representation in media and representation of invisible disabilities in general, but Ghoulia was quite literally never nonverbal representation to beging with.
@@eleegee neurodivergent
@@thefolkpunkskunk Ghoulia may not have been autistic but she was very coded. However, ignoring that Ghoulia had a mobility disorder as she was a shambling zombie.
HUZZAHHH !!1
I just wanna say this real quick personally, I feel this is a little forced cause I’m autistic diagnosed by a doctor, of course and it just feels a little forced
I feel humiliated as hell by this. I also think this is all forced, these people just want money; they don’t care about how people would feel (in a bad way).
As an autistic individual, I’ve had to mask myself for a long time. Seeing this crap makes me want to go into hiding once more. So far as to have death embrace me.
I suspect aspergers in myself (i am on the process of being diagnosed it just takes forever) and this made me cringe. I have gathered a lot of information on autism, and this seems to be based on a complete Stereotype and yes it feels forced ngl. I for example get overwhelmed if there is too much stuff going on then I cannot focus, my facial expression doesnt show it though I just become quiet and "odd". This "representation" seems lazy and forced.
I got so happy when she said 'I am autisic'
Me too I was crying.
Ditto 😊
I’m autistic too!!
@savannawilcox5695but the sad part is that they are always sold out for me😭😭
It’s so weird for me to hear. I get emotional whenever I hear her say it because I’ve always been told to just be normal and stop doing my bunny hands, and to just hear someone say it and not be ashamed of her disability is so nice.
I just noticed that Twyla has a hairpin that looks like a door knob. I THOUGHT IT WAS BOLT OR SOMETHING?? THAT IS SO CUTE!! WHY DOESN'T SHE HAVE THAT ON HER DOLL!!
She does, it’s just not modeled as clearly as it is in the show
I think this it fits her well and I’m starting to love g3 some things still annoy (pink lagoona )me but they getting better every new character reveal
This made me want to cry. Means so much to me because I am autistic and it’s very meaningful to me. 💜
She is like me. Except I have ADHD too.
YAY!! An autistic MH character! I’m autistic as well!😊
from what ive seen, i really like twyla! im autistic and i relate to her a lot. i hide in the shadows, struggle with noise and i fiddle with my bracelet as a stim in the exact same way she does!! my bracelet looks exactly the same but black. ive never watched monster high and would like to grt into it. where can i watch it?
I’m autistic and seeing this is actually incredible. Thanks to the creators! 🎉
Considering I believe this was a head cannon for G1 Twyla, I’m glad the creators actually made it cannon
Literally same. Always had the head cannon and just kind of pretended it was real lolll. But it is !! I love it sm
Honestly so happy that Twyla is autistic, Im autistic and I have to restart my sentences a lot and struggle with loud noises
1:53 I think she does it when she is experiencing sensory overload. I’m autistic and when I experience sensory overload I personally become very loud screaming and crying and go completely nonverbal and bang my arms on the ground, but other autistic people can just go completely silent when experiencing sensory overload, and I think her shadow form is a representation of that. The only times we’ve seen her do it is in a loud cafeteria, and when she’s covering her ears because of loud noises, so that backs up my theory.
NO WAY!! This makes me so happy!
I wish there’s an arc where she masks her disability but it slips with the startling noises. I feel like that would be more realistic because girls are usually higher functioning than male autistics.
High funcationing and low funcationing don’t exist tho, the only reason girls “act higher funcationing” is due to sexism, with how girls are raised vs boys , it has nothing to do with “how can you funcation” as those labels were made for n*zis to determine which autistic person to kill and which to have them work
The spectrum more so refers to what traits you may show as many people show different traits
Haveing a lot of disabilities two of them me being autistic with adhd surten loud noises do scare me though theres a lot more then just noices so i kinda already knew she was by the first and second gen
i love twyla! she’s my favorite! yay!!! :D
8:04 I see you SpongeBob 😂 (episode reference I didn't actually see him. You get it...)
I'm glad people are happy with the representation...But I'm AuDHD, and Frankie feels way closer to my experience of neurodivergence. Also, I get Twyla's ark about not wanting to grow up (I felt that a lot as a teen too), but her voice sounds so childish to me that it feels infantilizing. Compared to her voice in the music video, I find it difficult to connect with her story cause her voice is so grating to me. I don't know, her portrayal so far feels cheaper and less natural than what I see from autistic people around me. Again, I'm happy if seeing her is healing to you 😇 It just seems like we've accepted the character without much criticism cause we're so starved of good representation
Hall Laura White Ruth Davis David
Her voice is adorable
I like that it's explicit representation the character said they're artistic
