- It's a writing experiment! I followed my Writer's Clock through its many phases -- edit, more coffee, consider a new career, etc. -- for 12 hours and learned a bit about how starting over completely can be the best option.

I'm commenting this before watching the video (~*~cough I'm supposed to be working right now cough cough~*~) but from the title and thumbnail alone -- I just want to say that I appreciate this clock schedule blocking out a whole hour just for crying. Top notch time management right there.
Bahaha right!? It's like "I know you need to do this, so you have a whole hour, but try to keep it all in that hour, mmkay?"

Procrastination definitely deserves a spot on the clock, maybe productive procrastination (great choice for reduced procrastination guilt) I mean...who hasn't cleaned their bathroom to avoid a tough edit??
Bahaha! I love the term "productive procrastination" and is 100% how I justify it to myself too. YES, totally needed on the clock!

I feel like doing this from noon to midnight would be fun!
I would probably take out "Drink Heavily" because I don't drink, and put in a rest time given I just wrote, reviewed, and edited things almost completely back to back. Plus, if I'm resting, I'm usually thinking about the project, if I'm thinking about the project I'm usually overthinking it, which will usually lead to crying and considering a new career/hobby!
Lololol the perfect cycle! I would love to meet the person who can just "think" and not "overthink."

I would probably change Drink Heavily to Exercise/Yoga since 1) I don’t drink and 2) doing exercise is one of my health goals
I LOVED THIS VIDEO, i thought it was so cool to use the clock, as somewhat of a boss. also this sounds weird but i was wondering if you coulc do like weekly shoutouts or somthing for smaller creaters, i had the names of a few who really deserve more attention Taylor Ann writes, and Millie Florence

Yessssss! Get you one! This one was from the Women's Fiction Writers Association. I'm not sure if they still make them, but you could search it up.
(Or make your own, like I'm debating trying someday bahahaha.) Cannot recommend enough, it's so fun and puts a smile on my face every time I look up to check the time!

Hey Kate! Great video as always ! I was just wondering if since getting your mechanical keyboard, has your writing flow/ productivity increased? I’m thinking of getting one for myself but I don’t know if it’s worth it if I already have a laptop that has a perfectly capable keyboard 🥲
So I'm not sure that my personal writing flow or productivity has increased. I will say that I quite like the sounds of the mechanical keyboard so maaaaaaybe I'll continue typing just to hear the sounds and that can help prompt something in my story? But otherwise I'm not sure!
On a comfort level, as I've had so much trouble with my wrist in the past year, I'm not sure I could say if one is better than the other. But if you get a mechanical keyboard that sits a little high up, definitely get yourself a wrist rest to set in front of it. (They're not too expensive,

Try instead of hours go based off of minutes. There might be some benefits. 😃
I thought about that!! Maybe for a very, very short (flash fiction?) story. I'm more scared of the coffee, drink heavily, and more coffee so quick together.
But as scared as I am, of course that means I'll have to try it bahaha.
@@KateCavanaugh since you’re modifying hours to minutes, you can modify the drinking portions, too, no? I instead of having a whole drink each time it comes up, have one cup for the duration of the challenge and divide how much you drink from it into the number of times it says on the clock. E.g. if there are 3 coffee runs in the clock, then you drink 1/3 cup in the short challenge

I honestly dont understand why people hate it. I really liked it. But to each their own or however that saying goes
Bahahah! No, I didn't! My expectations were probably too high but also I found there to be too many inconsistencies and weird directorial choices. That said, there were a lot of really touching moments that I was so glad to see (as Obi-Wan is one of my favorites characters in the whole universe).
Just a little advice.. if you write by hand, take a break and stretch your fingers every now and then. You'd be suprised how sore and achey you hands can get.
What keyboard are you using i like it
It's a Ubotie! My sister-in-law got it for me! The sounds are super fun and it comes in a lot of different colors! Having had it for about half a year now, I will say that a few of the keys have rubbed off a little bit (so you can't see "d" "s" "n" or "l" really anymore, but the rest are fine bahaha) but I'd still highly recommend it. :)
