The truth is this fight isn't close at all. For the fact that Kratos(a game character) could be compared to Ultron(A Sci-Fi character) is enough to prove Kratos wins. So about that… the debate is that kratos now had matured and learned to hold back, kratos back then didn’t give a shit about the consequences of killing deity’s or holding back, kratos was once much more raw and unhinged which is where his power came from, that and the fact that he can no longer access half his powers from the Greek saga is why there’s a debate. I personally can’t say for sure who is stronger, he had nothing to lose since he killed his family, now he has that weakness once again in atreus.

The truth is this fight isn't close at all. For the fact that Kratos(a game character) could be compared to Ultron(A Sci-Fi character) is enough to prove Kratos wins. A lot of powers of gameplay characters are downplayed inorder to make the game playable, unlike how it is in movies and comics where characters are allowed to go all out, I mean Kratos was only allowed to carryover some of his powers from one part to another and some powers he is not even really allowed to use because of he is a game character, for example Kratos has the power to control Time but no one ever talks about that because he is not allowed to use it within the game, that power of time alone is enough to erase Ultron.
Using lower version of thor as gauge when he fights against Ultron when using the most powerful versions of Thor to show Thor's achievements it's not very accurate representation

Kratos doesn't just have godly powers protecting his mind from ultron he has the power of the concept of hope which yes he did keep some after god of War 3. Also, it does suck hearing that thor in gow can destroy the yggdrasil fighting, which is infinite universes, and kratos beats him yet is somehow weaker than a being that just takes on universal lvl beings. Even if ultron easily beats them, he should still be weaker than kratos, considering ultron is fighting universe busters and kratos is fighting multiverse busters.
