Brad's solo on this song is one of the things that made me want to play guitar when I first heard it back in '83? (Back when MTV played music instead of garbage) I was about 14 then and still consider this one of the most kick ass guitar solos of all time.
Night Ranger is still incredible - after all these years. Kelly Keagy is still just amazing, too. One of the best singing drummers ever - if not the best. What a talent. Gillis and Watson, and what they did together. Just amazing as well. The new guitar player is good too (Kerry?). Still miss Jeff in the band. But they still rock anyway. This is great stuff.
@@allendean9807 Cool, Allen. For me, the heart and soul of that Band was Jack Blades / Kelly Keagy / Jeff Watson. But real emphasis on Jeff Watson and Kelly. To me... that's where * the sound * came from. Brad is killer, and I love him as a guitarist. But for me, it was more about Jeff. Jack adds an over-the-top element to Jeff's foundation. Just my 2 cents.
First saw Night Ranger when they opened for KISS in January 1983. This was the rocking-est song of their set! Then saw them again in 2001 when they co-headlined with The Tubes for a concert TV taping in Nashville. One of the members wasn't there because he was touring with the band Europe at t he time. In between those two dates I met original keyboardist Alan "Fitz" Fitzgerald at the hotel I was working at in Memphis in 1991. He was touring as the off-stage keyboardist for Van Halen and he and the crew were staying at the hotel. He let me buy him a beer.
My friend saw them open for KISS and left. He really left. He told me the next day there was no reason to sit through a KISS concert after Night Ranger. Mike was always pretty funny, but he was serious this time. I agreed with him.....Just a funny memory from the past.
I would love to see the crowd for once forget their age and give the band back the energy that they are putting out!!! You all are still alive let it show like you did back in the day! Rock on everybody.
Saw Nightranger more than once in Nashville.Great concerts.Remember Brad Gillis playing for Ozzie in Nashville in the early 80s after Rhoades died.I thought he did a great job.
I opened for them back in the mid 90s. Jack was off playing with Damn Yankees. But Brad was still there. Nicest guy in the world. We talked some after sound check. Kelley was kind of a jerk. But it was still a blast. We had a great time...

Supposedly he got kicked out after finishing an album with the rest of the band. They booked shows without him. He had an attorney that got ahold of him after weeks of silence and Brad, Kelly and Jack kept the name (after not keeping it registered for over a decade). Not sure what the truth is exactly.
Blades may not be in his prime, but DLR and Vince Meal could take a lesson from him and work on their craft instead of mailing it in and ripping their fans off.
Ahh, the good old 80's where every single move on stage was choreographed and endlessly practiced before a big tour. Theatrics make for a good arena show, seems a little cheesy in smaller venues..

I was 14 in '83 also, and remember seeing the video for the first time. I couldn't believe how great that solo was and still love it today.
