Man ! I started going to TXST in 2020 and it has changed so much from even then. It is so damn crazy to think how small this town used to be. No matter how different though the people are much the same. I love this place. Wish I could've been around to see it like this!
I was bread and buttered in SMT. I'm 40 now but geez I remember all of this. Good memories of our little town. Times have changed and it's a mini Austin now. Thank you for the flashback.
This brought a tear to my eye...seeing that old aquarena springs sign and the cow from sirloin stockade .I'm proud to have grown up in san marcos...I love my city
I left San Marcos around 80/81 so this video brings back some memories. I saw Eric Johnson and Wet Willie live on stage at a club/bar in San Marcos back then called the "Too Bitter" :>)
I moved to San Marcos in 1996, a decade later and this really reminds me to those years I lived there. I recognize almost every street hehe I don't see a big different. Thank you for sharing this! Great memories!
I was born in 1985 here in San Marcos TX I've lived here all my life and was watching this thinkiNg the same thing it honestly kinda still looks the same especially the downtown square area 😂😂😂 it just alot less crowded which looks so nice. Have a wonderful weekend
Nice bit of history, thanks for posting. Wanted to mention that Ah Via Musicom didn't come out until 1990, Eric Johnson's Tones album came out at the time of the video. The track "Zap" blew me away as a teenager then.
@@Idontwanttopickahandletoday right on. I'm going to send this to my wife, she went to Southwest back then and my daughter is attending school there now. Thanks again for posting.
Thank you for this video! I regularly think about how much San Marco's has changed. Wow has it grown. Its obviously so different today since then. I was really hoping towards the end of the video there would have been more steady hands of filming. For the longest time I have been friendly arguing with people the locations of the retail stores Munden's and Gibson's. Was hoping it would of been filmed! Oh well. Anyone care to give it a try of their locations?
I mean what if you could go back in time; into that day, into that very spot. Knowing very well you go never go back into 2020 until it arrives in another 34 years. Would you do it ? That would be a heavy burden to bare. The weight you would carry everyday would be just too painful. Sure it sounds cool from afar but no, there would be immense responsibility that would come with that.
This looks so different, compared to now. San Marcos 2019.

I moved to San Marcos and started SWT the Spring semester of '82 and still live here. Thanks for the memories!

I met Eric Johnson at a tote the note lot on Burnet rd in Austin. I complimented his music and he is so humble.

@@adrenalineguy The funny thing is we lived in Austin and would drive are old cars to San Marcos. Now I live here.
I can’t believe how different it looks. My dad would’ve lived here around this time, I live here now :)
wow. insane. university campus was a lot greener, as was the rest of the town. a bit of a concrete jungle now.
I lived in SM from 1975 to 2015, this brings back memories
Did you ever meet George Strait?
San Marcos is totally different now except for one thing.... that late night Whataburger
That Whataburger is still in the same place!
Actually, they moved it. It's like 200 feet from where it was. They built a new building right next to the old one and then demolished the old.
This video made my week
Who remember wuest grocery store?
🙋🏻♀️

Munden’s used to be where the Old Chuck Nash Auto was located, now Bushes Chicken close to BP.
Valentno Pizza was good back then
But now it’s Sunnys pizza
No traffic! I kept looking for my Black CJ7 Jeep Laredo. lol
These were simpler times

Good One!!✌😎👍
holy shit it's so weird to see like this
I am TEXAN❤️❤️
Thje first part of the video looks like southbound I-35 at Ben White/St. Elmo in Austin before the shots around San Marcos start.
You are correct , I am a huge Pontiac fan was trying to get shot of the yellow Firebird Formula you see briefly at start.
So we are watching this video and Brian asks, is this my friend Martin? Sure enough.
The one and only!!
‘89 Rattler in da house
Very different to how it looks now
Texas state !!! Ya heardddd meeee
It’s completely different nowadays
I was literally just there for a soccer tournament... weird
Imagine investing in properties around this time! Business would be booming because of all the college kids renting apartments right now!
Currently living there rn 🙌🏾. TXST in this bitch ! 😂💪🏾
Unfortunately it moving around so much made me feel kind of sick, it looked a lot different though.
Where does someone recover footage like this?
I had a video cam as a teen and when recordable dvds came out I transferred.
Go cats!
The yellow store used to be conoco lmao
