In 1969 our group of 9 boys and one adult, I was 15 years old, camped at the 2nd lower lake across from Thin Dome that you can see near the end of this video. Spent two nights and had one of the best fishing days of our lives at the middle Rae Lakes. I put some foil around a hook and my home made lure still caught trout. Ate our limit for lunch and caught another limit of 10 trout for dinner. Thanks for this video for the long ago memories.

My brother and I hiked the back country behind Yosemite for years. We went in early June to beat the crowds - some years, we'd go 7 -8 days without seeing another human being. Sweet. Watching these videos brings back so many memories. I'm 71 now and my hiking days are done. All I can say is go while you're able - your last hike will come sooner than you think. (This guy's right - climbing above 11,000, 12,000 feet will kick your ass - but it's so worth it)

Will, I can't write any logical comment about that unbelievable nature's beauty!!
You can just silently sit, look at it with jaw dropped, inhale to every single cell in your body! So wonderful!!
Anyways, thanks so much for another great music tip (after Blackberry Smoke! :).
Can't wait for the next year :)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I kept saying to myself, " I can't wait until they get to Mt. Bachelor." I think the beauty actually increases around that area. Your videos are well done and fun to watch, I've appreciated them.

The Rae Lakes, to me, are the most beautiful spot on your whole PCT trip -- what a camp site (away from the crowd!) and overlook vista for the sunset, simply jaw-dropping beauty to be surrounded by.

Just started watching this episode now and had to pause it to comment on the huge Subway I spotted in Daniel's pack whilst you are getting a hitch back to the trail. There's never enough food for us hikers!!!

You really are lucky to have to time, money and health to see and be in those beautiful locations.
Enjoy it while you can, and thanks for sharing ...

I was there one year and a few days ago doing the JMT! Those rocks coming down Glen Pass seemed to be the worst part. I almost started forgetting the sequence of events but this brought it back. Life just felt so good during those weeks. Thanks for this reminder!

I hiked the JMT last year and I'm planning to do the AT in 2017 so I've been watching your videos. For many reasons the Whitney summit, Forester Pass, and Rae Lakes videos just made me miss the trail so much. The Sierra are where my heart lives, so thank you so much for these videos.

I've watched all your AT/PCT videos over the last week or so, really awesome. You've inspired me to visit the States and Yosemite. Maybe even try the whole PCT at some point.

I followed your hike last year and this one, too. Looks amazing there! Sorry your trip got cut short. Can't wait to see a recap/thoughts video.

Nicely paced with relaxed narration. Good job on the panning. A brief discussion of vegetation zones might be informative .
A geologic or topo map could provide good line of sight estimations in miles of a formation in the distance. This area is not far from the 2007 single engine plane crash of adventurer Steve Fossett , which was found a year later by a hiker.

beautiful, great job. Judging from the background music, do you guys just listen to the natural sounds, or do you get used to it and have to have music? The few sections with the quite and the birds is just awesome.

    • @RedBeard0924
      @RedBeard0924  9 років тому

Thanks for your question, seriously. Whenever I post music in my videos I'm attacked however I'm thru hiking, meaning I'm hiking for months on end. Whenever I ventured into the woods for a few days or so in the past i never listened to music, ever. But once I began hiking for 1,000's of miles in one trip I started to listen to music to relive the boredom. It has to be experienced to understand. ✌🏼️

No definitely not, I didn't post anything hardly from the JMT section due to endless amounts of footage and not enough time. My thru hiking days r done for a while.

  • @GeeksFishToo

Seriously... you talked about the trout on the lake and I haven't seen anything about you fishing for them. If I was hiking that route I'd make room for a pack rod! Would be nothing quite like pristine waters fish fried over a wood fire. I suppose if everyone did that it would be bad... but still. At least once per trip... better than the Subway that Daniel had! haha

Sorry to hear that I hope you survive. Hike every day for months on end and I bet you will listen to music from time to time.
