Words cannot describe how much I got out of Nintendo Land. Especially Mario Chase and the Luigi's Mansion Ghost Hunt thing, those two I played so much with two close friend neighbours of mine and my sister. I have so many memories of it
Thanks for inviting me onto the channel, Zion! I'd like to say it inspired me to dust off the Wii U, but the thought of trying to find the charger for the gamepad makes me feel unwell. Cheers! - Liam
My brother and I popped that on recently, and we're now playing through it whenever he comes around! Not sure how it slipped under the cracks for us back in the day!
I used to spend hours playing my dad in Mario Chase. We almost never played any other minigame together, but that experience alone makes this game one of my favorites. Plus all the other minigames are top-tier as well! I played all the single player ones and had an absolute blast!
I got my Wii U for my birthday in early 2013 with Nintendo Land included. For a good couple of years, when I would have friends over they would always ask to play Mario Chase and Luigi's Ghost Mansion, and at no point did they ever lose their fun factor for us. For that alone, Nintendo Land will always be special to me, but the game as a whole remains one of my favourite Wii U games for its incredible presentation and gameplay variety.
*_I KNOW..._* right...?! Even though I was lucky enough recently to get a second-hand Nintendo Wii U with the _Nintendo Land_ video game packed in with it (as a digital download video game title, along with the _Super Mario 3D World_ video game title), it *_ABSOLUTELY_*_ _*_*NEEDS*_* to come to Nintendo Switch or its successor video game system (more likely the latter); so that people can play it online on the proverbial go when they are out and about away from home!!! Even just me in watching video game gameplay videos on UA-cam of the Yoshi's Fruit Cart minigame (I haven't yet played that minigame or any of the other minigames in _Nintendo Land_ in due to time constraints) makes me want to play Nintendo Land - largely because of its charm and the fact that Yoshi looks *_*SO*_*_ _*_CUTE_* there!
nintendo land still one of the best tech demo-type launch titles ever I love it so much i played so much mario chase... also a year 1 Wii U owner, now I know there is at least 11 others
As a long long time Wii U owner I'm telling you that you definitely need to "upgrade" your Wii U gives you waaay more to do with it 😉 like ds n gb/c/gba
I’ve been listening for like 10 whole minutes and only now I’m realizing that I’m listening to an unfamiliar voice! That’s how natural this whole conversation felt, as if I knew this new guy already! I don’t know if you’re in this video as a guest or new member, but welcome anyways!
While _Nintendo Land_ can't come to the Nintendo Switch *_by itself,_* it *_*could*_* come to the Nintendo Switch's *_successor_* video game system - *_IF_* the Nintendo Switch's successor video game system was a *_home console_* video game system, with the Nintendo Switch in being the optional "gamepad" for it as it would be able to be connected to its successor video game system.
Coincidentally, I played Nintendo Land last weekend with my brother and sister! We wanted to play some nostalgic games and by now we've played the Luigi Mansion and Metroid games more than a thousand times. Still a very fun game to this day. And yes, we have the Wii U since its release.
Nintendo Land is still one of my go-to party games if I have 4 other people to play with. I brought my Wii U with me to college my junior and senior year and, especially during my senior year when I lived in a house with a bunch of other guys, there were many nights we stayed up late playing Mario Chase and Animal Crossing Sweet Day
Year One Wii U owner here too! I still think NintendoLand should be regarded almost just as much as Super Smash Bros as a love letter to Nintendo and their franchises. There’s just so much detail and thought put into each and every mini game representing a franchise (well, maybe not Game & Watch Octopus Dance…) and it was such a key game to show just what the Wii U could do!
Me and my sister spent hours playing The Legend of Zelda tour! She'd play as a swordsman with the wii remote and I'd play as the archer with the gamepad, it was a ton of fun! :) P.S. And yeah, we also played a LOT of Mario Run 😅
Wii Fit U and Wii Party U will never come to Switch, and I personally think that both games are an underrated Wii U gem, especially Wii Fit U. Sure, you probably won't get much more fit with it, but it's certainly one of the most creative games for the Wii U!
It's always strange to me that the black deluxe Wii U was the more common model. That was the one I wanted to get at launch but they were sold out, so I just settled for the basic version. I actually got a call a week or so later saying there were deluxe ones in stock if I wanted to come trade up, but I had already bought and downloaded a bunch of stuff on the one I had so I decided to just stick with it. Now when I think of the Wii U I always picture the way less common white game pad.
This can stay on the Wii U, but Wii Party U desperately needs a sequel.(Nintendo Switch Party or 'Mii' Party) And no SMP is not a good substitute for it despite the variety of modes.
Both those Nintendo Land Zelda and Metroid games were amazing and such great ideas from Nintendo to try to introduce our younger gamers to the First person perspective and shooters. To me they are the conceptual prequels to Splatoon.
My cousins played, and still play, this game to death. Mario chase is some of the best fun I’ve had with a party game. Nintendo land is beyond underrated.
It seems like every time this game is brought up, no one mentions the train mode! That mode had so much potential, it even works really well as is, it just would have been better if everyone had their own Wii U to practice the single player games
I'd completely forgotten about Nintendo Land, I do remember now being very disappointed with it though. I think a big problem is by the time the WiiU came out, my friends no longer had time to come round and play games any more and it was very shallow in single player.
My Wii U was bundled with both 3D World and Nintendo Land. I wish I could've played more of it, but I didn't have anyone who wanted to play with me, at the time
I still consider Nintendo Land in my top 10 games. It's originality and quality of games was amazing. It's probably the best game I've ever seen that shows off specific capabilities of the system it was designed for
Nintendo Land holds so many family memories - it will always hold a wonderful place in my heart ❣️ I find it odd though that people seem to dislike the ninja star game! It's genuinely my favourite of the single player games! Really enjoyed the chat, guys! Thanks for the brilliant homage to this gem that will forever be in its tomb!
I honestly think if Nintendo released these mini games free with online membership, people would play these to death. Especially if there were online rankings and achievements.
I credit this game for getting me into Nintendo outside of Mario. If it wasn't for this game, I would never have really gotten into some of my favorite series like The Legend of Zelda, but especially Metroid, with the Metroid Blast game. It might be my favorite party game, and one of the best multiplayer games, which is something I always appreciated the Wii U for. I hope that they make a sequel to this game. There is so much potential for different kinds of games they could create on the Switch. Happy 10th Anniversary to this game!
I think the Wii U is a must own for any Nintendo fan. If you mod/hack that thing, it can play Gamecube games natively (in addition to Wii and Wii U games, obviously). I currently have all y Wii controllers, multiple Wavebirds, and 2 different Game Pads around my entertainment system. Without a Wii U, how are people to play those legacy games by Nintendo? You sure as heck are gonna be able to play them on the Switch.
Such a great game showcasing the use of the Gamepad. This game alone is worth getting a Wii U. My daughter and I are currently playing the Pikmin attraction!
The singleplayer games would be tough to make work on the Switch, but I think the multiplayer games are possible to make work with two consoles. The biggest limitation would be the number of bluetooth connections combined with the connection to another switch, especially in a game like metroid blast that would require both joycons.
I never had a Wii U, but I remember that this was the game that almost made me want to own one. I absolutely loved watching people play the Luigi's Mansion minigame online.
My girlfriend and her siblings always talk about this game and how they used to have a blast playing it. In my case I became a Wii U owner preety late in its life cycle, the bundle my brother and I got back in the day included Splatoon and Smash Bros. I have my Wii U covered in dust and Ive always wanted to try this one out, for me theres so much mistery surrounding the game and no the mention the memories my gf and her siblings have shared with me. I just realized I can't keep on without playing Nintendo Land. After watching this video I got so pumped that Im actually ordering a used copy from Amazon. Thanku guys! Hope to have a great experience with my family and create my own memories with this beautiful game.
I couldn't make heads or tails of Nintendo Land from the trailers, so I held off on buying a Wii U. What made me finally cave to purchase one was Mario Maker! I had so much FOMO as I saw it spread like a brushfire over Twitch and UA-cam, and I always liked designing my own platformer stages. When I finally got it, I was not disappointed and had so much fun with Mario Maker. I need to check out Nintendo Land again... Didn't have anyone else to play with last time I tinkered around with it. Which reminds me, I've seen video of people using Steam Deck as a Wii U gamepad, with a wired display showing the Wii U standard output... Hmmmmm.
I remember literally rolling around on the floor laughing my a.. off playing this game with my wife and 3 kids. Our son was 11 and twin daughters were 8 and all were active in their own interests, but this game was a rare thing we all agreed upon as fun and relaxing. Recommend it to anyone having a few friends over. Definitely couch co op at its best!
My brother bought a Wii U when Mario Kart released. I popped over his to have a go and I had so much fun. So much so I realised I just wasn't having that with my Xbox. I went out the next day and bought a 3ds and again became the Nintendo fan boy I was when I was a kid.
I promise you. If Nintendo ever released Nintendo Land for Switch, I would buy a Switch Lite immediately, so that could be used as the gamepad when people play it. I PROMISE you.
When I got my Wii U at launch I was happy with just Nintendo Land but the guy selling said I had to get another game. I picked the Batman game having no idea if I'd like it, but really enjoyed it including the gamepad scanning. I've since completed every game in the Arkham series and playing Gotham Knights now.
I was a day one WiiU buyer. I pre-ordered the deluxe version and I bought New Super Mario Bros U and Batman to go with it. Unfortunately, I mostly played the single player games in Nintendoland because I just moved to a new city and I didn’t know anyone.
Not only was I a year one Wii u owner, I was a DAY one owner. And I was definitely interested in the ports from other systems. My gf at the time got me Batman Arkham city armored edition, and I purchased Assassin's Creed. I was never a big fan of the other game companies so it was the first time I could play those games on a system I actually owned. That said, Nintendo Land was so much fun and I still boot it up occasionally.
I have to be one of the few naysayers. I played NL for probably not even an hour and put it away forever. For me the best thing the WiiU had with the gamepad was the two Zelda games using the touch screen for added buttons. In a mild way it brought me back to intellivision with the slip covers for the controller. I wish more games had taken advantage of that feature in the same or similar way.
As cool as the idea of bringing Nintendo Land to the Switch is, I agree-it’s most likely not going to happen. You would need a way to emulate the Wii U’s Gamepad, and it’s just not that practical.
I did get a deluxe Wii U on day 1, but I also got New Super Mario Bros. U as well. I haven't played a lot of my copy of Nintendo Land, I really should; I think I had other games I was playing at the time, so this one unfortunately got lost in the backlog. I do remember loving the idea of a Nintendo IP theme park when I first heard of this game. Maybe there'll be a Nintendo Land 2 for the Switch.
imo, this game should've been bundled with all Wii U's, not just the deluxe set. The deluxe set already had other advantages like extra storage and the stands. Those few extras may not have been enough to warrant another $50, but not including Nintendo Land like they did with Wii Sports was a mistake These days I know it's hard to find the basic white Wii U, but when it launched I remember it being the most common (we had to go to like 3 different stores to finally find the deluxe set). I'm sure that probably made the purchase a lot harder to justify for the soccer moms who just thought they were getting another Wii with a new controller
I could see this game coming to switch. Maybe add some new mini games, and perhaps some would have to be locked behind online or local play (like Mario chase and Luigi’s Mansion) 🤷🏻♂️ maybe not the most ideal but I’d take that
I'm a year 1 owner because my dad bought me the Wii u when I was in the hospital about 10 years ago when I had cancer, and me and my friends play it all the time 24/7. Best console ever change my mind.
imagine a Switch 2 was Wii U but backwards. You hold the Switch in your hands and it can broadcast to a TV with a dock. Maybe this could come back then
I feel like it could come to Switch or Switch successor but they'd have to completely overhaul it and change things... some games would probably require local or online play. BUT I feel like it could probably lose a good part of it's charm. I feel like people will say "it's not the same" and if that's the case, that's why they haven't done it yet.
nintendo land was such a bizarre way to start the Wii u- I was immensely disappointed with it on it's initial reveal "mini games are what Nintendo is using to show off the wii u? where's x where's y" - but like most Nintendo games, after playing it I was sold
I bought a WiiU a couple of years ago (AUD$300 with 10 games) and played this game for like 10 minutes and never picked it up again. Looks like I better set it up!
I gave my fair and square chances with Wii U, It had some games that i really enjoyed, Star Fox: Zero may have been a hit or miss for some and i wish it would have done better. Most of my playtime to get the best out of the system goes to Smash 4, original Mario Kart 8 and the Zelda HD ports. The only downside for me is how distracting the Gamepad can be if it shows the same thing on the TV. Later on during the Wii U era, i was mostly playing and enjoying things more on 3DS, next to that PS4, only a little Xbox One and was slowly getting more into PC gaming. Overall, it had the best it had to offer and i continue liking Nintendo stuff. 😉
I’m looking to get a Wii U, because I missed out on a lot of Nintendo games and not just Nintendo games for personal reasons. I know I wouldn’t make up for lost time for that. I really do hope that Nintendo DS bring Nintendo land to the switch because from what I’ve seen of Nintendo land, that’s far it looks interesting.
For my family this was basically Wii Sports but better, even for the people who never played games. It just worked for some reason. However, the non-gamers wouldn't really touch anything but the competitive multi-player. Metroid was basically a no-go, and there was a small group that liked Zelda.
The Wii U came out before I was an adult and making my own money so my parents got me a white one and I have been using a usb stick to store all my game saves and DLC and VC since 2012 and It would ocassionally give me errors and crash but I Just never upgraded
I left work during lunchtime to get my Wii U on Launch night. I was the last person to get one. My family love the Wii U and still play until this day. And listening to this video got me cracking up because I guess I was the only one running to get Batman Arkham City Armored Edition. 😂 Sadly that was the first Arkham game I played, because I only own Nintendo systems.
I going to say this this game might come to Switch just broken down into games only compatible with the Switch like if we gotten a different location of IR camera on the right Joy-con or some accessory to make all the games work then maybe like any game that you need the actual camera might have to cut but everything else could come
You convinced me to to dust of the WiiU gamepad and give this another go, but the damn console just keeps flashing a blue light at me. I've not turned it on in years and I think it's dead. :(
This is partially why the system was a failure for me. I have never played any of these games despite owning a copy. I have no one to play these multiplayer experiences with and so Nintendo land was something that I gave up on within an hour after starting it. I don't remember playing a single thing shown on video except the ninja start throw and I thought. Boy is this lame. So then I put in the Super Mario 3D world and said this is such a pitifully easy game. That was it, the Wii U was done for me. It became just the thing used to load Netflix on my amazing CRT HD monster.
I don't think Nintendo Land was a reason more to the Wii U's failure AT ALL. I don't agree either with what one of the 2 on the video said, "My grandma and my parents didn't want to play with me and because of that I knew this was not going to be a success, JUST BECAUSE THE WII WAS family oriented, the Wii U had to be like that too!, the fkn "U" on the name represents "YOU", because literally in every presentation of the console, Nintendo emphasized that this console was more influenced by single player gaming, just like most of the other consoles in the market, and even then, instead of having this focus on "family" like the Wii, it has a lot more focus on "friends". Literally anyone that played Nintendo Land both in single player and multiplayer with friends, knows that it's a 10x times better game than Wii Sports. The failure was caused purely because of it's marketing, NOTHING ELSE. // Btw: If someone wants to talk about it's flaws, well, the Switch has A LOT too, I would say that it has a lot more flaws than the Wii U had, the Wii also has flaws, so do not hide or enhance your criticism based mostly on low sales.
Words cannot describe how much I got out of Nintendo Land. Especially Mario Chase and the Luigi's Mansion Ghost Hunt thing, those two I played so much with two close friend neighbours of mine and my sister. I have so many memories of it
And freaking too

1:20 Excuse me. I was a Wii U early adopter. There are Thirteen of us. Also, Scott the Woz is like 8 of them.
I am also a part of that 13 lol
There's dozens of us! Dozens!
Metroid Blast alone is worth $60.
100%
@@thefraseman That's a weird way to pronounce "Luigi's Ghost Mansion"

I haven't played a lot of my copy of Nintendo Land, I really should; I think I had other games I was playing at the time, so this one unfortunately got lost in the backlog. I do remember loving the idea of a Nintendo IP theme park when I first heard of this game. Maybe there'll be a Nintendo Land 2 for the Switch.
Damn I love Nintendo Land Zelda. As a game dev, I consider it one of the best onrail games ever.
Still playing it!
Year-One Wii owners are basically like Stand Users.
I have 175 hours in Nintendo Land. A local multiplayer party game
Nintendo Land was made to demonstrate the Wii U and made use of its unique controller, of course it's never coming to Switch.
I remember 9-10 years ago I was watching videos of this game for WiiLikeToPlay (WiiRikeToPray)
Great memories 😁
Scaring the piss out of people in the Luigi's Mansion game will always be the best
imo, this game should've been bundled with all Wii U's, not just the deluxe set. The deluxe set already had other advantages like extra storage and the stands. Those few extras may not have been enough to warrant another $50, but not including Nintendo Land like they did with Wii Sports was a mistake
These days I know it's hard to find the basic white Wii U, but when it launched I remember it being the most common (we had to go to like 3 different stores to finally find the deluxe set). I'm sure that probably made the purchase a lot harder to justify for the soccer moms who just thought they were getting another Wii with a new controller
I could see this game coming to switch. Maybe add some new mini games, and perhaps some would have to be locked behind online or local play (like Mario chase and Luigi’s Mansion) 🤷🏻♂️ maybe not the most ideal but I’d take that
Yeah me too, We hope this game called Nintendo Land will come to Nintendo Switch soon. (#ReleaseNintendoLandonSwitch)
Maybe this could come back then
Without a doubt my favourite party game!
Early adopter. My kids love to play Nintendo Land! Your analysis was spot on.
nintendo land was such a bizarre way to start the Wii u- I was immensely disappointed with it on it's initial reveal "mini games are what Nintendo is using to show off the wii u? where's x where's y" - but like most Nintendo games, after playing it I was sold
Oh, Nintendo Land 😭 I wish it would get a Switch sequel.
I fully support and wish we could ever get this on Switch! This game is arguably the peak of Nintendos history! ❤❤❤
The multiplayer content of Nintendo Land is fun, but I loved the Zelda, Pikmin, and Metroid single player missions.
Sadly that was the first Arkham game I played, because I only own Nintendo systems.
This game may not be iconic like wii sport, but make no mistake this is an ecxlent party game whit a lot of nintendo charm
I going to say this this game might come to Switch just broken down into games only compatible with the Switch like if we gotten a different location of IR camera on the right Joy-con or some accessory to make all the games work then maybe like any game that you need the actual camera might have to cut but everything else could come
I feel bad for people that dont own a wii u cause this game is super fun
You convinced me to to dust of the WiiU gamepad and give this another go, but the damn console just keeps flashing a blue light at me. I've not turned it on in years and I think it's dead. :(
If they ever came out with Nintendo Land on the Switch I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Is it really okay though 😭
ITS NOT OKAY ITS NOT OKAY 😭😭😭😭
Nintendoland is the reason I will never move my Wii U out of the living room. It's still my go to party game.
If Nintendo Land were to get something on Switch (which is already unlikely), it would probably be a full-on sequel
I loved the Yoshi game in Nintendoland.
// Btw: If someone wants to talk about it's flaws, well, the Switch has A LOT too, I would say that it has a lot more flaws than the Wii U had, the Wii also has flaws, so do not hide or enhance your criticism based mostly on low sales.
tomodachi life needs to come to the switch though
👋 Day 1 Wii U owner club! I'm platform agnostic, but I've gotten every Nintendo system on launch day since the GBA (for better or worse).
