Oh for a shelf to make the cargo area level with the tailgate and folded rear seats! I started to make one, but then thought wait, I shouldn't have to do this! Otherwise, it's great ride with just a few other minor beefs (have to pry off a cheap piece of plastic to use the mechanical key when you go swimming/diving, and the driver's seat and visors are not great for shorter drivers)
Have an appointment a dealer in a few days to test drive one exactly like this. Black, black wheels and gray cloudtex interior. Glad to see it in this video first.
I just bought my wife the SEL in September, she loves it. I had to drive it a few time, it's a pretty decent vehicle. My only issues are the seating, it's pretty low, and I'm 6'1, also the cabin noise driving over these crappy roads, it's loud rattling sounding and no trunk space.
Just brought a Taos SEL with all the bells and whistles nice car great on the highway love the why it helps keep you in your lane also the adapted cruise is great they did a great job building this one
Do you find that there's an acceleration lag as well. When taking off from a stop?
Congrats! How reliably does Travel Assit keep the Taos centered in its lane on freeways? Thanks!
@@bdelaney101 sure does especially when making a slow turn than hitting the gas
@@jimc750 that's great to hear! I'm looking to getting the Taos S with IQ Drive for roadtrips and really looking forward to enjoying the hands-on semi-autonomous system!
Does the system work in stop-and-go traffic situations? Thanks!
Love our new Taos SE. Thanks for the info. A little too technically explain, could explain this pod cast for the senior driver.
Very good review. I leased a Deep Pearl Black S Model Taos. Instead of the same flat plastic material on the side doors, it came with a beautiful 3D gray diamond pattern on the doors. Also, they must have tuned the engine better. While it is not a sports car. It definitely has plenty of
power for everyday driving.
If you don’t mind me asking, how much is your monthly payment and how much down?
@@stevenkrikor3299 Sorry for the long wait. I had a car whose lease was maturing. There is a company that buys the car from the lender and gives you the equity, in my case $3,500. I used that as the down payment on the VW Taos. I pay $335.00 per month for the lease.
man this black one is so good
New to the channel. Thank you for telling about road noise, not too many people I follow mention that.
Thanks for sharing! Started paying attention to this car while I was comparing other options with Honda HR-V, I really like the 1.5L Turbo engine and the transmission, never bought a VW before, not sure how reliable the mechanics are, especially with Turbo and dual clutch transmission, which might complicate things a little bit.
They’re reliable as long as you maintain them, just requires more attention than a Honda or Toyota
no issues w my 2019 vw jetta w the 1.4T cousin of this engine. and it’s easy to get over 40mpg hwy.
I have a Volkswagen Tiguan 2014 And I only have hundred thousand kilometres on it, it never gave me any trouble I still love it
Just bought mine yesterday! Love it so far!
me too! I like it . looks big inside. love the front & back interior area & also the exterior looks nice too
love every bit of VW’s driving experience, reliability and maintenance cost is a huge problem…
Although the Taos joins the burgeoning category subcompact SUVs another (and imo better) way to understand the Taos North American replacement for basic Golf. (The MK8 Golf will continue to be offered in Europe and other international markets but won't be sent to America where only the MK8 GTI and Golf R will survive.) In essence, the Taos is a stretched version of a basic Golf with a slightly modified version of the Golf's 1.4L engine (increased to 1.5L) and stretched about 8" to 176" in length. That makes it among the largest of the "sub-compact" SUVs and it results in an especially roomy interior for passengers and cargo compared to rivals. With over 66 cubic ft of overall cargo space the Taos not only tops every other sub-compact SUV, it provides as much or more space than several vehicles in the next larger "compact" SUV category. (Lookin' at you, CX-5.)
All in all, the Taos reflects a lesson that VW has learned about American consumers. We want larger (and typically less expensive) VWs than Europeans. Thus, the American Passat is larger than its European counterpart. The US spec compact Tiguan is known in Europe as the "AllSpace" where its typically classified as a midsize (or even a large) SUV. The Atlas and Cross Sport are each larger than the Touareg and neither is sold in Germany. And the current generation Jetta is both larger than the last generation, it's not even sold in Germany. So while the basic Golf remains an iconic small car with generous interior space for Europeans, the Taos replaces it in America with a similar vehicle in an SUV costume and adds AWD the Golf lacks.
Excellent review. Specific and deliberate!
What kind of gas does it take? Do you need premium because of the turbo?
Yes!!!! No cvt. That’s why we ended up getting this. Great gas mileage
Gotta love that like 4” level difference between the back cargo space and the back seats when folded down! So lame... why wouldn’t they’d resign it to be level? Literally why I’m not gonna get the vehicle
In your video you list the base price for the SE and SEL versions of the TAOS as $26,000 and $29,000 before destination charges However, on THE VW website the SE and SEL are listed at $27,245 and $31,490. I am confused.
That is USB, it’s the latest USB-C standard
No mention of awd or fwd in the model in the review.
No mention on how dsg drive compared to Aisin-8 speed automatic transmission?
Any idea how to get it to beep when keyless locked?
Thanks!
I look to buy a used 2022 Volkswagen Taos.
VW Fails with the grey and black seats....why put the grey in sitting area? I have this in my jetta and I hate it......should be reversed!
Wrong, SE trim has wireless charging.
Do you still have the mustang?
@@goldpony Oh man. I wish I knew you were planning to sell it. I would have love to talk to you about purchasing the car. I am in love your set up and the car on a whole. Is it at a dealer that I could contact to get it ?
@@troylong8489 About 10 months ago I sold it thru a dealer but yea I had posted on Instagram that it was for sale and it got bought up pretty quick

I’ve been thinking of getting a Taos and have been watching a lot of reviews on it lately and this is probably one of the most comprehensive and clear reviews I’ve seen. I really appreciate how you outline exactly what comes with each trim level. A lot of reviewers get the highest trim and talk about the features with that like they’re standard on the lower trim levels too, which is kind of annoying. Keep up the great work!
Appreciate it!
