    I used your plans with one difference, I had left over sections of 6 x 6 pressure treat from building proper supports for my deck. I knew I'd use them for something. I think these stands can support 7000 metric tons. Quick and easy build. I'm sure my great grandchildren will appreciate them too. ;)

      You and I sound a lot alike. I usually use the "overkill" method whenever I build anything. I'm glad you were able to use this video to help. Thanks for watching, and I hope your stands last for generations!

    I have to be honest, I’m watching and wondering why I’m not wearing my tool belt often….he’s barely moving out of frame at all, whereas I’m usually running in circles. Great video, very informative!

    Not being a carpenter, or even a handy person, I had trouble following how the wood was put together to form the frame. However... I slowed the video speed down to the lowest setting and it became crystal clear and totally brilliant.Thank you!!!

    Written notes for people who don't want to listen to a video while standing in Home Depot:
    Buy:
    1 4x4 pressure treated 8 foot beam
    1 2x4 pressure treated 8 foot beam
    1 1x6 pressure treated 8 foot beam
    1 box of 3" exterior wood screws
    1 box of 2.5" exterior wood screws (you want the ones that are flat on top so they don't poke the bottom of your barrel)
    Optional wood stain (2 sample sizes should work)
    Home Depot will also make every single cut for you if you ask. My local HD didn't even charge me even though it's more than 2 cuts per piece (it's like a dollar per cut beyond the max, which should be a total of $4 for cuts)
    Cuts:
    4x4: cut into 4 pieces, 2ft each
    1x6: cut into 4 pieces, 2ft each
    2x4: cut into 5 pieces. 2 pieces 22" long. 2 pieces 18.5" long. Offcut will be 15". If you're like me you'll want to not throw this 5th piece away and then let it sit in your garage for 20 years and then leave it there when you sell the house.
    4x4s are the feet. 2x4s go around the outside to hold the feet together (3" screws). 1x6s are the top surface (2.5" screws)
    Be sure to use a square to keep the top surface nice and flat, you want the deck boards resting on the 4x4s and the 2x4s at the same time. Don't worry about the feet lining up, the design is slightly flexible and the weight of the barrel will align the feet for you as long as you got the top surface flat.

      Pisapie - That's fantastic!!! The best part about this build is its customizable. You can make adjust the height to what works for you, or the size for what you need. I'm looking forward to how your build goes and any custom modifications you decided on. Thanks so much for the comment, and thanks for watching our video.

    Love it! But if I needed it higher, would I need to put extra supports on the sides?

      @livinthenewcomblife  10 місяців тому

      @jennyvithoulkas6865 - potentially, but that's only if you need to go up really high. It can't hurt to put the extra supports on the sides if that makes you feel more sure about the build. Thanks for the constructive comment, and thanks for watching our video.

    Thank you; your video was very informative. I would like to know what is the size of the Deck Boards? Where are you using the 2" screws?

    • @livinthenewcomblife
      @livinthenewcomblife  2 роки тому +1

      I used standard decking boards that I purchased from Lowes: 5/4-in X 6-in X 8 feet long. I used the 3 inch screws to create the frame and the 2.5 inch screws to put the decking board down onto the frame. Thank you for watching my video and welcome to the Livin' the Newcomb Life family.

    Hello I just got a couple of questions
    First is the wood you used is it pressure treated ? Or did you just add something after to protect it from the elements?
    Second is if I'm doing two rain barrel stands do I need to just buy two of everything ?
    Thank you for the vidoe

    • @livinthenewcomblife
      @livinthenewcomblife  2 роки тому +1

      I used all pressure treated wood, but I also stained the stand a few months later for added protection and aesthetics. If you are doing two rain barrel stands then you will need two of everything. Thank you for watching my video and if you have time I'd really be interested in seeing how your rain barrel stands turned out, send me a couple of pictures at livinthenewcomblife@gmail.com. Welcome to the Livin' the Newcomb Life UA-cam family. Jerry

    Not sure why you built is so high, it only needs to be just above a 5 gallon bucket. I built mine to your spec and it is too high to tap into the downspout.

    • @livinthenewcomblife
      @livinthenewcomblife  Рік тому +1

      That's a very good point. The beauty of the build is you can customize it to whatever your needs are. I decided on the height I use because I use the rain barrels as gravity feeders for my garden. I hope you were able to get it to work.
      Nothing better than rain water. Thank you so much for watching our video.
