Hope y’all enjoyed the video! I gotta say I totally misread how Eisen told Stark how to win a battle and thought it would be a special move but in the end discussion in the vid I go back and watch it and understand what it actually means! Thanks for watching!
It should already be clear at this point, but it seems a lot of people missed it. There are 2 versions of Zoltraak. One is made to kill humans, including elves and dwarves (Dark version), and the other one made to kill demons (White version). This isn't really some kind of Big Reveal later on, but just take note that there are 2.
Nice to see a reactor picking up on the little details of the family crest /pendant. You have a good time watching this show. It makes a good time seeing that.
@@lindsayroutliffeI've watched a disturbingly large number of reactions of this episode, and at most half of the reactors mention the crest. You did well to notice it 😊
This show really shows how to incorporate flashbacks into a story. It really ties things together and they move the theme/progression along smoothly. The fast casting of Fern and Eisen teaching Stark that if you can get up, you haven't lost lol. Also yeah, as villains, I really liked Linie and Lugner. I think my fav part of them was Linie complaining that Lugner was just using defensive magic lol.
Some day Stark is going to be fully confident in his abilities as well as have enough fear to stay cautious enough to avoid stupid mistakes. Dude's going to be scary. In a good way.
Mhmm. Cannot wait for him to meet up with the demon who killed his village. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER MINOR SPOILER TBF that demon would likely be excited about it if he knew the showdown was impending. Eisen had met him in the past.
"I have dedicated my entire life to magic" "so has she" must be the coolest reaction I've seen for that exchange. Wonderful reaction as always. Parasocial friendship go brr. Are you on myanimelist or anilist btw?
@@PeakFictionWithAms myanimelist.net/profile/rootafill23 here's my myanimelist! I just updated it a bit, I guess I had worked on it a few years ago! I'll keep in mind that video/stream idea though, maybe one day I'll make a vid or stream going through all I've watched haha good idea!!
13:02 Lugnar (in Sukuna’s voice): “Try it. Your head will fly before you get the chance.” Fern: “I’m sorry, but you’re no Sukuna.” Moments, later: Lugnar: “Oh sh!t, I’m in the wrong anime!” 👻
This has my second favorite fight in the Anime, it's so well animated. All thoes lovely fireworks. My favorite is Fern vs SPOILER. They didn't have to make the fight scenes this good. They choose to do such tho, and it's one of the ways that the anime has improved on the original work. The fights in the manga are not as flashy. The animators take the time to show us beautiful visuals that sit between the pannels of the source material.
Linie - Line. She traces the lines of mana flowing through a person to copy their movements. Movements are also sometimes called lines, eg racing lines, lines of attack...
@@lindsayroutliffeunlike most of them this one requires some speculation. To my knowledge there isn't an official statement by the author on this yet.
Oh hell nah, Aura. You don't casually talk smack about Elven Grandma's dead boyfriend like that and expect to get off the hook easily 😤 Damn them demons talk too much. The animation of Linie changing her various weaponry was sick as hell. This animation studio goes hard on everything. Like when you called out the scene of Stark putting on his coat. Masterful stuff.
Linie is has a very cute design, fans speculate that she was the offspring of Lugner and Aura but obviously we can't know that for sure. There is a bunch of very silly and cute fanart about the three of them(sorry Draght you are forgotten) Worth noting that all of the white beams Fern, or anyone else, fires is "zoltrak". It's the most common offensive spell so basically everyone knows it. They just don't seem to say the name of the spell every time unless they are really putting their backs into it.
Fern wasn't a very emotive child, and her surrogate mother figure being Frieren it's not surprising she would be pretty straight faced most of the time.
Fern always with the dead-eyed stare. Lugner is definitely the strongest enemy she faced solo at this point (I think Qual was significantly more powerful despite being "obsolete", she could barely defend against his barrage). Still, no reaction, no cries of pain after being pinned to a wall, just complete concentration on the task. After she realized she had the speed advantage, I think she was reasonably confident in victory. Frieren's "demon-killing magic" was apparently enough to bridge the raw power gap that Lugner kept blabbing about in his inner monologue. Also, interesting that the audience only has his perspective in the fight as he gradually realizes that he blew his chance to kill her/survive just to showboat. But she is not actually a machine. Otherwise, she would've just killed him in the prev. episode instead of running away. She had both Lugner and Linie dead to rights with that snipe, didn't follow up. Also, kind of hilarious that Frieren raised Fern as a demon-slaying specialist unbeknownst to Fern herself. Kinda makes Frieren seem a bit devious/sneaky.
Frieren and Fern both have that dead eyed mode in combat. I find that fascinating, as I wonder at what kind of inner world that represents for the both of them. Frieren must have trained Fern in disciplines or mind magics similar to her own in order to help her process and analyze mana patterns, observe key details, suppress pain, and operate at higher efficiencies in battle. Not the easiest sort of thing to try to portray, but training and ongoing effort is important in this universe for human and demons magic.
@@jasonp.1195 Fern was also kind of just like that from childhood. Training with the autist elf only baked the dead eyes into their sockets. Also, it's implied that Heiter taught her the basics of mana suppression, and she just happened to be a prodigy at mana control. Like, the most talented in the world (of non-demons). Which is what Frieren's mage-assassin-demon slayer build revolves around. So, it's really more a string of mega millions odds lucky coincidences. In context of the fictional world - obv. it was written that way for a reason. But when you think about it from the perspective of one of the characters, it's crazy how the stars aligned there, from Heiter just happening to be passing by as she prepared to jump to his association with Frieren, the perfect master for her.
It really is a shame that Linie was a demon because her character would have been really interesting. A mage that can imitate the movements of warriors would have been super cool.
I know to you it felt like a very short time, a mere sweatshirt dawning, but to us that don't have elven senses of time granted by a lovely Frieren hairstyle, it was a week. 😂

When "Zoltraak" And "Fear brought me this far" hits in one episode is just blatantly awesome.
W
The choice of naming the fight track Zoltraak is pretty neat imo. Dance to Qual's tune, arranged by Frieren.

They are so consistently good that I wonder if the studio has developed a new animation technique for them.
