What makes you think Brock thinks he's the only person implementing a banjo into his work? I'm pretty sure he knows he's not the only one that uses a banjo, he probably just likes playing it so he does. Modest mouse is incredibly dynamic and one of the best bands alive. Isaac and Spencer are both incredible musicians and lyricist in my opinion.
I hope the album version is as good as this performance.... the other live versions are must heavier and faster, which is great, but there is something about this acoustic rendition which I find particularly amazing.
