Brunson is where he needs to be. He can’t shine in his prime playing with Luka. Same with Kyrie. Kyrie is more into a mentor now. He’s more than happy to let Luka cook but hes still one of the best offensive players with the most beautiful handles and finishing in the game.

He was shining with luka. Mavs fo botched it by low balling him. Everyone blames luka he wanted to come back they low balled him the year before he left
He did shine when he was playing luka. People act like luka was holding him back when in fact he had his breakout year with luka.
Right. Plus, the truth is if there was a player as good as Luka on the Knicks, Brunson wouldn't be doing what he's doing because there would be an even better option. This idea that Luka should have sacrificed shots for Brunson is ridiculous, they're nowhere near equals. The mavs need defense, a lot of rebounding, more bench scoring and so on. They don't need a lesser player taking shots from someone like Luka.

Brunson is a natural leader and needed his own team to shine like he has. I'm proud of the kid. We got him and luka in the same draft. Kyrie is still a better player in my eyesight on offense. Brunson is a better defensive player in my eyes and he takes charges.
I knew Brunson would be a star when he was on the mavs during that Utah series, his pacing, post game, strength and most importantly (that made me see it) his footwork, he has advanced level foot work that a lot of big time guys dont have. Same thing I saw with kobe, luka and the same thing I saw with Brunson.
