The Aloha shirt AKA the Hawaiian shirt first rose to popularity in the 1930’s when most american’s could only dream about taking a tropical vacation to the islands. Now in 2020 when most people can’t travel to take a vacation I think it’s a perfect opportunity to revisit the iconic shirt. I take some time to talk about the history of the shirt, I show off some of my favorite hawiian shirts in my collection and I also talk about what I think is the difference between Hawiian and Camp Collar shirts.

last year was wearing em with skinnies and boots now im wearing em with straight or wide leg trousers. gotta love the versatility
for sure I know the Hawaiian + skinny jeans and boots is a classic SLP kind of look but they can easily be paired with wider / more relaxed bottoms

yeah basically anywhere you can find a lot of vintage clothes you're going to come across a lot of Hawaiian shirts - here in the US theres an abundance and they alll end up at the thrift store eventually
@@BraveNewWear I live in Bangladesh. We too have an abundance of Hawaiian/Cuban collar style shirts that are shipped abroad. A lot of the time, there is a surplus that don't get exported and are sold by smaller local businesses quite affordably. They're mostly made out of viscose, rayon and the likes.

Silk and cotton only
silk is always a solid option I know a lot of synthetics are basically trying to emulate the feel of silk

So, a club collar is not what you're thinking it is. Search the term -- it's a collar with curves instead of points. You're thinking of "Cuban" or "Camp" collars. Your leopard print shirt actually just has a flimsy spread collar. A hawaiian shirt can have a camp collar or really any other kind of collar, I've seen them mostly defined by the floral patterns.

Oh, and Hawaiian shirts are NEVER made in a poly-blend. They are either cotton or rayon, or a mix between them. I prefer the pure rayon ones in herringbone weaving. Those are the best. And if it is really good, it is finished of with true coconut-shell buttons.

my opion on floral shirts is this, if it doesn't look good you're either too ugly or the design is too ugly, simple as that, any other way its a go to.

As for material... Polyester isn't the worst option, but it's not good. It's cheap and it's not breathable and it won't age super well. A better option would be Rayon -- personally, I'm all about Lyocell.
As for linen... Yes, it wrinkles, this is something you just need to accept. If you are ironing your linen, you don't want it, sell it to somebody who does want linen and get yourself some lightweight cotton or some shit.

Dude the classic Aloha shirt material is silk but rayon and cotton did become popular and then the dreaded polyester. All Aloha shirt aficionados know that the rule is no polyester. come on you should know better.
