Thats why it is better to live in small places but close by , in islam there is no concept of joint family system. When visiting parents take food with you . Do a potluck . Also, in this way there is privacy and respect for each other. Also, save money for retirement, dont distribute inheritance till both parents passes away because parents need money for caregiving. Dont spend too much money on inheritances. There is generational gap . Generation x is different from Y and z. Older generation was much more hard working then younger generation.
