Wanna learn how to asset rip characters, textures and audio from Vermintide 2, too? I wrote down my workflow in this Steam guide (also includes a link to the audio file rip from 2018):

If you think about it, it's a very touching melody.
Bardin is an outcast, even by the standards of his company. A dwarf who lost his family, honor, courage. He is absolutely abandoned and lost, because no one needs him, which is very scary for a person who grew up in a culture of brotherhood and unity.
And who would have thought that three people and one elf (!) would fill his life with meaning and laughter again.
This clumsy song is a hymn to a strange, bizarre friendship that connected the unconnected=3
agreed
Bardin best boi
i love this comment! mostly because it implies kerillian is not a person (she's not.)
We are reaching wholesome levels that shouldn't be possible
Oh yes thats the spark of light needed in end times of Warhammer. I love it.
Warhammer is a GrimDark setting.
Vermintide:
This is the kind of stuff that makes Grimdark work. It's not just constant doom and gloom 100% of the time leaving us no hope, thus, little care to see where it's all going. Balances the tone perfectly.
@@TemplarBlonic things like these remind us what the characters are fighting for
well if you consider that Bardin is Dwarf pariah who lost his son, was left by his wife and daughter. here he is singing a song with his adopted family that he met while fighting to protect a city from giant rat men.
that's grimdark
It reminds me of WFRP 1E, it was pretty tongue-in-cheek while still being pretty grim
Thing with grimdark settings is that it makes those little beacons of light shine all the brighter.
I like to think that Bardin was having a bad time and Kruber talked everyone into singing this with him to make him feel better. XD
Explains well why he's so into it! I like it
Good ol Azumgi
hoh thats adorable
That is my head cannon. It also warms my heart!
Kerillian DOES sound like she’s rolling her eyes as she’s singing.
I just love Saltzpyre's mumbling.
Except for the burying part xD
My friend is the living incarnation of a Saltzpyre fanboy and happens to have a very, VERY high pitched laugh. The first time we watched this my ears nearly exploded xD
Yeah seemed like he almost committed to singing words when several others were also going early on bit they immediately dropped off and left him hanging xD
LifeOfArtyom _where are we_ *BURIED-*
_smfkflsngmfmg_
I've heard mumbling is the new hot shit in the music business.
Their singin is perfectly half-assed. With exception of Saltzpyre, who is just mumbling, but Bardin balances it out with whole-assing.
Whole-assing? He's double assing
You know Saltzpyre... you could just not do it? lol
I love how markus tries his best, but isn't a singer lmao
Markus and Sienna are trying at least. Hardin has some great friends!
Kruber tried his best.
The elf likes it, she doesn't want to admit it but she does.
There are many things that that one likes that she would not admit to anyone, or herself.

Oh 100%
Isn't that her whole character?
Trying so hard to no t admit that she really likes the other three... and tolerates Salzpyre
@@Davesknd Can you really do anything more than tolerate Salzpire though?
I absolutely love how at the beginning Kerillian wants to yell at Bardin for singing out of sync, and his response is to sing louder to drown her voice out lmfao
Hhaha ijust heard it 😂😂Hahaha!!!
This should be the eventual "End Credits" soundtrack.
Imagine this. The Ubersreik 5's last stand, at the end of the world. Surrounded, all having accepted that this is the end, they break out in song. As the chaos corpses pile up, the voices are silenced, one by one.
@@hund7458 I would actually tear up. Not gonna lie.
@@hund7458 Just Saltzpyre mumbling the song alone in the middle of an army of Chaos Warriors and Rat Ogres and everything else when everyone else is dead
@@justinthawsetmyo4173 No, Markus should be the last standing. Just like with his old regiment.
@@hund7458 Yeah that's usually my head canon that if they all go one by one Markus would be the last. But if they sing this song, I want the guy that's mumbling the lyrics to be the last one left
Kruber's into it just enough where he's having fun, where Sienna is getting just involved enough because she knows that it's killing Saltzpyre inside and that's her enjoyment. Meanwhile, Kerillian is suffering incarnate, Lohner is humming in the background and Catrinne is praying to whatever god will listen for them to shut the hell up SO SHE CAN PAINT IN SOME PEACE AND QUIET.
Can confirm about Lohner, there is a voice line where he sings the song and then hates himself for it a second later - and I forgot to include it
Who's Catrinne?
@@discountplaguedoctor88 she is the painter who paints the pictures. She is yet to be introduced in Vermintide but she lives in Taal's keep with everyone else. Her room can be found behind Lohner's shelves if you jump up on them and crouch through, you'll find her sleeping quarters. She can be heard sometimes shouting at Lohner throughout the Keep.
@@sydanthay2172
And according to Kruber, she has a crush on Salty. Weird.
@@ES21007 lol i remember that one. Didnt know who she was then
Saltzpyre.
Loathes singing but wants to humor his dwarf ally.
actually i'm convinced he's just secretly a goofball like the others and trying very hard to hide it
@@ichisichify
A Quiet Drink basically confirms.
@@ichisichify He is. He's so loveably awkward. I don't know how Vermintide managed to make a Witch Hunter like that, but they did.
He tries very hard to project authority and staying aloof.
If you get lost or are the last one standing he will say something like: "Sigmar, lead me to my.... comrades." The way he says it shows he is so very close to call them his friends.
"Kruber, should I die, I want you to take my sword of office-
-so they know that I liked you"
Poor dude doesn't know how to be normal but he tries to express his love💖💖
I love that awkward pause at 0:33, it’s like they’re all looking at Saltzspyre like “well, it’s your turn.”
Bardin starting him off lol

Kerillian's exasperation of getting into, or it getting it stuck in her head is beautiful. "Ugh ya got me doin' it naooou..!"
+1 :D
Kerillian is so damn relatable here. I mean, we all know these moments when there's a song or someone is singing and you suddenly realize that you are for some reason singing along to a song you don't even like.
YER A BLOODY PARASITE GOREKSSON!
kerillian always struck me as really wanting to impress her team, but not wanting to SEEM like shes trying. kinda tsundere. its kinda cute.
When Saltzpyre said "Hmmng hmmng hmm hmm hmmnng" I really felt that
These 5 just ooze sympathy charm and charisma... its so uncanny I am not used to get something like this in 2021. God I want a series about them already.
I know, right? I love em to death, without the writing Vermintide 2 would have little staying power, it makes up for a big part of the charm
Man I’d pay good money for either a book series or…
A show
Or just more VT in general lol
I love this group so much
All good guys must get along and if a hero disagrees too strongly with another hero it means they will become a villain later or at least be made into a total fool. This is modern media in a nutshell, and it is nice to find exceptions.
@@girlbuu9403 yeah they hate each other
I get the mental image of the Five singing this in the keep, with Bardin standing on a crate in front of them doing little finger conducting and pointing at whoever's turn it is to sing.
The lines sometimes clip through during gameplay. It's funny.
I get the feeling that Saltz secretly wants to sing but is holding it back because of his Templar nature.
That, or he doesn't want the others to know that he is actually capable of having fun.
Well, there is at least one line of monologue, in which he worries about the others doubting him.
Saltz thinking the entire time: Must...keep up...appearances...
Suddenly sings out loud: "Over the mountains" (and silently curses himself)
@@corvusalbus7276 Under the steel determination of a Templar... there is still that young silversmith. I would love a character, maybe an Ulrican warrior that he grew up with, a childhood friend that recognizes him and, without knowing what happened to his old buddy, shouts like a barbarian and just fucking bear hugs Saltz. A remnant of the man's past before the burden of Sigmar was placed on him and the others get to see Saltz like he was before. He becomes himself for a moment, no worried about Chaos, not concerned about Skaven, just... happy to see an old friend once more.
@@JessZomb A young smith, who just wanted to drive a steam tank. Seeing him encounter a childhood friend would be great, so much potential for various character interactions. I can totally see that burly warrior give Saltz a crushing hug, commenting on how skinny he still is, while the others just stare, wondering who the hell that guy is.
Presumably Saltz would try to act cold and professional (despite secretly being happy to see a familiar face in these dark times), much to his old friend’s dismay. And the rest of the four would probably love to hear some old stories from their shared past, preferably over a drink or two. Saltz joins mostly to stop his old friends from spilling too much, but gets drunk himself, and after playing “A Quiet Drink”, we know he gets a bit emotional and opens up a little when he is…and yep, there is the old Victor his friend remembers.
…and I have the sudden urge to write a short story again.
More of the second one
If you do, drop a link I'd love to read it
0:24 Bardin just shouting over the Elf is the most Dwarf thing xD
They’ve all found a new family, with each other, they may bicker a lot but I don’t think any of them really hate each other anymore.

They are the most adorable family.
I hope the writers and voice actors know how much their work means to me and many others. This game is, in my opinion, seriously one of the very best at conveying personality and charm through banter and simple dialogue. I care more about these characters than characters in most story driven RPGs, and I like RPGs.
i agree man, the synergy really is special.
I couldn't write it better myself! I love them all, every one of them! :D The game wouldn't be never the same without them. It would be just another game in the row. They are what makes the game really shine among the others :)
@@Setnja92 Heck yeah. :D
Horde slaying family number 1.
What is it with 4 player co op games and charming characters?
@@crispychips7161 Well, since it’s a cooperative game, the characters are almost always present with each other and engaging in banter or discussion. Just by virtue of that, You’ll likely grow a semblence of understanding on the connections of the people; even if it’s kruber calling saltz a peasent.
Plus, The dialouge is surprisngly very humanizing, and with it coming and places you never really expect. All of the crew struggles with their personal struggles, desires and the gradual yet horrifying realization on the fact that the world as they know it, is dying. To see their darkest fears occasionally bleed out in dialouge is something I really love.
It’s especially notable in the Drachenfells whispers and the DLC career banters. From kerillian delightfully mocking Kruber’s Bretonnian Accent, To Bardin’s secrets of a neglected kin being revealed to Kerillian. From the Five’s concern over saltz’s decision on fowarding a pilgrimage to the Chaos Wastes, to Kerillian’s inner crisis as the gods she worshipped fall to decay.
It’s funny in a sense. I’ve had authority figures and guardians, who I were expected to bond and connect with, were more robotic and bland than fantasy characters in a game that about bashing rats and “HOGGERS BRIDGE”. Goes to tell you how deep these charatcers are, or how bland the world is.
