  • Left with a country savaged by French imperialism and battling with insecurity, Captain Ibrahim Traore, the president of Burkina Faso has been seeking ways to rebuild since he came into power in 2022. It certainly can't be easy to manage a country that despite its natural resources is still one of the poorest in the continent and not only that, but the country is also faced with a serious security crisis that has given it the tag “one of the dangerous countries to visit in the world” in Western Media. However, Captain Traore has proven that he is committed to the task of ridding the country of insecurity, fostering development, and building a country with the vision of Thomas Sankara in mind. In dealing with the insecurity in the country, Captain Traore has sought to build relations with countries that he believes have the capacity to help his country including Russia, Iran, and North Korea. However, as a true Pan-Africanist, Captain Traore has also sought collaborations with other African countries including Mali and Niger which has resulted in the formation of a charter called the Alliance of the Sahel State. And from recent news, it is believed that this alliance will evolve into a confederation which is a plus for African unity.
Mali and Niger, however, are not the only African countries with which President Traore has sought collaboration with. Recently, Captain Traore set the political space abuzz when he sent high-ranking military delegates from Burkina Faso to Rwanda for a meeting with the Rwandan security forces. It does make sense for Burkina Faso to partner with Mali and Niger because they have a lot in common BUT, the big question is, was the move by Ibrahim Traore to partner with Rwanda a good one? Of all the African countries aside from Mali and Niger, why did Captain Traore choose Rwanda? Stay with us as we delve into this video.
