Dad’s anger and actions may seem reasonable. But dad was no saint in either. The abuse went on for a long time, dad did nothing to get daughter away to safe place knowing moms addiction and unsafe environment daughter was living in. They were still married until last year. He was caught up with his own demons and legal issues.

    • @alexkitner5356
      @alexkitner5356 7 місяців тому +11

The dad doesn't appear to be a Saint, he actually may have been an RSO himself and in jail thru some of this if I'm reading the story right. Then again it also says he tried and that CPS knew this was happening or at least likely to be happening and told the mom that she'd face this kind of penalty- but they didn't remove the child. He's even cooperating in another unrelated case according to the article as part of his plea deal. Definitely not the best character references but even if I despise the rest, if the system failed to do the appropriate thing after being given ample opportunity and even acknowledged what was happening on some level then at what point is it not justified or even morally just that he ended it once and for all? Guy may not deserve a parade but there is plenty to differentiate him from a petty vigilante.

@@Creative-Chaos Registered S.. Offender. Not sure if UA-cam is gonna filter the second word. The same status as the 'victims' of his actions... so bad guy but CPS literally knew she was letting this guy and the other that was lucky he wasn't home at the time dad came calling, pay her to watch her kids. They knew it was happening, knew she was getting paid for it, must have had some understanding that she was abusing hard drugs, even told mommy there that if she continued she'd face this sentence. If they're telling someone that what they're doing is worthy of 40 years in prison but just saying "don't do it anymore" that's a pretty weak response. Frankly criminal in my opinion, but they didn't remove a 6yo girl that they had reason to believe was basically being prostituted. Mommy didn't just pick a bad babysitter, she actively sold her daughter to these predators and CPS chose to do nothing. If dad had finished up with her case worker I'm not sure I'd feel that bad about it- so I certainly won't lose sleep over what dad did to that other garbage.

Saying that to say this..hard drugs change the makeup of people especially morphine, heroin, benzos. Those drugs take every ounce of good away from the user and you do whatever to get the next fix, because your physically and mentally the drugs slave. The better the drug the quicker and harder the sickness hits you. It's still not an excuse not even close. It's just an explanation why she did what she did.

His extensive violent criminal history played a part in the life sentence as well, this wasn't an isolated violent incident in his record.

It's not an excuse or absolution or minimizing the harm caused, it's the way it is.

I hope she understands the gravity of what she did to her child and that pain eats and devours her. I would never be able to forgive this. I pray her child find peace and healing. Now, the only parent who could have protected her isn't able to do anything. Now, she's truly alone in the world. Again, I understand why he reacted the way he did. Almost to the end now, was caught off guard by the weight of this case. No addiction is enough to justify what this person did, even to an enemy, let alone your own vulnerable child. Don't know if there's any coming back from the nightmares she helped become reality. She may be beyond redemption. And I say that as a devout proponent of the idea of second chances in life.

Yes drugs and alcohol allows us to suspend our humanity and do bad things. But that is no excuse. When a person chooses to indulge they are choosing the possible consequences. This lady loved her drugs more than her kids. And yes I’ve known people who got clean and sober and spent the rest of theirs lives giving back. But usually they had consequences of their behavior, and were truly sorry for their past behavior.

Having been an addict, I still knew right from wrong. I didn't steal from people, I didn't exploit people. You're absolutely right, it's not an excuse. While an addiction can make you desperate, it doesn't make you do things. You have to consciously make the decision to do something like this, knowing that it is wrong. And ESPECIALLY for what she did to her kids, she knew it was wrong and she did it anyway. I have zero sympathy for this woman.

It really annoys me when they push addiction as a mitigating factor in these cases. There are many addicts that would never let something like that happen and would probably give up their own life to prevent it. It is a slap in the face to all addicts to try and paint it as if its just what addicts do now and then. The case isnt about an evil person it is about an evil person on drugs.

I was an addict for over 15 years and I now work in rehabilitation- and this lawyer is so full of shit it's unreal. The truth is that each addict has their own rock bottom before they ever start using- that's the point where they break and say, "No more" and get help- for good ppl that bottom is things like stealing from a friend or relative, getting arrested, losing their job, etc.- for bad ppl that rock bottom can be murder, their children being abused, etc. and for really bad ppl- there is no depth they won't sink to in order to keep using. If this lady was letting her children be abused to get drugs- and she wasn't stopping, that wasn't bottom for her- then she had problems before she ever started using. And where is the sick low life scum that actually did this to the little girl? I pray they got them as well. Damn it drugs are sick man- I get so angry when I see this kind of stuff.

I got addicted after major surgery and having to take painkillers to function. It wasn't exactly my choice, 6 months of taking heavy meds daily will get a person hooked. Though i did choose to continue after the perscriptions stopped, to numb the pain.
Been clean for about 10 years now, but i can say the chemicals change the way your mind works. Eventually checked myself into an outpatient rehab.
If they get addicted from street drugs, sure, i agree with you. But there are many cases where a doctor gets people addicted. Thankfully, the pharmaceutical business is finally changing. Was it Perdue that got fined for knowingly pushing oxy? Unfortunately i wasnt part of the class action lawsuit.
This "mother" is a horrible monster no matter what, though. Addiction doesn't make you sell children.

No one can convince me that "it was the drugs, she's not a bad person." As someone who has struggled with addiction, i know that drugs can make you do things you wouldn't otherwise do. However, it is a CHOICE to do something as horrific as this woman did. There are many addicts in the world with children, but very few do anything remotely close to what she did. Which tells me there's much more to this than the simple cause and effect defense her attorney claimed.

  • @bluedragonfly8139

It always gives me the ick when someone who allowed their child to be abused tries to weasel out of taking responsibility for the fact that they didn't protect their child or actively promoted the abuse. It doubles the ick factor when a defense attorney blames the *addiction* as if it's a separate entity that should be on trial and not the person. Dude, stop. Your client fucked up and doesn't get to blame her addiction for shit she did. Her addiction didn't force her to trade her daughter for drugs, she traded her daughter for drugs to *feed* her addiction.

Never ever in my addiction did the thought arise in my mind to allow my children to be utilized as my personal property for s*xual deviants! I would rather die first! I was ab*sed as a child due to my mother’s addiction, and although the cycle continued with the substance abuse, the cycle broke when it came to how my children were treated and protected! My dad and step mom were called by me to take care of my boys while I sought treatment! There is NO excuse for any parent allowing harm of any kind to come to our babies, ever!!!

  • @cindihowell6672

I am ashamed to say that my daughter was an addict and alcoholic at one time. I understand that AA would say she still is. Nevertheless, she has "been clean" for 10 years now. During her addiction her children were never abused. Their home life wasn't great due to the fighting between her and her husband over the addiction, but they were never abused. He finally gave her an ultimatum to stop or lose the children, which was the catalyst to overcoming her addictions. I don't accept this woman's excuse of addiction to drugs. I am sorry she didn't have someone who loved her and those children enough to do what my son-in-law did, but I don't believe a loving mother would have knowingly allowed anyone to hurt her children, much less basically sell them. She is an abuser. None of this would have happened without her basically selling her. She could have gone to a shelter, a hospital, or the police for help.
