I can't make it to work properly using Fabfilter Pro-G in Cubase. 😮💨 First, I'm not sure what is the reduction button that make the magic happens in Pro-G. Second, even after some tries that I get a "chopped" pad, I get a noisy/harsh signal, unusable for music. (attack/release 5ms, hold=0 etc.) Third, I think I setted-up sidechaining etc.correctly but when I stop the guitar, pad (from a D50 vst) also stops. Any help/tips. I like the "trick" and I want to use it!
Ratio to max (100:1) then Pro-G works like a gate (hover over knobs to see pop-up explanation) - then you can continue by setting range to max (100db) and play around with threshold (and then turn down range if you like). In Ableton if i want just the chopped pad, not the guitar: I just deactivate the track activator button of the guitar track, so the sidechain signal (EXT sidechain in expert mode in Pro-G) still gets sent to Gate but the audio itself is not sent to main bus.
Hey i have been producing and learning a lot from your channel. I had aquestion, is your room fully sound proofed or only acoustic panels? Im planning to soundproof my room on a budget but i have a big wall wardrobe which is fixed and cannot be moved on one side, what should i go for? Also someone suggested sonaroworks to me does it work?
It’s only acoustic panels. I don’t own my place and there are 2 doors I would have to replace to soundproof it. I use Sonarworks software to tune my monitors to the room and it works really well

How it that a problem? These layers are specifically meant for the guitar part, that's the point of the noise gate technique being used here.

Same here - I am trying to get this working with Pro-G in Ableton but it is impossible. Stock Gate plugin in Ableton is not great either.
