- The name Erika derive from Naumann's only granddaughter Hermine Marie Erika Naumann. Naumann wanted to give the name of his granddaughter to a typewriter. It's a foldable typewriter, once you see it you wouldn't say it's a typewriter. It's a model of 1911. Still working after more than 110 years. Many features relly different from current typewriters!
this looks and works so much like my Corona 3 I have to wonder if someone "borrowed" someone else's design. Who did that is, of course, speculative.
Could they got inspired one form another, I think it was common
I'd make the gues that this machine is a model 3 (early model 3). The serial number looks like 5 digits to me. You will find another serieal number in the case on the right, looking from fron to the keys, like, say, behind the "m key, looking from front.
Also: againt an indicator that it is not a model 1 is that there are not as much screws on the side casing. Also the bars of the folding mechanism used to have holes in the early years. Solid folding bars indicates more or less toward early model 3 (for late model 3 the logo did change).
I might be wrong, anyway I am pretty sure that is not an early model 1.
Grazie per il buoni videos da lei.
Thanks for the information, you are an expert.
I will check soon.
You are right, behind the m key there is a serial number, it's 13051

Hello,
i have an Erika 1 too. Mine came with a blue ribbon and i would like to change it.
But i find it quite hard to find the right size of ribbon.
Where did you get the red and black ribbon for your Erika Modell 1?
Kind regards, Volker
Hello, My Erika had already the ribbon, I didn't changed it, I think.
But I will check in the weekend and I will tell you something.
Good morning Vvolker, I checked and the ribbon on my Erika is a standard ribbon, may be has been changed also the ribbon reel support.
