- Loy Krathong is one of the most beautiful and significant festivals in Thailand. Celebrated on the full moon of the 12th lunar month (usually in November), it involves floating small, decorated baskets or “krathongs” on rivers, canals, or ponds. These krathongs are often made from banana leaves and decorated with flowers, candles, and incense sticks.
The festival is a way to pay respect to the water goddess, Phra Mae Khongkha, and to symbolically let go of grudges, anger, and bad luck. It’s a time for gratitude, renewal, and making wishes for the future.
