    Excellent overview on an inground sprinkler system, and the considered comments here add good supplementary info as well.

    I appreciate your video also I like to see using the hose faucet as a water supply vs the main line pressure difference 👍. I enjoyed watching your video thanks 🙏

      You wont get near the volume of water out of faucet. Wont have proper backflow device either

    Make sure when you put glue on your PVC that you twist the pipe or the fitting a 1/4 of a turn to smooth out the glue so there are no air bubbles or pockets that can cause leaks
    Make sure to never install pop up sprays heads with fixed nozzles and rotory head together on the same zone.

    Thanks for a great video I do not have a backflow system for my sprinklers, so I guess something else to do.

    I'm putting in a fence that will go through an existing zone so I'd like to cap it rather than make cuts and repairs around where the fence posts will be and just trench and lay a new line further in from the property line. Does each zone run separately from the valve box or can one valve run multiple zones? I'm wanting to just cut through the existing zone pipe, set the posts, and trench the new line at a later date. What i don't want to do is cut out the line and then screw up several other zones if they're connected.

    Twist pipe/fitting 90 degrees. Dont cram 3 valves together like that. One little leak in there and you might have to cut out all 3 valves to repair it. More hydraulically sound to have valves near middle of zone anyhow. And rainbird is a great product. EXCEPT FOR THE CONTROLLER THEY SELL AT HOME DEPOT. AAAAAUUUUUGH !. You have to set a seperate start time for every stinking zone

    I have the main waterline on the bottom of the hill which shoots up the hill, and the anti siphons at the top. Is that the correct setup? Or does something need to be placed inline at the bottom of the hill? In other words when the anti siphon at the top is off do I need to worry about the pressure in the line going down the hill or does it just remain pressurized and no need to worry about back flow

    • @adamanderson7761
      @adamanderson7761 Рік тому

      I think the most important part is that your anti-siphons are at least 6 inches above your highest sprinkler head. I think the concern is more about where your sprinkler heads are relative to your anti-siphons, than where the main line is relative to them.

    How do you plant a tree without damaging your pipes? I marked off a square area where I want to plant my tree and use stakes to mark where a head is. I don't know how much space is between the pipes.

    • @lissam8988

      I bought a 2007 home and no one seems to know how the sprinkler system was laid out the guy that I was hired to fix a few things with it and replace the controller told me that they can put them in any way they wanted when they built the home.
      The irrigation guy that I hired it's not his fault it's the fault of the homebuilder not giving a blueprint of how they are laid out.🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ so it's very difficult to figure out where I can plant some trees so I guess I will end up digging and if I hit a sprinkler system oh well I guess I'll be fixing it.
      I did get someone to serve a part of the area because of fixing a fence so we would not accidentally hit a pipe of some sort but that part of the yard is not going to be affected by a tree

    • @bjmgraphics617
      @bjmgraphics617 8 місяців тому

      The pipes should be laid in a grid with parallel pattern. The yard has a main distributor as a branch and it's in a hole in the ground with a plastic cap. The grass might covering it. so you might have to use a weed trimmer to cut back some grass. I susjust you were a bathing suit and prepare to get wet. As the sprinklers pop up, place a yard steak or flag marker next to the head. You should get 5-8 feet of dead space in between each head as the pipes are parallel .@@lissam8988

    Hi. I had a working system years ago. Got the house stucco and brain was pulled. How do I test the system with or without the brain and how do you reconnect the brain to the zone controls?

    • @MVPxKidD3MoN
      @MVPxKidD3MoN 3 роки тому +1

      The timer, "brain" to your sprinkler system has all the wiring to your irrigation valves, that being said if you know where your valves are, you can simply buy irrigation wire, and wire it up to your timer "brain".

    Do I need an anti siphon valve for each zone? Or just one for the entire system? Lowe’s told me I need just one, and then a solenoid for each zone but Tampa codes require back flow prevention.

    • @mikecurliss848
      @mikecurliss848 3 роки тому

      There are five types of backflow prevention. Your anti siphon valve (atmospheric breaker) really isn't the way to go. Theres not supposed to be back pressure on it . In other words no valves downstream. And has to be 12 inches above highest head. And more...Use reduced pressure device, or a reduced press principle device. Or, in tx still allowed to use the in ground double check backflow preventer. Dont buy the cheezy atmospheric breakers. The plunger sticks to the top and they then dont prevent backflow.

    • @mikecurliss848
      @mikecurliss848 3 роки тому

      Air gap is another form of backflow prevention. You wont be using that

    I'm unable to dig any kind of trench to lay PVC due to hoa restrictions, and am relatively unwilling to mess with timers - all I really need is for the sprinklers to turn on when I turn on the water.
    Any suggestions?

    @1:06 how does it talk to the valves? Is there wiring from the control to the valves?

  • @sj7601
    @sj7601 3 роки тому

    I'm assuming so, but does the company installing a irrigation system call to get utility lines marked? I wasn't sure how far down the water lines have to get burried.

    • @rastapastrychief
      @rastapastrychief 3 роки тому +1

      Yes, the contractor should always call the utility companies to mark their utilities, and not sure what it’s called near you, but we have a single phone number to call that will notify most local utilities, known as DIGTESS here in Texas, and most irrigation systems here are installed 6-12” deep, & deeper in northern climates
