In this video we'll take a quick look at the DEF Metering unit found on EPA10 Detroit Diesel powered vehicles. (These would include the DD13, DD15 and DD16.) The components that make up the unit and it's basic function. - Авто та транспорт
Very helpful videos , really detailed and explanatory. Definitely helps me to understand what is going on with my trucks and helps me to get right to what needs to be fixed without hesitation.
Thank you sir, once again. These videos are very educational and informative of the subject. Good work.
Awesome video.
Awesome video thanks
Definitely gonna subscribe to your channel
Great video
What if the def is not going to the def metering unit. There is air coming out. Does the clogged Dozer prevent def coming over from the pump.
Very cool that the individual components are serviceable and replaceable. Who is a good resource for these parts?
Where do we find the parts
??????
Any Detroit Diesel/Freightliner/WesternStar dealer.
I do a search and can't find any parts. I snapped the air inlet fitting putting it back together and I cant find it anywhere
What is a epa 10 engine this is the first time I heard this
Have you ever seen the def inlet screen get clogged? I am getting a code that says def tank temperature, google says to clean the metering unit inlet screen.
It's pretty rare to see the Def inlet screen in the metering unit clog. The Def is filtered in the pump so contaminants don't often make it through. It depends what type of vehicle you have but there's typically a temperature sensor built into the tank Header. I'd say either it or its wiring could be your issue.
Thank you for all the information.
Hi hope you can help me with this problem my def container has been full for the pass 4000 miles i havent refill the def and Still full its showing me a codes eec 61 5246
.3251 pdf pressure the ampty reservoir light is blinking as a ampty def container but like i say Still full since the last time 4000 miles ago
which engines is this system is on? DD13 or earlier DD's? Thanks.
Detroit used these metering units on all EPA10 DD series engines. The 13, 15 and 16 liter.
@@TheDieseler Ok. Thanks for your replay man. Nice video. Do you work for the company or run ypur own shop?
My 2013 spend too much def...what can be??
I have a 4335 code vs 4334 and a plain engine light vs a check engine light been on for approx 700 miles w/o derate. I took the air supply elbow off the switching valve =no oil 2013 dd15 cascadia I'm stumped
4335 is a Def air pressure code but it's also incomplete. You need the FMI to fully understand what it's trying to tell you.
TheDieseler EEC 061 SPN004335
DEF AIR PRESS. 07
IS EXACTLY WHAT IM LOOKING AT What is FMI?
FMI is the failure mode indicator. If it's 7 then it's reading low def air pressure. Pressure is read from the Def air pressure sensor in the metering unit. Check out my latest video to become more familiar with it. You may have a restriction between the pressure limiting unit and pressure sensor in the metering valve. You may find oil in the inlet of the metering unit or the pressure limiting unit could actually be putting out low air pressure.
TheDieseler Thanx man I hope it will get me another 150 miles to the house and I'll look at it some more
