Thanks for letting me view excellent nev
I live in Central Alabama, I love all of your videos. I plant everything in the ground, in winter they die down and come up in spring. I have red blooming cannas. Also have white, purple and coral Calla Lillies!!!! I actually have the cannas in full sun, actually doing quite well. My Calla Lillies are in semi-shade. My Daughters bought my Calla Lillies for me when they were 9 & 6yrs old!! Now my Daughters are 28 & 25!!!! Over the years my 3 small plants have multiplied. They are so beautiful!! I do not have Banana Trees but my Parents do. The Bananna Trees have been in their yard for over 20yrs. When winter comes they die down and come right back up in the spring. They are over 16/18’ y’all!!! They are beautiful!!!!!
You are so blessed. They are your family's legacy ❤
Thank you ....very informative and encouraging.
Good vid 👍 !
My mom gave one bulb from her cannas and I planted it in a sunny spot in my yard. Within one year I had about 15 canna plants. I loved the beautiful foliage, but just thing spring I noticed that something was eating them... those darn slugs and 🐌! So I pulled them all out and replanted my bulbs in pots with new soil. I now have them in my back porch and they are growing so well. I learned that you have to have the snail bait because those suckers are quick to eat up the whole plant.
Ana Hernandez Arrgh! Slugs! Yes they can devour alot in one night. Glad to hear of your success! :)
Debbie it was an honor to meet you and visit your beautiful Sunnycrest Nursery today! We are going to give you a big shout out on our radio show this Sunday. It was such a pleasure to stroll through your beautiful Zen Zone
Just found your video on these beautiful tropicals. I live in Seattle and was hoping to bring in more of this look to my garden. Thanks for all of the amazing information you share with us!
We have to grow them as a bedding plant where I live so I have to dig them up in autumn and store them in the garage. They are beautiful but if we have a wet summer can look a bit ragged. I live in northern UK 🇬🇧
I bought 2 plants at Home Depot yesterday and planted them in my front yard today. I'm so excited the red color is an eye catcher!
This is just what I needed cause I'm putting Cannas and Bananas in my garden in zone 5a!
I live in South Texas and these plants grow year round.
Living up north when caring for Cannas, you can plant them but once you have the first frost, or you can cut them back to 1 inch above ground, you will have to dig them up and store them for the winter in a cool, dry space, such as the basement or garage. The tumors if frozen will turn to mush and you will lose them.
I'm in Pasadena, California just planing a garden .I like the dark Bananas plant. BUT never thought about the sunlight burning it. Now I have to rethink my whole garden? Thanks I think I'll go walk around and see what's happening out here. ???
I’ve never seen Coleus that big...(plant behind you). I plant then every spring in my north-facing, shady front garden and they really thrive, but have NEVER gotten that big...I’m in zone 7b, eastern NC...love your videos...
I love cannas. Never thought about calls lilies or banana plants.
This is the first year I have started bulbs, after about a foot high, then put them directly into my pond. They have tripled in size and blooming their hearts out.
loved the plants...I am just starting my cannas ,,,,,,cala lilies are beautiful too!
GT information GT plants GT gardener thanks for your time 🌹🌹🌹🌹👍👍👍
Lovely flowers and decorative plants
Kanna lily
Very nice
I have them in zone 6, leave them in the ground and they come back every spring. They are next to my house.
Very nicely done. Marie
I planted all my Cannas in the garden so i guess ill be digging them up in the winter....Shattered, But they are very nice plants.
You can separate the bulbs to produce more plants for next season so that can be a benefit
We have a pizza restaurant here in zone 6B they have a row growing outside next to the building that comes back every year This year they gave me some seeds so I'm hoping to get these in the ground this coming Spring BUT after listening to you I might put them in a pot. or both. Thanks for sharing
I planted some a few months ago straight into the ground. They are 6 feet tall now. I have a recent video of my plants.
I was given a canna Lily And I planted it in a beautiful sunny shady area and it was dead within the week. I live in Florida and I did not realize that all the rain that we get just rotted my plant. dug it up but it was too late. This was a great video by the way great idea to bring them in for the winter but I won’t have that problem my zone is 9a
doowopshopgal what kind of drainage was it in? Cannas like a lot of water, esp in hot climates. I grew up in NW Florida and we had cannas actually growing at the end of a drain line, so not only got rain, but also household runoff. But, they were not constantly standing in water.
gayla gavin I was told she got it from Publix grocery store so I’m thinking it was a house plant. It was about 12”. tall. Stupid me 😢
gayla gavin I had it in the ground.
Try louisiana iris, they love water
Thank you Debbie for the info.! It was very helpful! I am interested in knowing the name of the banana plant that was behind you. I would love to add that one to my garden! THANKS!!!
Lovely videos , I love you intro animation, how did you do it? I love Canna lilies
Lots of great information on your videos. I just wish we had a good nursery around here where I live. I know a lot about flowers and shrubs but I don't like ordering from magazines because I'm wasting my money most of the time. 💗
i used cana to ring a stump in the front yard 3 years ago... the canna somehow sent roots through the stump below the soil and the stump is gone.. and they are the biggest canna i have ever seen.. im 6'3 and can touch the cieling flat footed but cant reach the upper leaves and forget about the flowers.. they must be 10'... i keep yanking them up but cant get ahead.. be sure you like theses plants,, they are tough to control.. at least in NC
Thanks for the great video iam in Abbotsford Bc canada and grow canas in containers when is the best time to report them as we just take them in the garage during the winter so can I just bring them outdoors and will they come up in there container there in now or do I need transplant them
Beautiful plants Thank u. can u tell me what kind of plants is that one hanging? Thank u
Why my "bengali tiger" canna lily produced small sized flowers? And only produced 3 flowers (!!) : /
It may need to be divided or fertilized.
You make garding fun
Hi Debbie, I have a Canna that has great foliage but I don't see any shoots coming out . That happened last year too, what do I need to do to have them flower?
Great video. Pity you resemble Liz Warren but I'm overlooking that as best I can. Keep it up
What time of year can we buy banana tree plants n where
Here in NC I have canna"s that just takes over my garden. I take out a lot and give away and they keep coming back. I like them but they are hard to control.
Epic they might survive in mine! Maybe 😁
Wonderful presentation! I have many of them in the ground and am under the snowline in the South of Australia near Melbourne. Do I have to cut these down in our winter + now? The do like it more warm than just now but can get up to 40o in feb.
Mine die immediately when it freezes. Cut them to the ground. They will be back, trust me.
It got to cold in (50s in the summer nights)Seattle for me to grow.
My canna Lily’s are in pots. What fertiliser should I use to feed them with?
Very helpful-thank you :)
They do their worse here in Phoenix during summer 😞
I've been trying to find information on theses for this zone 9b.
I planted mine last fall, they were ok all winter and beginning of spring. Started dying off by end of May beginning of June. They are crunchy from the 110+ weather and seem to be dying. What do I do, continue watering them? I want them to come back. Are they going dormant in summer because of thia heat?
Cannas like lots of water and they are tubers so they should come back. In your hot climate make sure they get afternoon shade. Cut off the crunchy leaves and they should make new ones. :)
@@GardenStylenw thank you! Yes, they get morning sun and have a tree above them that provides filtered sun.
I just brought a canna lily 2 weeks ago, is it possible to have them as a house plant? I have them under a grow light
Yes! As long as they get enough light. :)
Beautiful canna lilies. Do you ship
I live in Indonesia I would like to know how you can make dwarf canna. Is there any blue canna. Thanks
Mine fell over during a harsh wind. I didn't know I was supposed to tie each one down for strength.
What about the kind the dirt like? Is my first time to have both I have the banana plant on the ground and the another in a pot.
Were in uk, is it better to plant in tubs or in ground & dig up before our winter?
You said you were in the mid West / zone 8... I'm in Alabama zone 8a. What state/area are you in? The Canna's here over winter in the ground here with no problem. Banana also seem to do well also, they both die back to the ground, but come back in the spring. Just wondering how cold it gets in your zone 8.
Do you have any Canna Pretoria seeds I could buy from you? I've been unable to find a good source. thank you!!
Do you ship?? I want to place an order
Also are snails & slugs attracted to Cannas?
Patricia Holt yes
