Just finished Warsaw 1944. As a lifelong historian of WW2 this book is one of the most moving I have read. The story, and the author's delivery, are utterly incredible. Thank you for this magnificent work.

My parents came out WWll in their pre-teens. They always readily answered/answers their children's questions about the war. They have a lot of books on just about anything related to the war and especially the hardships of Jews (we are plain Christian Scandinavians). I have seen many an unpleasant but interesting documentary about exterminations camps, nazi hunters, the Nurnberg Trials, etc. all through my life, in fact
I exposed my children to all of it, too. I think we need to.
The movie "Uprising" made a deep and lasting impression on me. I cannot recommend enough.

Congratulations on this great interview! It is one of the best English language Poland history Internet talks I have ever seen.
The sad thing is only 3000 viewers so far. It shows how little English speakers are interested in the subject.

As the child of the post WWII Polish diaspora I’m glad these stories are finally being told. Even in the 70s and 80s in Canada, at university, it was difficult to access such information. And I tried. Tragically this kind of story is repeated constantly, throughout the world. When different societal groups, such are cultures, are involved sometimes the stories reach the media and we are horrified by the display of racism. But the lack of human rights or vilification of “the other” are constantly applied to different social classes, religions, genders, sexual preference, even football teams, etc. One of the underlying reasons is understood as the biological urge towards tribalism. A characteristic of every human brain. We evolved to be part of a tribe, to support fellow members but unfortunately to also vilify “the other.” If humanity has a chance, we must first recognize this human characteristic then implement systems to guard against it. To treat the vulnerable as fellow human beings. The Doomsday Clock is just 100 seconds away from midnight, we don’t have much time. ua-cam.com/video/lrzXE5XttOE/v-deo.html

The book is fantastic. Sadly humanity seems to be itching for another civilization threatening bloodbath. Perhaps because modern life is so unsatisfying in many ways and they think a bloodletting will change this!!

Very interesting video. Dr. Alexandra Richie has huge knowledge about Polish Warsaw Uprising'44, as a Pole (Polish?) I'm especially grateful for that English-language book on this topic, cause Poles write books and not scientific papers mostly in Polish, so many aspects of Poland, politics, history, contribuition to science & technology etc. are either completely not known for to the wider audience (readers) in western Europe (basically in the USA), or misunderstood or rather mostly not known generally. Thank you for uploading this video, ofc Like&Sub :)
BTW here is proof, the 1st good movie on the Uprising'44 topic is here (but only in Polish), may be it's also available on other platforms with Eng subtitles vod.tvp.pl/video/miasto-44,miasto-44,24654080 .

Ah well yes Nazis not Germans, very difficult for Slavs to stand up for Jews. The Jews were first on the list, perhaps the Slavs might have had an inkling of what Nazis had in store for them after the Nazis had finished with Polish Israel
