Yes u r right... one more important reason is that when women have periods, the energy flows from top to bottom whereas during normal times, everybody's as well as everything's energy flows from bottom to top.... when all energy flows are in reverse direction to that of a girl in period, there creates agitation in girl's body which will further worsen menstrual problems... n that is the reason why such girls are not allowed to come out... it is misunderstood as discrimination.... other important thing is that every upper class is asked to avoid eating in low caste family.. it is because according to sashtras they're treated as smallest, closest and most innocent kids of narayan... just like how an elder shouldn't depend on youngest ones for food.... rather should support the younger in feeding... but this is wrongly portrayed by westerners as discrimination...in Hinduism there is neither gender discrimination nor caste discrimination...all the rules have their own scientific and sensible reasons

श्री गणेश संकटनाशन स्तोत्र
प्रणम्य शिरसा देवं गौरीपुत्रं विनायकम् ।
भक्तावासं स्मरेन्नित्यं आयुःकामार्थसिद्धये ॥१॥
With head bowed, let me unceasingly worship in my mind the god Vinayaka, the son of Gauri, the refuge of his devotees, for the complete attainment of longevity, amorous desires and wealth.
प्रथमं वक्रतुण्डं च एकदन्तं द्वितीयकम् ।
तृतीयं कृष्णपिङ्गाक्षं गजवक्त्रं चतुर्थकम् ॥२॥
First, as the one with the twisted trunk. Second, as the one with the single tusk. Third, as the one with the fawn colored eyes. Fourth, as the one with the elephants mouth,
लम्बोदरं पञ्चमं च षष्ठं विकटमेव च ।
सप्तमं विघ्नराजम् च धूम्रवर्णं तथाष्टमम् ॥३॥
Fifth, as the pot-bellied one, Sixth, as the monstrous one, Seventh, as the king of obstacles, Eighth, as the smoke colored one.
नवमं भालचन्द्रं च दशमं तु विनायकम् ।
एकादशं गणपतिं द्वादशं तु गजाननम् ॥४॥
Ninth, as the moon crested one, Tenth, as the remover of hindrances, Eleventh, as the Lord of the hordes, Twelfth, as the one with the elephants face.
द्वादशैतानि नामानि त्रिसंध्यं यः पठेन्नरः ।
न च विघ्नभयं तस्य सर्वसिद्धिकरं प्रभुः ॥५॥
Whosoever repeats these twelve names at dawn, noon and sunset, for him there is no fear of failure, nay, there is constant good fortune.
विद्यार्थी लभते विद्यां धनार्थी लभते धनम् ।
पुत्रार्थी लभते पुत्रान्मोक्षार्थी लभते गतिम् ॥६॥
He who desires knowledge obtains knowledge. He who desires sons gets sons. He who desires salvation obtains the way.
जपेद्वगणपतिस्तोत्रं षड्भिर्मासै: फलं लभेत्।
संवत्सरेण सिद्धिं च लभते नात्र संशयः ॥७॥
Whosoever mutters the hymn to Ganapati reaches his aim in six months, and in a year reaches perfection, on this point there is no doubt.
अष्टभ्यो ब्राह्मणेभ्यश्च लिखित्वा य: समर्पयेत।
तस्य विद्या भवेत्सर्वा गणेशस्य प्रसादतः ॥८॥
Whosoever makes eight copies of it, and has them distributed to as many brahmans, he reaches knowledge instantaneously, by the grace of Ganesh.
