I legitimately started a backlog like a week ago by just remebering all the stuff I played and putting in a txt file, but I didn't come really far, nor was it comfortable to have ratings of them and writing out 10 different Yakuza games, so this is just the thing I needed, thanks.
This is insanely useful now that I have started to play more games actively. I have now beaten 60 and keeping track of what I have played from start to finish is fun. Thank you for this video!
Damn, I am glad this video got recommended to me. I wanted something like this for years, but last time I checked, which was a few years back I did not find anything. So yeah, lets go. I hope people start using it more :)
This is really cool, thanks! I really like the stats and organisation options it provides. I'd been using a spreadsheet to track stuff I was playing, but it always got kind of messy to update and maintain over time.
I'm glad I saw your video about finishing a game you dislike, cause it brought me to this one. I've just created an account and have spent the last few hours adding in games and really loving it
Wow that's great to hear! Backloggd is so cool heh I just love having things organized and ticking things off a list. Thanks for the support on the videos :)
When I finish a game, I try to remember a meaningful soundtrack of it, one that later can remind me of the fun I just had. Then I try to find that track on UA-cam and add it to a list of mine. Once I even played a game while registering what I felt was ok with it. Ended up enjoying it way more, and really appreciating the unnecessary thought that was put into making it (False Myth). I kind of get a similar vibe with the silly thing I do and that page, so I'll check that out!
I have a pretty much perfect system for all this on steam already. Games I absolutely want to play go into wishlist, same for games I am still deciding on or unreleased, I just go through it every now and then when deciding what to buy and maybe remove a couple of games I decided not to play or actually go check reviews for games I added before release. Speaking of reviews I get that averaging lots of them will usually reflect a game's general quality but I find that finding a reviewer I resonate with is the best way to predict if I'll like a game. I still check metacritic scores (yes, I know) and most voted steam reviews both negative and positive but if I really can't get a feel on a game I just hit UA-cam for more personal reviews. Anyway, games I may only have a hint that I might like and are unreleased and far off with not much info I put them in my follow list. Steam will show me updates on them as they are posted and eventually they may get wishlisted or unfollowed and ignored. And yes, I also put stuff directly into ignored one in a while when it's trash I rather not be reminded of (rpg maker games, sports games, etc.) Games I buy go into favorites list in library as soon as I get them. That means I haven't played them yet. The ones I mean to play in the next few months are kept installed, usually 10 to 15. Once I finish a game it's removed from favorites and likely uninstalled too but I make sure of writing a review for it which I try to make very personal and focused on helping others make an informed decision on whether they enjoy the game. I rarely rip into games unless they have glaring issues or objectively poor quality. I guess if I wanted to track console games too or use the more social features the backlog site would work well.
Yeah adding more catalogue and one you have yo log all ypur games manually seems very redundant. And funny reviews are like 95% of reviews on steam . Sorry but dont see the appeal.
your system works perfect as long as you play in only one platform, that is not even PC games in general, but ONLY Steam! so for most of the players it just doesn't fit.
I personally created a giant google sheet a few months ago, it has columns for each system, and then I have drop down tabs which let me change it from incomplete, to finished, completed, or dropped. I have comments on every single game with their estimated play time as shown by HLTB, and I have counters at the top showing how many games I have in each category per system. I started this list back in February roughly and I've marked 192 games off my list already (only 25 of which were dropped), some being short games, and some being Final Fantasy 1-6, Live a Live, and Drake of the 99 Dragons. Simply having a possible list of games I want to play, and an estimated amount of time they'll take has absolutely changed my approach to what game I want to play, because some games I'd overblown in my head for how long they were, like Soul Blazer, or Yo-Kai Watch, or Zone of the Enders, and realizing that I could finish Zone of the Enders in a sitting, or Soul Blazer in 2 sittings, made some games which seemed massive in my head, a lot more achievable. Doing this has made me experience games that I never expected to play, or even like, and has given me so many games that I've loved or have come to respect so much more than I ever expected. I've enjoyed gaming more in the last 4 months than I have in the last 5+ years just by doing this and finally playing so many games that I've said "I'll get to that eventually". And just in case anyone's wondering, I've still got 1,165 games left on my backlog, so I've easily got another few years worth of games to get through. Also, I appreciate the DIY profile pic, solid series.
I'm using HLTB (how long to beat) and I can recommend ir. Also with the opportunity to import your steam library. I will have a look into backlogged though, thanks
I’m that Excel spreadsheet gamer- but this looks like a great way to get ideas and motivation on top of my already functional (albeit nerdy and cumbersome AF) system. Thanks for the suggestion!
This channel literally grew like 1000 subs in the last few hours! (Exaggerating but I know the creator is seeing this right now!!!) good luck on your streak my friend
I'll have to check this platform out. I've been using How Long To Beat which gives a break down on how long a game takes to beat in different ways like just main, main + some side quests, 100%, speed, leisure, etc. Has reviews and how many have logged their time and in which way.
@@mygameopinions I liked it a lot and eventually want to get one of my friends to play it in co-op mode with me. Will probably be even more fun a drink or two in.
Glitchwave is really cool too, on the same vein. It was made by the persons behind rate your music and it has great recommandations and reviews for a lot of games
So I was using the collections on steam but holy... THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER!!! I have like a backlog of... too many games and I feel like this website can make you generally a more healthy gamer. Being that te reviews on steam are kinda unreliable this site is a blessing
I like using trophies on PlayStation to keep track of games I’ve finished or 100%’d. If it’s at 1%-20% I consider it on my backlog to revisit later. If it’s platinumed I’ve usually had enough and consider it finished.
As an active member of AlbumOfTheYear (AoTY), a similar site to RYM, this would instead limit the amount of games that I play because looking at the average user score sometimes ruin it for me. Instead of wanting to genuinely try the game, I check the ratings first to know if it’s worth my time and then get overly critical about it. I use AOTY and it was a blessing and a curse, because sure I get to listen to a lot of good albums, but that stop me from trying to listen to the less popular or “mediocre” ones. And sometimes I get overly critical as well. Not to mention the snobby and pretentious community. Plus the amount of influence that influencers have on the sites. Can’t have a popular album without the likes of Anthony Fantano and/or Brad Taste in Music fans affecting the average score. I would probably stay away from this site though, one AOTY is enough.
Yeah I always look at HLTB before I play a game to get an estimate of how long I'll be playing it's good! I just don't really like the UI for the rest of the website though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@mygameopinions I definitely get that. I set up my Backloggd today and I gotta say it’s way more optimized to function like a social media platform like Letterboxd. HLTB is pretty bad in the social aspect, so I’m fully switching over. Thanks for showing it!
Yeah being able to import your library from Steam would be a really nice feature. If they could add that at some point it'd be great to have everything automatically be added
@@mygameopinions I've been playing games since I was 6 and have no idea how to manually add everything. that's what's holding me back. Steam import would be fantastic
This is awesome! I've been looking for something like this for so long. Tried using igdb but it just doesn't have as many cool features as this one looks like it has and I hate igdbs layout lol. Thanks man!
Using excel sheets and sites like this is a fun way of doing it as it gives a sense of accomplishment. Sounds like too much of a pain for me to keep up with tho when you have hundreds of titles already I just organize my steam section using dynamic selection stuff since the Tags are pretty useful. The numbers are used so they come up in order on UI lol Favorites - Games I am currently playing very regularly (like an FG or MMO I play almost daily) 1 Installed 2 Never played (unplayed tag using dynamic collections) 3 Played (* tag using system) 4 Completed (this is the only section I manually do) then I just have other dynamic collections I make and delete once a while when I want to find JRPGs, CO-OP or whatever genre I am feeling like playing. I use Deku deals for knowing what games I have on the Switch, Xbox or any Sony related systems then just do the rest manually on each console.
If you ever plan to make a video about 2D platformers, maybe you'd like to check out Captain Claw too, you play as a pirate cat. You might have never heard of it and that's why I'm mentioning it. I personally think that it's pretty good. It was released in 1997 by Monolith Productions, the guys who also made Blood, FEAR, Shadow of Mordor/War etc.
I use Playnite for this. But a backlogg integration for Playnite would be awesome, I might see if someone in the community might be interested in this.
I created a Backloggd account about 3 months ago and completely forgot about it. I need to start using it properly again. I am really bad with "Admin OCD" and put far too much time into organising my game lists. I seem to spend far more time these days thinking about what to play than actually playing.
Bro I watched another one of your videos where for a brief second you mentioned this and I’ve been searching for your channel for ages so I could find that video remember the name of this site and then BAM this pops up on my feed
This is neat. The only thing that would be a problem for me is that, for obvious reasons, ROM hacks/fangames n' stuff are (Probably) not included, and there's a LOT of those in my backlog. Lol. Still a cool site tho, I imagine itd be useful regardless of that. :)
I use Wishlists and a Coming Soon Playlist full of Trailers on UA-cam for anything I can't wishlist. U like many many gamers, I don't often buy a new game until I've finished my last one, or need a better variety of games in Rotation to play.
I honestly do not see the point in putting this much effort into backlogging games when you can just base it down to your digital library on the console itself (or just memory). But it does look cool to make lists of games you played that year with the site i guess
I think the website is cool but I wish I could link it to my gaming accounts so that I don't have to manually add every game I've ever played. This would be handy if they add achievements as well
I've tried this site before, and I really didn't like it to see games as only Numbers. I disliked it, because it robbed me every freedom. I was feeling like I'm wasting my time playing some old or online games at some point. But I can see the appeal for sure!
I'm glad this site does an out of 5* rating, I've seen a few other gaming log resources, but I hate out of 10 scales. There's just way too much wiggle in a scale that big. What makes a 6.5 game better than a 6? how much better is a 2/10 over a 3/10? It's way too broad and doesn't give an accurate story to how you really feel about something.
Awesome! I was searching for something like this after using anilist. It got to the point where I started building my own database. Gave up since it was taking too long. Just wish there were checkboxes for you to select all the platforms you own a game on rather than just selecting one.
This feels like something I would use all the time, I think my biggest disappointment is that it's a website instead of an app so it's inconvenient to log my games as I play them from the couch.
For I time I was using Howlongtobeat that way, and I use Steam as my collection list as you can mark games you have in other platform. I will check the web but I cannot promess anything as having a more than 6000 games collection made it a hard time to keep it listed. It sounds a good tool, I have one like that for my comics, being a collector is not easy, I consider myself more a videogame collector than a gamer.
Yep Android and IOS apps are on the road map on their website so they'll be coming soon. You can pin the webpage to your home screen on mobile and then it basically works as an app for now.
I checked out backloggd and maybe I would've moved to it but I'm not really a fan of adding every day which game you played (if you played any game that day). I know you don't have to buuuuut... yea I'm feel like I'm loosing whole statistic cause I was late to the party. I have stored started and finished dates, playtime stuff like that but no which day I have or not played Witcher 3 in those 3 months. I see a situations where it would be nice to have it like a week ago I've played Borderlands Pre-sequel with a friend. It's a rare game I haven't finished back in late 2020 so I was open to idea of completing it with a friend but as you guessed it we've played it for 2 days and that's it. Similar experience with It Takes Two. Started it a year ago may 2022 but had no luck finishing it again this year in february with a different friend so it's there, waiting, waiting to be completed, marked as playing a year later.
@@mygameopinions this video actually encouraged me to go finish (basically completely restart) AI the Somnium Files because I lost my save 15 hours in 😂. Also never seen anyone who knows about Oresuki 🤔
I used to really like backloggd, but personally I've determined that it's best for me to stay away from reviews no matter what and try to distance myself as much as possible, and there's no way to disable them there so I've been forced to avoid it. I just hate playing games everyone else loves and not understanding why, or finding some of my favorite games ever and everyone else treats them as average. Backloggd and Anilist are the two biggest culprits of this (not because their communities are bad or anything, they're just the only two I use), I disagree with ratings like 80% of the time, and it's just frustrating. Makes me feel like an outcast. I really love the UI and everything about it, so this is entirely a me issue, but I can't stand any site with reviews so I've been using Obsidian (notepad but better) instead for logging everything. Is it autistic? Yes. Am I still going to avoid all review sites? Yeah.
Im with you, game reviews and scores are worthless to me when the game reviewer probably can't even complete Cuphead on normal mode. Also would like to avoid IGN reviews such as: Too much water 😂😂😂😂
cool video! exactly what i needed to be honest, gonna make an account asap. what's the tetris game called that was being played in the background? thanks

i personally use ign's built-in backlog system that has pretty much the same features and also has a phone app
I hope you get around to unbeatable white label soon, it's probably one of my fav rythm games!
just made my account. thanks so much for recommending!
Seeing ur sub count now is crazy
I use Wishlists and a Coming Soon Playlist full of Trailers on UA-cam for anything I can't wishlist. U like many many gamers, I don't often buy a new game until I've finished my last one, or need a better variety of games in Rotation to play.
Signing up for Backloggd right this moment
Glad to hear it!
did not know this, cool stuff, thanks
This is so much better than GG, that app was missing so many obscure games
Yep, when I made my account I considered using GG but I like backloggd more
Great channel bro, keep it up !
Appreciate it!
Keep up the great work bro
Thanks for the support :)
I was waiting for a site like this all my life
The huge problem for me is my mood
Sometimes I want to play an rpg and sometimes I want to play a horror game and etc
This site looks neat, thanks! :D
I honestly do not see the point in putting this much effort into backlogging games when you can just base it down to your digital library on the console itself (or just memory). But it does look cool to make lists of games you played that year with the site i guess
Great videos man. Love your narration style. Keep em coming :d Also stay safe and have a nice day :)
I’ve been using grouvee for months now
I'm so glad a site like Backloggd exists. I'm just hoping it sticks around compared to predecessors.
There's another one that's been around for a while, i've used it for three years now, it's called Grouvee
@@PorlacrestaLolvide Never heard of it. how does it work?
@@PorlacrestaLolvide yeah i think grouvee is better but i wish it had a bigger community
I've put mine into time sections, if i only have 1 or 2 hours i'll play shorter games, if i have a whole day or night I attack the longer ones :)
Can it synchronize with steam/epic/gog library ? Importing all your games manually would be tedious.
This would be a godsend 🙏🙏🙏
I started using this site thanks to this video
Playnite has this function essentially built-in, fortunately. Reading the user reviews somewhere outside of steam is nice though.
Thank you. Made an account and have logged some games. Will be adding all my games.
Seems a great page, will give it a look!
They need to make a functional iOS app
it’s in roadmap
amazing video, i've never heard of it buti really want to try it out now!
I think the website is cool but I wish I could link it to my gaming accounts so that I don't have to manually add every game I've ever played. This would be handy if they add achievements as well
This is what I was looking for years, I even have a gamedb account but it’s not the same
THE SITE OF MY CHILDHOOD DESIRES IS REAAAAAL
Saw Metal Gear Rising in your log. I just wanted to say it's probably my favorite game of all time. And it only takes like 6 hours.
I actually started it and didn't finish for some reason :p I will definitely go back to it though
Thanks for the tip!
No problem :) Just wanna help the website grow
You made +1 person join Backlogged.
Thanks so much.
the review part looks awesome. but cmon no app? I barely use desktop anymore :(
Yep Android and IOS apps are on the road map on their website so they'll be coming soon. You can pin the webpage to your home screen on mobile and then it basically works as an app for now.
i'd mention grouvee as a really good choice for back logging your games, just use old shelf style, I find it more helpfull
Started it a year ago may 2022 but had no luck finishing it again this year in february with a different friend so it's there, waiting, waiting to be completed, marked as playing a year later.
just signed up thanks bro
How is this guy underrated
cant wait to make a list of games and then never play them lol! procrastination even in gaming is a sad reality 😢
Heh yeah. Nice pansy pfp 👍👍
@@mygameopinions this video actually encouraged me to go finish (basically completely restart) AI the Somnium Files because I lost my save 15 hours in 😂. Also never seen anyone who knows about Oresuki 🤔
According to my Steam replay I played 280 games last year 😂 I also play emulators/Switch games a ton, as well as many PC games that aren't on Steam.
This is exactly what i needed, appreciate the video. I can't wait to organize all my games that start with S as well.
Also would like to avoid IGN reviews such as: Too much water 😂😂😂😂
cool video! exactly what i needed to be honest, gonna make an account asap. what's the tetris game called that was being played in the background? thanks
It's Tetris Effect, love that game!
@@mygameopinions thank you very much!
