- It's happening! After more than a decade, I'm going to release the whole soundtrack to FF6. I know you've all been waiting a long time for this. This is going to be a huge project.

All my favourite old FF musicians on UA-cam coming out of the woodwork! Did Square finally release that VII remake people were always talking about? I haven't kept up with the newfangled stuff after I decided to become a grumpy old gognard.
basically, there's a FF7 "Remake" trilogy coming out now. It's hitting a lot of the same points but it plays differently and has slight changes to the story. very good so far, the second game "Rebirth" just came out last month or so.
FFVII was a bit of a soap opera, the remake dials that up to 11. It's kind of distracting.
This game's soundtrack is #1 in my decades of enjoying video game music. Does this type of remaster require re-recording every single track? Do you have any changes you plan on making in instrumentation or sound design, or are you mostly looking to keep the music as similar to the original with updated quality? How does a project like this differ from the remastered soundtrack in the Pixel Remaster version(s) of the game?
I'm also curious about all of this, hope you get an answer!!
I try to keep things as close to the original as possible! Though for certain tracks I will add a bit of flair -- jazz solos in Johnny C. Bad, extra sound design in some tracks as well. Just little things to make it my own. I have done some instrumentation changes here and there as well to match the orchestration. I'm also bringing in live players for some tracks as well, so those will be re-recorded.

Awesome news. Will this be available for purchase on Amazon music and iTunes when you release it? Also did you ever release Final Fantasy VI Remastered Soundtrack: Disc Two for purchase? I purchased Disc One long ago on Amazon music but could never find Disc Two available.

They’re still here on the channel! I don’t delete the old stuff so people can hear the improvements made over the years :)

That's probably the most difficult one to get right imo; I have never heard a cover of that one that lived up to original. I think it all comes down to the SNES, "hammer on metal," sound effect.
