Actually, now that I think about it again. Prisons COULD be luxurious because they’re placed used to reintegrate criminals back into society. They don’t need to be luxurious but they could be if it helps. Of course this is in the case of low security prisons, idk how high security prisons work.

Most incarcerated people started as victims. They’re victims of childhood trauma, sexual abuse etc. They get on a path that victimizes others. Then they get victimized by the state. Then get released unhealed, not rehabilitated to often victimize again. The system is failing all victims and our communities as a whole.
I work in law enforcement the amount of crime that goes unpunished or the people that get a second chance is unfathomable. Child predators, Agg DUI ( killing someone when drunk driving) , domestic battery, attempted murder! { This one surprised me even ) literally go to jail for one night and walk out the door next day with a promise to show up to court and not do the crime again.

I worked in a prison, not including the sexual harassment, but as degrading and nasty as some of this stuff sounds, it has to be done when it comes to those body searches. Menstrual on or not because some of these women will still try to sneak things in regardless. Trust me, the correction officers don't like it either, but it has to be done.
In Norway she would've been given an apartment, still away from society, but not stripped of all comfort for stealing from a big company, she would have learned her lesson through thought and reform over time, not be put into a consistent state of anxiety and fear of both inmates and supervisors alike, just to be released worse off mentally than she was before. She sure as hell won't steal again, but she also wont sleep without a night light, she won't respect lawful authority, she will just fear them.

I'm retired as a metro cop for 39 years senior corporal, I never promoted above patrol division. However, I have the utmost respect for this young lady, I never worked in detention, yet her story is so inspiring 😢
WOW.. she's a fairly well-adjusted.. felon.. she's very smiley and genuinely seems happy.. I'm not a criminal.. never been to prison.. but.. a bad day led to eleven days in jail some 20 years ago now.. I did NOT acclimate!! I cried the whole time I was there!! 😂😂😂 freedom is vital to my soul's existence.. I have CTSD from a hellish childhood.. so.. being caged and treated like filth by the system and the humans that run the system.. isn't anything I came out happy from.. she was exposed to this hell for a decade and came out SMILING.. that's absolutely astonishing to me!! good for her!! its taken me 8 years of doing allllllllllllllllllllll the things toward my healing.. I'm much happier now.. but.. it took YEARS.. glad she doesn't have to put in as much time getting to happy so she can start living FREE and continue her happiness.. good on her!!

A lot to unpack in that question. I’ll do my best. 1. I’ve always been attracted to women. Prison doesn’t “turn” anyone gay or lesbian. That’s not really how sexuality works. 2. I feel sorry for what my kids went through as well. It’s still hard healing from the trauma of having mom ripped from their lives. 3. Once you start pushing your personal morals, it’s easy to cross lines. I stopped and started several times. The money and maybe even the “getting away with it” became addictive for sure. I was living two lives and miserable during that time in my life. Those transactions filled an emptiness in that moment. Two things can be true at the same time: a mother can love her children and mess up at the same time
Its ironic she got out in January 2021. Because thats when i got covid while being an essential worker for SafeStreets USA an ADT Home Security dealer. It destroyed my lungs, my life and my wealth. I've been in a poverty prison for the last 4 years. Unable to work and our government denied me disabilty TWICE. Even with a lawyer. Every single month for the last 4 years i barely made rent by the skin on my teeth. Imagine living like that? Going to church food pantries for 4 years just to eat. The company and government were cool to use me as an essential worker but when i got sick they tossed me to the curb like human garbage. This is the real America we live in 😡
