I always thought this was cute and goofy. Until a year or so ago. I’m 60 now, and the line “hold on to the ones who really care, in the end they’ll be the only ones there” is so true. It’s becoming one of my favorites.
I second this! FR I almost panicked because for some reason it took me a minute to see Stephen Baldwin up there. (Stephen Baldwin is my sometimes nickname for Isaac). .
People used to give me so much crap for loving this song and this band. The lyrics are pretty profound if you listen to what the message is. "Hold on to the ones who really care/In the end they'll be the only ones there/And when you get old and start losing your hair/Can you tell me who will still care?" hits me hard at 50 years old.
Yet I bet what they listened to back then they can’t even remember. In fact, what they did listen to probably no longer exists, or have had all the creativity sucked out of them due to being stuck in the soulless battle that modern pop is. Meanwhile, us Fansons are rocking out to great songs and great harmonies from great talent all the years later. Cheers
Same. I was only 16 years old when this song was released and, back then, I had absolutely NO idea what the lyrics meant. Now, I'm about to turn 43 in just 4 days and I can totally resonate with this song far more than I did as a clueless teenager.
I’m proud of how Hanson and Moffat brothers turned out to be. Decent human beings, no drama, and pursued their love for music even if it means moving away from the mainstream. I’m glad that the industry didn’t ruin them.
Hanson are legit as fuck. They're treated like a one hit wonder - and commercially I suppose they are, but the albums they've released even over the last decade are SERIOUSLY good
They are so good. As a boy of the 90s you couldn’t admit that you actually liked them back then but as we age we can admit our appreciation. I saw them last year live for the first time and it was spectacular. Seeing all my fellow 30 and 40 years olds rocking out to them was very cool.
One of the greatest pop songs ever created....and they're actually a pretty decent band. Have seen them live. They write some great material...and they put on a great show. And when this tune comes out...the entire place rocks out. Can there be a better feeling for a band...than to play a great tune on a beautiful sunny day...and look out and see 100,000 people all clapping along.
Charlies Harmonising adds a very nice richness to Hansons already insane harmonies, I'd be curious to see how an original song between the two bands would be 🥰
Hanson is so underrated. I don't think a lot of people realize all the crap they had to endure after the success of Mmmbop. They ended up leaving their label and going independent even though they had offers from other big music labels. Even when they were young they said they wanted to make music and perform for the rest of their lives and it didn't matter how popular they were, they just truly love music and they celebrated 31 years together as a band this year. If you watch their music video for the song I Was Born you see all their kids that they had at the time excluding Taylor's oldest kid who decided not to be in the music video.
Well said. You see it in early interviews as kids, all they ever cared about was to write, record, and perform their own music. Nothing but passion for their craft. In with adversity they found a way to stay connected with their core fans and have had ongoing success for all these years. Proud to be a fan!

In one way it's too bad they went independent, since their music isn't heard on the radio exposing them to larger audiences...that's a shame. But at the same time, I'm glad they escaped the clutches of the record companies. They're vultures. And the band has had no problem continuing their success or fame.
And so it has come to pass. That a whole generation went from listenning to their parents who listened to music from their youth, to BEING the parents listening to music from their youth... ... I'd shiver in terror at the ravages of time, but there's already some kinda draft?!

I finished my first year of college when this song came out…loved it then and still love it. I love family acts. The song represents how fast life is and it amazes me that the Hanson boys are now in their early 40’s and still rocking it. The collaboration is outstanding and their voices sound awesome live
