So curious they were considered conservative and reactionary. I guess I could stretch and see the conservativeness - sort of allegory, but then again is that confined to conservatism? I certainly don't think so but who knows? And reactionary? Against what? Odd. And beautiful works, btw. I only just learned of him and I love his style. Feels sort of like Redon, Klimt & others rolled into one.
