Buy, wait for a sale, rent, or never touch it. The Patented Karak review system to see if a game is worth a buy upon release or if I recommend waiting.
This is why this channel is a must for me. There's no way I'd of ever heard of this normally, but now I've got a new rabbit hole to jump down.
Look into the first Stasis game or Beautiful Desolation. I enjoyed both of those games by this developer.
Also their other free game Cayne. These guys never miss imo, I've loved every game from them.
ACG is the only reviewer I have 100% faith in that he will give his honest opinion on games
Then you need medication for extreme paranoia....there are tons of honest reviewers outside the mainstream IGN scum
Agreed! He’s my go to reviewer!
So strange that you've never heard of Gmanlives or the #1, Gameranx
Yeah, this is my go-to channel for reviews.
Same.
Literally received an email from Steam telling me Bone Totem had launched as I was watching this. I'd never even heard of this one. Thanks, Karak.
?? You must have had it on your wishlist then no?
@@frankie5821 Nope. I also don't follow the company that published the game. I DO have the original Stasis listed, and I follow a curator who has recommended Bone Totem, but other than that I have no other idea why Steam emailed me about it.
@@frankie5821 Confirmed (I think). I did not have Street Fighter 6 wishlisted but just got an email about its release because I follow Capcom. It was either the curator or having the original Stasis wishlisted.
I am a big fan of the first Stasis and had this on my wishlist for a long time. Between this, the System Shock remake, and 40k Boltgun I have my hands full!
I love the 90s Future style of this game. It triggers a deep nostalgia
The only reviewer I trust in this day and age of unfinished game releases🙌🏽
you got that right. triple A trash
I like Skill Up a lot as well. Even when I don’t agree with him I get a lot of actionable information for my time and money.
@nbf-fb1xs the one thing about skill up is that he likes every game he reviews only seen 2 reviews from him he said was bad
I used to trust Skill Up and YongYea but after Cyberpunk 2077 and their ridiculously unethical fawning over it and Skill Up said and I quote "CDPR set out to create an immersive exciting cyberpunk world for you to enjoy....did they succeed? Yes. They did." (they did not) lol, ACG and Crowbcat are now my default go to's whenever a game drops that Im interested in. Crowbcat is one of the greatest assets we have against the industry, I have a sneaking suspicion its a group of pissed off and frustrated developers who need a place to vent without destroying their careers.
@@tgreaux5027 ah man. Different strokes. I really liked Cyberpunk from day 1. It was first person shooter Witcher 3, and I had no technical issues on my rig. I also liked TLOU3, and he really did not, largely because of the plot. Agree to disagree. I understand why he didn’t like it, I just didn’t agree.
Stasis was such a good game, had its own unique horror style. Will check this out.
Wow, for a point and click this is a genuinely gorgeous looking game!
Try the first two games these brothers made they are awesome...
@@gamersplaygroundliquidm3th526 Three: Cayne, Stasis, and Beautiful Desolation
@@elverkongen2515 I always forget BD , and it is such a great game too!!!!
ACG's review is masterful, as ever. Thank you for reviewing Bone Totem. It should really be played by more people!
This is really a great game. I've already beaten the game and just found your review. I think you're totally on target... The game plays good on the Steam Deck too
I like the scenario. I absolutly into movies like Abyss and Sphere and i wished there where more horror games with an underwater theme.
Thank you. I have watched Abyss but not Sphere. 👍
Have you played Soma, perchance?
@@saintallison I watched a Let's Play. ^^
@@Cookie_85 Nice! It's haunted me ever since for better and for worse lol
Wow, between this and Planet of Lana I feel like we're being pampered with solid narrative-focused games.
Awesome game . Very engaging ,made buy clever people . Very competent in every aspect. It is an indie game by budget but with AAA quality in creativity and good writing .Almost no boring puzzles , they all feel like problems for our guys to solve naturally. Acting is good as any done by professionals. I can't point flaws cause it would be nitpicking without good reason . I just enjoyed game fully and want you to enjoy it if you like this kind of games .
I remember Sanitarium.Taste like wonderful 90's.
Great game!
Really liked Stasis (and Cayne) but had entirely forgotten that this game was coming out even though i wishlisted it when it was announced. Wouldn't have remembered if not for this review
i loved stasis. didnt expect this one to look too interesting. cant wait to try it
I loved Stasis too but this one blows it away. You should definitely try it.
im shocked... i would never thought ACG would review this game :D played all brotherhood games until today as i got now bone totem to add to that list :D
I love every game The Brotherhood has put out. This is an instant buy.
Bone totem.....woke up with one, now I can play with it too. NICE!
Playing Stasis 1 right now. Very good game imo.
Stasis and Cayne were pretty fun, so I'll be grabbing this one.
not Beautiful Desolation?
@@stevenlornie1261 good catch, anyone reading this comment and wanting more games like this will appreciate you bringing that one up.
@@Dermetsu Great game. Best of the three so far IMO.
Now this looks intriguing. Reminds me bit of SOMA which was absolutely amazing.
The first game was amazingly well made, so not surprised this one is a buy.
Enjoyed Beautiful Desolation. Felt like a hidden indie gem. I think the devs are South African? There was a VO that had that accent. Just rare to hear that in media for me.
I've actually played that as well. Saw it because it was on sale, but never would have come across it otherwise.
I swear I played a game called stasis on steam back in 20teens. It was a sci fi horror point and click.
Yup there is one like that. Made by a South African game development studio. This one is by the same studio.
This is a sequel!
3:43 Cayne is also another game from the developer
Been meaning to play the first one since I saw grimbeard's review. Guess I need to play this one as well.
Grimbeard!! I see you are a man of culture as well
Having swappable characters makes me think of Day of the Tentacle. I know a few others have done it since then, but that's the one I think of when that mechanic is mentioned.
You are right about the name, nothing about it has made me think of checking out what this is, until your review here. I'm definitely getting it but I'm also reading that there's more games that came out before it set in the same universe, by the same devs. Should I start with those? Do I lose out on anything important if I start with this one?
Can start with this one, new story etc.
-5,000 POINTS for not giving the hacker bear a little unicycle to ride around.
Ikr
This looks excellent! Thanks for reviewing lesser-known indie titles.
99% of the time I NEVER buy a game based off another person's review but I can honestly say that ACG is that 1% and the exception. If I'm hesitant on purchasing a title and cant decide one way or the other ACG comes through every time.
I love how you name the video review. It does make smile.
Three main Characters kinda reminds me a bit of an old survival horror game - Martian Gothic .
I am a smart bear and strong. Playing Stasis 2 I actually did think, hey! Mac reminds me of Karak from ACG, at least cosmetically.
Remember playing the demo of this years ago it look interesting.
Lmao they really sat there and was like yeah stasis bone totem is a good name haha
okay, and you sat down and thought being a dick was a good idea why?
I've not heard of this game before. Definitively a buy.
Great review as usual! Never heard of this game, so thanks for the review!
P.S. I think it would be really interesting to see one of your AI written reviews for Gollum. Could be very amusing!
Better cutscenes than Redfall!
Just curious, but why didn't you review Jedi Survivor or Diablo 4?
I remember him in a comment on a different review say he had multiple save corruptions on Jedi Survivor. Diablo 4 he mentioned on a community post a few days ago.
Yes, audio clips back in the audio section!
Is this from the creator of "Beautiful desolation"?
Yes
I love how nasty the bear looks
That bear is really the stuff of nightmares XD
I've been looking forward to this game for years. Big fan of their previous two games (Stasis and Cayne), so I'm excited to dive back into that world.
Stasis, Cayne, and now Bone
The Saint Trinity ✨✨✨
"A point and click game at heart, but it's got a unique set up" /proceeds to describe Day of the Tentacle's set up.
Fellas remember to get your tentacles checked
Yeah I wouldn’t say it’s unique but it’s better implemented than Day of the Tentacle since it’s easier to move items among the characters.
Jesus, I never thought I'd hear anyone reference the bear from Dreamfall: The Longest Journey but here we are. I didn't think anyone remembered that game at all.
It's actually in the pantheon of adventure games.
Had the same thought when he mentioned it. Been YEARS since I played The Longest Journey.
Wasn't the main protagonist in Dreamfall: TLJ Zöe?
Whoops yes! Not chloe you rock. Chloe was my first girlfriend lol
This looks amazing, can't wait to play it. Thanks for the killer video and recommendation! 🍻👊
When you said Chloe's bear from Dreamfall, did you mean Zoe's bear?
Because of this i went and bought the original Stasis and it was really good. Not a game i would have ever tried otherwise, so ty. I'll be picking up this game as soon as i can afford to.
So... Cayne Corp is at it again, eh?
I can't believe you can play as an Otterman.
Thanks my bearded bro never heard of this game.
You bet man. Huge surprise but man I loved it
You can tell that you really enjoyed this, which must be hard if you do it for a living. I'm gonna buy it
50th ocean game this year
this looks an absolute steal only £13 on steam.
So I'm listening to ACG podcast 396. You guys are at the 28 minute mark. You're talking about minimum and recommended settings. I think steam should start out by saying what minimum recommended hardware to get you and then clarify what minimum would be whether it be 1080p low settings, 30 frames per second recommended: 1080p high settings 60 frames per second. I don't know. I just feel it needs more of a classification
I agree. I would love it to be ALMOST exact man. And with some kind of true showing of that being accurate
Can't believe this exists.
Is it necessary to play the two predecessors, or even recommended to go along in the game, or are they completely decoupled?
You for sure do not have to
would recommend them though. Good games.
@@ACGreviews Thanks!
Wow I love the atmosphere
How is the gas canister fill at the beginning not moon logic? If I use a pattern for gas insertion, then the gas can is OK. That's the most basic moon logic puzzle ever. My dumb ass refunded.
They're using metahumans for this. Nice:) Great review too.
Wish this has some sort of combat looks solid
Stasis Bone Totem is an odd name for a game, but it does look interesting regardless. I've never heard of it until now. I'll have to give it a shot for sure. Thanks, Karak! As always, I appreciate the honest, unbiased, and detailed review! God bless and stay!
It is great and you bet
Coming to PlayStation this month
Great review think it’s a purchase for me 👍
Good game, weird name, indeed. Thank you for the review!
Thanks for watching!
Looks cool havent bothered with new games for a long time now tho
How did I get here? I was in the middle of pirating anime and then all of a sudden I find myself here
Thanks for you hard work!
Man. That bear was designed so bad. It was like they went out of their way too make the character unappealing or maybe they're from the same "Annabelle" school of "yeah this is what a child would play with" ideology. Sheesh. Otherwise this looks pretty cool
One thing does bug me as a 3d artist. The default metahuman characters. It is so easy to change the default heads why on earth did they go with defaults. These are the ugliest head models ever.
How does this game match up to the first Stasis??
Way cool...a gamer who looks for good games to put the word out
never heard of this, seems pretty cool
Are there any action sequences or timed puzzles? Not sure if i could handle frantic clicking in a horror game.
no
Hope this works on Steam deck.
Just finished the game myself and I overall enjoyed Bone Totem. But the first STASIS was still better in my opinion (and CAYNE).
There's just too many PDA entries in this game to read, so much that I feel like I spent most of my time reading text instead of playing the actual game.
I do understand that they are used to give you the story, and they do, without them I wouldn't know what is going on. But I still think there's just too much text.
If only it was voice acted or something it would have been a lot easier to go through it.
Wild name
Yo karak will you review street fighter 6 ? :D
Why is this video labelled Old?
OMG! Your PALADIN was wise enough to abandon your unworthy, unfaithful, infidel group and you had to bear the blunt of the trauma & drama? Write the story, make the comic, go for the video game or movie!!! 🤩
Lol. We did indeed have a Paladin walk off one time
Wow, if ever signals was a bioshock theme. This game is beautifully implemented
Never heard of this game. 🤔
Bone Totem...Lol
"old"
For those who are new to this channel it would be nice if you offered two more seconds of your time at the end. A five? Out of five, ten?
why does it need a score? He loved it and recommends it. Why is that not enough?
Lol we don't do that here
@@stevenlornie1261 If you're thinking of buying the game but don't want to spoil it for yourself if would be nice to just skip to the end and find out the score. A five on it's own is (normally) either average or awesome. Or "pointless" to me :D
Sorry not sure I understand. A five? what?
@@thundermorphine He said a buy! I'm assuming you heard "a five"? Am I correct? He rates it on a BUY, wait, or sale (wait for a sale) basis.
Do you wanna see my bone totem?
emm that Bear does not look like a Bear...
Gang gang
I cringe every time he says “gang gang”
That seems pretty weaksauce to cringe that easily
Such facial animation, but they made a point and click game?
After seeing Daedelic, a studio well versed at making point and click games take on too much and make the disaster that is Gollum, it’s nice to see a team properly manage scope and tackle a project they can handle.
Point and click games are niche but for people who like the genre why wouldn't you want well made cutscenes. Normally games from birds eye point of views make it hard to empathize with the characters. Cutscenes help alot with that so the choice to really focus on facial animations makes sense.
different playable charachters turned me off instantly.
This looked pretty damn cool until you mentioned how it is a puzzle game. I absolutely can't stand puzzle games; I just can't get into them. I would rather fight something than figure out fucking puzzles. Good review, but I'll pass.
Awsome
The latest from The Brotherhood, who have been refining this formula for the better part of a decade. This is actually the third game in the 'Stasis' universe, the first being (wait for it) Stasis and the second being Cayne, a free prequel to the first game. They have another title; Beautiful Desolation which is it's Own Thing, but still an isometric point and click like their other offerings.
Thanks for that recommendation, never heard of it. Looks visually amazing
Even the stuff you talk about are very layered and detained that both a casual and advance gamer can walk away with.
