Love to see something dedicated to the southern climate. Too much of guntube content is aimed at the PNW.
I've been waiting for someone to bring swamps info forward, I've hunted and camped in south Florida all my life and it's a truly unique environment to be in. I think many people seriously underestimate the difficulty of it at times.
God bless you for getting your sick ass up and slogging through this video despite clearly being in physical distress the entire time.
Buying chest waders to explore our marshland this spring.
Swamps and rolling hills are my primary area, only difference for me is that 8 months out of the year the water is hypothermia temperatures if not frozen
Absolutely great video man. Swamps are my primary areas and I agree 100% with what you said. I'm also glad to see the part about hygiene and having a spare change of clothes. that's something I've been doing for a few years now in summer time. Again great video man.
The bullion cube thing is OG. 🤙🏻
Living in northern muskeg bogs in Minnesota growing up in a swamp this is definitely an overlooked operational area. Luckily in the winter our swamps become much more solid and traversable but this is still great information
southeast GA here. really helpful video
Glad to hear that! The American South has many bogs and swamps, so youre the target audience
Great points. Prickly heat and immersion set in much faster than you'd expect in hot, humid swamps. Crocs and foot powder are money in a PB.
I completely agree with the non-waterproof/non-goretex boots. It's not about keeping your footwear dry; they WILL get soaked. It's about how fast can they dry at night or hanging off your ruck.
Swamp suction is crazy. You can easily lose high-top 670-1 boots. I have seen guys lose Garmonts, Rockys, etc.
Im surprised even AR670-1 boots have succumbed to the swamp suction, thats wild as hell. The swamp truly is no joke
This is great content holy crap man!!! I’m in Florida as well so it’s awesome hearing from a Floridian. Been here my whole life most don’t understand these woods unless they’ve been here
Do you happen to know which specific helikon shirt that is? They have several cotton ripstop models and I wanted to be sure before buying. Thank you for taking the time to put together these videos, it is very appreciated.
i dont have much to add or ask. just boosting the algorithm
Awesome guide to everything in a video, well explain in detail especially on boots , notes and stuff
Solid info. I’m In the swamps of NE FL. Every piece of kit revolves around or In water.
What about Vietnam War style jungle boots? I had a pair back in the day but I outgrew them before I got to wear them much.
They have all the attributes you would need, not sure if anyone of good standing makes them anymore besides maybe Altama. Im not a fan of using surplus footwear.
Horses are the real mans ATV as someone who has seen what a pack horse can do they are great
@@opfor8r my friends and family borrow them for when we hunt elk and they work wonders, not only does it keep 150 lb quarters off my back but they dont stop and are great for when we had grandpa out
What boots are you highlighting? You mention the Salomon XA Ultra as a no-go since it's too thin. But you don't mention the model for the Salomon you used and liked.
get ventilated insoles from bensbackwoods they are like the old gi type but thicker also caltopo is great for maps
Very well detailed info man! My area is not primarily swampy but there is some overlapping concepts and really found this helpful. Also what anti fog do u recommend
@@opfor8r Awesome man thx 🙏. I’m also thinking of getting some “jungle boots like these, what model are those, what are your thoughts on the 5.11 ones, other alternatives?
@@protectpersevere2030 I have no experience with 5.11 boots. The ones in the Video are Salomon Jungle Ultra boots, however a cursory search of AR670-1 boots will give you options with most of the features you would want.
Brings me back to Ft.Stewart
Never been to Stewart, Benning had some swampy bits but not much. I feel like Ft Stewart being closer to the coast might make wetlands a bigger issue. I cant even imagine dudes at Polk.
@@opfor8r I went from Benning to Stewart, was excited at first cause no hills but then I learned it’s surrounded by swamp
That's why we dry bag EVERYTHING
Excellent video! Subbed!
Totally agree with everything about boots. Better to go light and thin with your footwear so it dries fast than to try to keep water out. Gortex never keeps your feet dry from anything more than small puddles in my experience. Sure in the snow it helps but in the south that’s not really a problem.
yep, if waters get in goretex boots you are fkd, because it is very difficult to get it out.
Beware of some of the rain fly\ ponchos because some of the water proofing material can leach into the water, but that is not for everyone of them. Just try it first before you absolutely need to rely on it.
Thanks for the great content.
If you can, reduce the frequency that you clear your throat, it'll make the video that much better!
Good stuff.
Yeah, I think I slept face up, throat was killing me. Gonna have a cough drop next time
Awesome video. Do you know anybody that has a similar video for other environments?
You think it is hard finding hear for wetlands you should try in north alberta canada we can have all 4 seasons here in one day plus rain lol
What boots are those?
Brent 0331 vides.. love it.
@@opfor8r well, if Bent didn’t inspire than something is definitely wrong!
hello, can you give us your actual instagram account, I followed your old one but it got nuked and I COULDN'T FIND YOUR NEW ONE
i hv been homeless for over a year now and living in a 💩 hole of a swamp,, it's been a learning experience..
One really good thing is that no homeless people venture back in here, from what i hv reconed of the area i hv the only high peice of ground, even in the dry times I'm surrounded by water, ya learn to appreciate & take care of a good pair of waders..

I’m located in central Alabama and I have to say I agree 100% with the video and presentation. People don’t understand how abundant and challenging an environment like this can be. It can be an infinite resource or a quick death if you aren’t knowledgeable and adapted for it. Great content, hope to see more like this!
